Here’s the set-up:

Katherine wouldn’t have believed it if she hadn’t found the letter…

Katherine Arthur’s mother arrives on her doorstep, dying, forcing her to relive a past she wanted to forget. When Katherine was young, the Arthur family had been affluent city dwellers until shame sent them running for the prairie, into the unknown. Taking her family, including young Katherine, to live off the land was the last thing Jeanie Arthur had wanted, but she would do her best to make a go of it. For Jeanie’s husband Frank it had been a world of opportunity. Dreaming, lazy Frank. But, it was a society of uncertainty—a domain of natural disasters, temptation, hatred, even death.

Ten-year-old Katherine had loved her mother fiercely, put her trust in her completely, but when there was no other choice, and Jeanie resorted to extreme measures on the prairie to save her family, she tore Katherine’s world apart. Now, seventeen years later, and far from the homestead, Katherine has found the truth – she has discovered the last letter. After years of anger, can Katherine find it in her heart to understand why her mother made the decisions that changed them all? Can she forgive and finally begin to heal before it’s too late?

The 5-Star Review
“This is the first book in a long time that so captured my attention that I was up reading late into the night. The characters come alive on the pages and you feel that you know each one personally. It fits into many categories: historical fiction, character study, women’s issues, intrigue, the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship. It gives insight into a way of life long past, but shows that some of the emotional issues we face today were present then, too, and that there were strong women then who forged their own futures, even when the social structures of the time made that difficult. I have always loved historical fiction, and especially such fiction set in the pioneer days of our own country. This book satisfies on so many levels. I will be eagerly awaiting another book by Kathleen Shoop!”

When Christina runs into rich boy Bill’s car and can’t afford to pay for the damage, he blackmails her into participating in a farce? But who is fooling whom? Find out for just 99 cents.

Here’s the set-up:

Revenge is sweet… or is it?

Christina Matteo had a humiliating prank pulled on her in high school by rich, party boy Bill Havenwood. It changed her whole life and she never forgot it—or him. Older, wiser and tougher, she meets him again years later and decides to get even. She wants revenge and comes up with a perfect plan. But things don’t go her way when she stupidly crashes her car into his expensive sportscar while tailing him one day.

Not recognizing her, Bill blackmails the cash-poor Christina into helping him stay in his billionaire father’s good graces by pretending to be his fiancée for one month. Christina decides to go along with his ruse. After all, who knows what dirt she can find out about the jerk from the inside?

But as Christina scams Bill and Bill scams his father—his father scams the both of them. William Havenwood Sr. knows all about their phony engagement and begins to push the couple to marry for real in order to get them to crack under pressure.

And then Christina’s little revenge plan begins to spiral out of control when she finds herself actually falling in love with her avowed enemy, Bill. It’s enough to make a girl sick to her stomach! But can she really continue to go through with her plans to make him pay when she’s so attracted to the creep? Christina is just stubborn enough to find out!
HER PERFECT REVENGE is a story where its three strong and smart main characters—Christina, Bill and his father, William—find themselves engaged in a clever battle of wits where games, lies, secrets and deceptions rule the day. Who will win? And will Christina risk everything to get her payback?

What the Reviewers Say
“Ms. Mara’s crackling sense of humor is evident in her writing. She has created rich characters and given life to them – even the secondary characters which many authors forget to develop.”
–Tracy Vest, Top 500 Reviewer

“I was given this book and could not put it down after the first chapter. Christina has a terrible practical joke done on her in high school by two drunken jerks – Jake and Bill. Christina runs into Bill later in life and decides to have some revenge! While following him to get some `dirt’ for the revenge she accidentally runs into his expensive car. Then Bill’s father tells him he is cut off – until Bill reports that he is engaged to `Christina’ so he won’t be cut off from the billions. Bill’s father invites Christina for supper and there starts – the fake engagement and a fervent relationship”
–cb, Vine Voice

” This book was awesome and if you’re a true romantic at heart, you’ll love it too! If you like clever, strong heroines with a smart mouth and loads of attitude; and you like your romance stories with a touch of humour and sass, then trust me, you can’t go wrong with this one.”

Donna Huston Murray’s Main Line Mystery FINAL ARRANGEMENTS is our Kindle eBook of the Day – 5 Stars, Just $2.99, and Here’s a Free Sample!

The temptation is great. Just drive her mother’s high school chum to the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 5:30 in the morning and Ginger Barnes gets to see the internationally renowned Philadelphia Flower Show before the rest of the world. What could possibly go wrong?

Lots. Winifred “Iffy” Bigelow is a bossy, ungrateful grouch. She treats Gin, her mother, and her niece Julia like low-paid employees then complicates their lives by ending up dead. Julia, just released from a mental hospital, snitches an Easter lily to place beside her strangled aunt and wins the title of Suspect No. 1. Mother Cynthia cannot bear the thought and commandeers Gin once again–this time to solve the crime.

Here’s the set-up for Donna Huston Murray’s Final Arrangements, just $2.99 on Kindle:

Gin’s mother trades a ride to the world-renowned Philadelphia Flower show for two passes to see it before the public arrives, a good deal until Iffy Bigelow, their #1 passenger, turns up strangled, ostensibly by their #2 passenger, Iffy’s emotionally disturbed niece.

Mom begs Gin to unearth the real murderer. “You’ve done it before, now you can you can do it for me.”

Gin Barnes never expected to become a detective, but when the Main Line horticulturist she escorts to the Philadelphia Flower Show is strangled, she finds herself seeking a vicious killer among the world’s most famous green thumbs.

From the Reviewers:

If you love the mysteries of Carolyn G. Hart, Jill Churchill, and Diane Mott Davidson, you’ll definitely want to add this new series to your library. — Nancy Pickard

The Philadelphia Flower Show is an event that draws thousands, and for good reason. It’s bright, colorful, dramatic and fun, just like this book! Gin Barnes is a down-to-earth woman who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty, both literally and figuratively, and when she gets drawn into a mystery, she draws you right in with her. If you like memorable local color, quirky characters and real suspense, this is the book for you.

Love Gin Barnes. Loved the background stuff about the flower show – who knew? And I didn’t guess the ending. Hope there are more…
I really enjoyed the original version of this book and am happy to have the updated Kindle version. It really kept me in suspense until the end, and the characters are great fun. I’m glad to read it again.

Anyone who’s been to the Philadelphia Flower Show will really enjoy this book. (It’s fun even if you haven’t been, too!) The original book has been nicely updated for the Kindle version.

Like her series character, Ginger Barnes, Donna Huston Murray was transplanted to Philadelphia’s very “in” Main Line when her husband became head of a small private school. Both love trying to solve all sorts of problems, and although neither has any tolerance for pretentiousness, “Only Gin gets to make cheeky remarks to strangers.”

Donna Huston Murray and her alter-ego, Ginger Barnes, are almost identical. Both love people, have an earthy sense of humor, and like to think they can fix anything. You can bet that if Gin hangs a chandelier or wrecks a faucet, Murray has done it, too. Fortunately, Gin is “taller, smarter, and braver,” because she stumbles over dead bodies far more often than you might expect.

In addition to the seven Ginger Barnes Main Line mysteries originally published by St. Martin’s Press, Murray has written for MYSTERY SCENE MAGAZINE, READER’S DIGEST, ECHELON, and REDBOOK. Her work can also be found in the Edgar-award winning companion book, THE FINE ART OF MURDER, and the LETHAL LADIES I and II anthologies by Berkley. Her most recent title, LIE LIKE A RUG, received a 4-1/2 star review from ROMANTIC TIMES magazine.

Murray’s husband, Hench, is an educational consultant. They live outside of Philadelphia and have two adult children, Robynne, and Casey.

Inviolate is a moving story about the emotional and psychological impact of sexual assault on its victims.” –Todd Rutherford, The Publishing Guru

Inviolate

Here’s the set-up:

Inviolate is about a young girl who is brutally raped but learns to accept that while her physical virginity was stolen from her, only she can choose when and to whom she will surrender her innocence spiritually. A novel about love and friendship, the story depicts the blind innocence of young girls unaware that potential danger from sex predators can occur at any time, and it relates the love that binds a family together and supports them after a tragic event disrupts their lives. It describes the terror and humiliation of sexual assault and the long-lasting trauma victims suffer afterward, as well as the collateral damage that is inflicted on their loved ones.

Inviolate compares the conflicting character of two men–one a violent sex predator who is able to hide his deviate psyche from even those closest to him; the other a gentle and kind man who loves baseball and mentoring youth sports, but who will one day be suspected of being a pedophile–and it illustrates the contradictions inherent in human nature when circumstantial events suggest that a person who is respected and trusted may be capable of committing an evil act.

Eighth grade student Connie Wojcik is walking home from a Halloween party when she is accosted by two men wearing Star Wars masks and forced into their car. High school senior Gene Gillian brutally rapes Connie before his partner belatedly intervenes and escorts her to safety. When Connie later identifies her attacker’s voice, Gene’s mother perjures herself to keep her son from going to prison and Connie is left to struggle with her psychological and emotional trauma while her family copes with the affect her assault has on their own lives. It is a therapist who was herself a victim of childhood sexual molestation who coaches Connie to accept that only her physical virginity was stolen and that her virtue will remain with her until the day she chooses to share her body with a man she loves, and helps the young girl recover her confidence and self esteem.

Years later, Connie and her husband have become close friends with Alan Thornton, the Human Resources Director at a northern Colorado hospital where Connie is a nurse. Alan was a senior in college when he befriended Tiffany Johnson, a twelve-year-old with a preternatural sexuality who at first shocked and then later enchanted him with her flirtatious nature and sometimes outrageous personal questions. Alan became the young girl’s mentor and tried to guide her from following in the promiscuous footsteps of her divorced mother. However, it was an innocent incident that occurred during the time Alan and Tiffany knew each other that will later lead to Alan’s broken engagement from the woman he loves, and continue to haunt him after that when he is suspected of molesting a young player on the girls’ softball team he coaches.

What the Reviewers Say
“Inviolate makes you cringe and makes you angry. Inviolate is a book that needed to be written and kudos to Michael Link for having the courage to write it.”
–Carolyn F. Piner

“This novel is an excellent treatment of all forms of sexual indecency, both in the adults who prey on innocent young children like Connie and the equally inappropriate and shocking sexuality of twelve-year old Tiffany. Through both Connie and Tiffany, we are reminded that children are often forced to grow up too fast and lose their innocence at too young of an age, whether it is stolen from them by a sexual predator or by their environment and upbringing.”
–thebeardenexperience

“As a mother of a twelve year old girl, I found this book to be a tremendous tool for helping me explain to her the realities behind sexual assault. Gene Gillian is the All American teenage boy who happens to also be a sexual predator. He can be lurking in any home in any city or town across the nation. This book helps to demonstrate the evolution of such predators as well as the emotional and physical recovery of “Connie”, the victim. This is a must read for anyone with school aged children.”
–Sandra Parker
