We love the ancient Greeks for giving us all those flawed, mischievous and even mean-spirited gods who act, to varying degrees, like ourselves and people we know. Earth Shaker starts with the discovery of the surprisingly well-preserved remains of the Monitor, perhaps the worst of the gods, and carries us along with another monster, the expedition leader, who is willing to do anything for godlike fame and power. This a well-crafted, high-stakes adventure that interweaves an international cast of characters and subplots that -- though modern and fresh -- seem predestined. It's a hard book to put down.

About the Author

Richard Guimond began his writing and fishing career at the age of 14. From a small skiff, to a fleet of 100 ft vessels, he became one of the youngest fishermen in New England to venture into the no man’s land of the Continental Shelf. He battled stormy weather, cranky crews and the Russian Fishing Fleet. Guimond even brought a lawsuit against the Soviet Union and won a monetary settlement, a bottle of vodka and a visit from the F.B.I. After many years as a fisherman, he sold his company and took up writing full time. He has written five novels and many award-winning screenplays.
