Here’s the set-up:

Sooner or later, everyone will need a lawyer. When that time comes, this book will become the best investment you’ve ever made!

It’s a certainty that someday in the lives of us all, we’ll have the need for legal services. My guidebook provides the reader with the practical information they should have when that day arrives.

The concept is that the average person has been kept in the dark far too long about the truth of how lawyers operate and interact with clients and those in search of an attorney. There is a shroud of mystery surrounding lawyers that fosters misinformation, prejudice, distrust and confusion. The aim of this book is to penetrate this shroud and solve the mystery. To accomplish this purpose, I inform, educate and illustrate what clients need to know.

Armed with new found knowledge and awareness, the layperson will be able to approach the attorney/client relationship with confidence rather than distrust and apprehension. This, in turn, will empower them to challenge the lawyer in ways that will save money, time and disappointment.

My book falls into the genre of a how-to book. Readers do not generally buy a how-to book and expect to be entertained. However, readers of “Legal Ease, Your Essential Guide To Lawyers Shysters And Ambulance Chasers” are in for a pleasant surprise. I have inserted, in between the pointers and practical advice, personal anecdotes that reflect some of the humor and drama of my experience in the legal arena. This format provides an entertainment bonus rarely part of a how-to or self-help book.

Clients have been exploited by lawyers in a multitude of ways that have come to be accepted as the norm. It is my mission to expose the imbalance in the attorney/client relationship. I suggest ways and means for the client to assert his rights and restore equilibrium to the relationship.

A secondary theme of this book is to expose the under-belly of the legal profession and the culture of greed that has come to identify lawyers. What started with the exorbitant fees of big law firms has spilled over to smaller firms as well as sole practitioners. Attorney fees have increased to the point where they bear no reasonable relationship to the value of the service performed. This abuse is known and tolerated by the organized bar.

As a consequence of this prevailing virus of greed, needed legal services are fast becoming out of the economic reach for all but the wealthy and privileged citizens of this country. A quote from a big firm lawyer taken from my book “that a claim for $50,000 was too paltry a sum to try to recover and not worth chasing,” illustrates the point. It’s time that someone within the profession challenges this type of greedy arrogance and speaks up for the average man
and woman, and that is precisely what I do.

From The Author

The following are questions I pose and answer in my book: 1. Are legal services beyond the financial reach of the average citizen? 2. If so, what can be done to change this situation? 3. Is this a problem that the organized bar should address? 4. How rampant is the practice of overcharging clients? 5. Is there anything that clients can do about being overcharged? 6. Are fees based upon an hourly rate too subject to abuse? 7. Should legal fees be more result oriented? 8. Shouldn’t lawyers adjust what they charge when pleadings are strictly computer generated? The people want answers to these questions, and they deserve a response as well as meaningful reform. The complexities of today’s society necessitates the demand for specialized legal help. Furthermore , the legal profession has a long history of fulfilling this need to our citizenry. That need is not currently being met . Should professional assistance be reserved for only the exclusive domain of the rich? I think not!! My book explores the ways and means that will inform and assist the average person to avail themselves to legal services when the need arises.
