How Big Is Your God?

This eye-opening new book challenges readers to reevaluate their perceptions of God, and it thoughtfully exposes many misconceptions that are commonly found in the church of our day. Who’s Your Father? explains how our concept of God has grown increasingly flawed, and it reveals how we have been taught to view our sovereign Father as a benevolent gentleman who won’t interfere with human free will. By fostering this view, we’ve unknowingly created a weak, unreliable, and frustrated God who we falsely believe will only occasionally choose to use his divine power to actively work in our lives in a powerful and effective manner.

Readers are led into a deeper understanding of the real God of the Bible and shown the path to a new and immensely satisfying relationship with their loving Father. This compelling work is a thought-provoking and inspirational examination of how today’s church views God. As the church struggles to truly experience the unchanging love of our heavenly Father and to rest confidently in God’s perfect purpose for each of our lives, the cause of this crucial deficiency is usually overlooked. Writing from the down to earth perspective of a well-versed layperson, Bernecker skillfully shows how we rob ourselves of incredible blessings when we miss the vital connection between the unlimited sovereignty and the unbounded love of the true God of the Bible.

Kirkus adds that Bernecker’s points are “well-researched and well-articulated,” giving the reader “a thought-provoking look at the modern definition of God.”  Amazon reviewer carpenterdaughter writes, “Bernecker faces some tough questions and doesn’t attempt to defend God. He declares and reveals God. He points readers to the truth, and he uses God’s own word to do it.”

An illuminating look at the true nature of God and his dealings with mankind, this extraordinarily insightful book will change readers’ lives across the globe.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“A penetrating view into the relationship between God’s love and God’s sovereignty. Although at times provocative, if the reader can set aside his preconceived notions of God, the book leads the reader into a new confidence in the God of the Bible. Well documented, well written – I highly recommend this book.”

“A wonderful, thoughtful, and meaningful book on the presence of God. It is both classic and contemporary in its expression of biblical truth, and it is written with a spiritual elegance that is both edifying and engaging. I resonated so well with his spiritual journey, finding some commonalities in my own faith progress.”

About The Author

I am a 49 year old layperson and a long time student of God’s word. I recently retired after nearly 30 years as a successful businessman at the helm of a multi-million dollar company. During those years, I often witnessed the undeniable hand of God in my life and in my business. In recent years, however, as I read the entire Bible many times in many translations, God’s Word began to reveal to me how I had formed many false notions about his nature and his loving involvement in every area of my life. It is a large portion of this transforming revelation that is presented in Who’s Your Father?

Over the years, I have served in virtually every possible lay position in the church. I have led ministries, taught innumerable classes and Bible studies, and chaired many boards. As a ministry to the church, I have operated a second business of designing and/or installing audio video systems for churches for the past 15 years. This ministry includes the personal training of volunteer operators for these systems. This consulting business has provided me with an invaluable opportunity to meet, experience, and worship with God’s people from many different denominations and backgrounds.

As a result of being so thoroughly immersed in the church from a very young age, I possess a firm grasp on the teachings of the church of our day. Moreover, this considerable experience within the church has provided me with the rare and valuable perspective of a layman who is well-acquainted with the various views of the issues confronted in this work as well as an insightful, experiential understanding of the emotional responses to these issues by the laypeople who sit in the congregation each week. Indeed, I have intimately experienced both the problem and the solution. Who’s Your Father? is written to share this knowledge with God’s people, and it will enlighten them as to how far the church has deviated from the teachings of the leaders of the Reformation who established the Protestant church.
