About the author:

Brandon Stanberg originally grew up in East Africa – in Nairobi, Kenya within a heavily-sheltered expatriate community. He loved his childhood, however was under the constant threat of poor security which made Brandon and his family the targets of gun-point theft and late night home raids by gun men.

In 1982, at age 19 he went to university in the United Kingdom to study English Literature. He was diagnosed with a chronic condition, an autoimmune disorder of the liver which meant that he could no longer engage in the same activities as other university students such as drinking, eating pretty much anything under the sun and going to parties that finished in the wee hours of the morning. It was a struggle – however he recovered fully, managing his lifestyle and medication and graduated with a first class honours degree. He went to work for a major publishing house in the United Kingdom.

However despite the initial success, he realized quickly that the corporate world was not for him. It was a highly strung environment with its own fair share of dog-eat-dog politics. In the midst of it, he was just coming out of a difficult relationship. To make matters worse the stress resulted in another flare up. This was probably the lowest point in his life – however through the struggle and hardship he developed 12 strategies that helped him bounce back up and turn his life around.

He now lives in the leafy suburb of Hampstead in the United Kingdom with his wife and kids, inspiring, empowering and teaching these 12 strategies. The strategies focus on areas such as living your values, being true to yourself, increasing resilience and using creativity, gratitude and hope to manifest your dreams and goals. Brandon draws on a variety of cognitive and positive psychology techniques as well as his own philosophies and lessons learnt during his lifetime.
