Israel, Our Frankenstein

by Arthur Paone

Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Paone compares Israeli and American societies, including relevant laws, to determine whether they share “common core values” as claimed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), an assumption which forms the foundation for American military and financial support of Israel.

His analysis includes the topics of democracy, freedom of religion, equality, housing, freedom of speech and the rule of law.

He concludes that not only do America and Israel not share any core values, but their principles are inherently incompatible. Yet AIPAC’s false mantra is never far from the lips of almost every U.S. politician.

AIPAC continues portraying Israel as it was in 1948 — finally, a homeland, though fragile, for the world’s Jews and a refuge for Holocaust survivors. But that image no longer reflects the reality of today’s Israel: the Superpower of the Middle East which is coming under the control of extremists; a nation repeatedly abusing its military power to unleash criminal violence on a defenseless population and a harsh jailer of four million people.

A nuclear Israel, a 67-year old nation of seven million, is a far more serious threat to the world than a nuclear Iran, a nation of 70 million with its thousands of years of civilized society. There is no self-destructive gang in Iran at all comparable to that of the ultra-orthodox and settlers in Israel who would be willing to see our world destroyed rather than give up their delusional visions.

The United States has lost any meaningful influence over the nation it helped create and still blindly sustains.

Paone suggests that Jewish Americans are the only ones with the capacity to deflect Israel from its present dangerous course. Though, he also notes, it may already be out of anyone’s control. The coalition of ultra-orthodox “know-nothings,” of settlers and of right-wing nationalists from the former Soviet Union are getting closer to running Israel on its own, including, and this is most worrisome, its nuclear arsenal.

“Imhotep” is the first book in a four-novel series about the ancient Egyptian architect.
Stumbling in the dark of an unfinished tomb beneath the sands of Saqqara, American tourist Tim Hope unknowingly passes through a time portal that leads to ancient Egypt — a time before the Sphinx, before the great pyramids of Giza, and long before the loss of his beloved Addy.
When he discovers that two other Americans preceded him through the time portal, Tim immerses himself in the ancient world to search for them. As he becomes more comfortable with the simpler, more immediate land, he finds himself irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.
Learning that a seven-year famine has led to a plot to overthrow King Djoser, Tim discovers that his fate, the lives of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate adviser to King Djoser.
Downloaded by more than 100,000 readers, “Imhotep” is the first book in an acclaimed four-book series about the ancient Egyptian architect Imhotep. The second book in the series is “The Buried Pyramid.” The third book is “The Forest of Myrrh.” The fourth book is “The Field of Reeds.”

The Iron Sword (The Fae War Chronicles Book 1)

by Jocelyn Fox
4.6 stars – 234 reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

“THE IRON SWORD is a delightful start to a promising new fantasy series, and it’s well worth a read, particularly for the reader who never outgrew the best fairy tales.”- Catherine Langrehr for IndieReader

Tess O’Connor has never fought in a duel, ridden a Fae steed descended from a dragon, or touched taebramh, the magical substance that gives mortals dreams. She has never faced down a garrelnost or traveled the hidden mysterious pathways between the mortal world and the realm of the Fae. She has never felt a magnetic attraction to a perilously handsome Sidhe knight with eyes as deep and impenetrable as the ocean. Tess O’Connor stopped believing in fairy tales as a child when her father died…but all that changes when she discovers that her best friend Molly is half-Fae—and has been summoned to the Unseelie Court by Queen Mab herself. The Queen of Night and Winter sends Finnead, one of her trinity of Named Knights, to escort Molly to Court, willingly or unwillingly. Mab believes that Molly is the fulfillment of a prophesy, the half-Fae child foretold to become the bearer of the Iron Sword, a legendary weapon that could mean the difference between victory and defeat for the Fae in their struggle against an ancient evil. While Tess quickly learns she is no match for the shadow spreading through the Fae world, she refuses to let her best friend face it alone; and as the first mortal in Queen Mab’s court in over five hundred years, she must use all her quick wit and tenacity to keep herself and Molly alive in the beautiful, dangerous Fae world as they hurtle toward the war that could destroy it…

Here’s the set-up:
As WW II grinds to an end in the rubble of Nazi Germany, all eyes turn to the next ‘cold’ one. The Americans, the Russians, and the British know the future belongs to whomever can grab Hitler’s new rockets, jet fighters, and ‘wonder weapons,’ because they will shape the balance of world power for decades to come. Old enemies are tomorrow’s allies, old friends can no longer be trusted, and lies and double-dealing are the norm in this spy vs spy thriller. Caught in the cross-fire is the torrid but impossible romance between Ed Scanlon, a brilliant American OSS agent and Hanni Steiner, the gritty, street-smart leader of the communist resistance cell in Leipzig. They find themselves on opposite ends of a tug of war over the plans for Germany’s revolutionary Me-262 jet fighter that is now sweeping the skies of American B-17s. To succeed, Ed and Hanni must not only outwit each other, they must stay one-step ahead of Otto Dietrich, the sadistic Gestapo Chief of Leipzig, who has plans of his own for the jet fighter plans, and Scanlon’s perfidious British handlers who suddenly have an agenda of their own. The stakes could not be higher. Driven by the uncompromising dictates of Josef Stalin, Lavrenti Beria, Allen Dulles, Heinrich Himmler, and Winston Churchill, they must succeed or die, and the winner will indeed lose all. Combining the best of World War II historical fiction, action adventure, and romance, this fast-paced spy thriller will resonate.

5-Stars!  Glynn Young, Amazon Reviewer:   “An exciting, riveting read that explores courage and treachery, love and fear. Another crackerjack novel of World War II, following last year’s Amongst My Enemies. The reader is right there, carried along for one wild, breathtaking ride.”
