Here’s the set-up:

Private eye Jack Harris is at the end of his tether. Troubled by the ever lingering memories of his past, and beset with financial woes and the seething atmosphere and corruption of contemporary Washington DC, he wants out of the game, but he simply has nowhere else to go.

But then, a seemingly simple case of Congressional adultery arrives at his doorstep. But appearances can be deceiving, for Jack Harris is thrust into a series of startling events and affairs, involving financial institutions, the military-industrial complex, and above all the politicos and the leaders of the nation’s capital. And yet, the connections are vague, and the purposes mysterious, but the story surely hurtles to an ultimately stunning conclusion.

And so, American Noir involves action, drama, mystery, and introspection, all while adding a most unusual series of passages and interludes that seem to address the reader him/herself!
But such is the case of a true noir, for the darkness seems overwhelming. But maybe, just maybe, there exists the slightest glimmer of light and salvation…

Here’s the set-up:

Taking place across the utterly fantastical locales of the universe as seen through the eyes of several characters, The Rider is a new science fiction epic wherein humanity finds itself in the throes of a centuries-long war against an utterly inscrutable alien opponent. In a bold gambit to end the battle once and for all, the world’s top minds gather to enact the impossible: the creation of a perfect interstellar pilot, otherwise known as a rider.

But what results is as shocking as it is profound, and this startling series of events all takes place against the backdrop of war and discovery, of person and triumph and tragedy, of memories and times of trial and joy. And so, from the titanic battle to the introspective struggle of the individual, The Rider carries forth all this and more, for, in the grandest tradition of true science fiction, the novel raises a number of philosophical and religious questions. After all, it is said that the universe is as wonderful as it is mysterious, and so see it all first hand with one of the finest novels written in years: The Rider.

About The Author

Austin Cunningham is a writer and entrepreneur who lives near Atlanta, Georgia. From a young age, he has been drawn to the written word, and he always thought that he would make a decent writer. That is, once he could finally sit down and start writing.

And so he waited. And he fretted. And he procrastinated. And then he waited some more. But after ten long years, he at last overcame his fears and started writing seriously in 2011. Since then, he has continued to write with an impassioned intensity, and he has subsequently completed seven novels, four short story collections, two novellas, one stage play, one parody, one non-fiction work, one serial, one lengthy narrative poem, one collection of poetry, and one modern comic book.

Besides writing, Austin enjoys playing tennis, playing the piano, watching movies, developing business plans, and, of course, reading whatever he can. And not just fiction, either, for he enjoys anything related to history, economics, politics, business, or international affairs. He has also worked with two startups, and he holds a degree in the social sciences from Harvard University Extension School.
