Here’s the set-up:

James Scottsdale did all the right things: he went to school and studied the right things, he had all the right friends, the love of a good woman and the support of his family. And then the economic crisis began and his secure life slipped and fractured.
Now, age 25, he lives on his mother’s couch, with no direction and his companions have evaporated with his money. All of that changes when The Boston 395 appears in his living room. The Boston 395 is like no train you have ever seen. Each stop exits into James’ life, revealing truths he would rather not deal with. Guided by The Conductor and populated by elements of his shattered persona, The Boston 395 will take James to places he never expected.THE BOSTON 395 is a novella, sitting in the literary arena of magical realism/fantasy. The book follows its own rules and weaves an interesting world for the reader to get lost in, and to wrestle with.

About The Author

I like to make things up, sometimes big things, sometimes small things. Always fun things and always stories. On rainy days I like to drink coffee, listen to jazz and imagine wonderful, dark and beautiful things. I like short stories and long stories. I like fantasy and science-fiction but not in the way you might think. I like horror stories, but not monsters and ghosts and people meeting grisly ends. I like the horror of the every day, the tragic that happens in an average day and the wonderful fantastic people who bravely confront that horror and make the world a better place. I think firemen and soldiers are heroes but I also think fathers, clergymen and women, mothers, grandmothers, peace makers and social workers are heroes. I studied Creative Writing at Eastern Washington University and I am happy for every moment of it. Check out Jason’s website at http://jasonauthor.wordpress.com/.

Here's the set-up:
When Cherie Marshall catches her fiancé and best friend in a compromising position, she cancels her upcoming wedding and jumps at the chance to escape to quiet Klondike, Pennsylvania to care for her elderly aunt. She thought her biggest issue would be adapting to life in the middle of a National Forest, so very different from her upbringing in the deserts of Arizona.

But that was before she met State Trooper Fire Marshall Jamison "Jazz" Maddox at the scene of a mysterious fire. As they both become acquainted with the close-knit Klondike residents, things get complicated as Cherie and Jazz find themselves in the middle of a local crime wave where arson, kidnapping, embezzlement and a decades old murder are just the tip of the iceberg.

Here’s the set-up:

“The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Sleaze-Free Selling” introduces Julia Kline’s 3-step Sleaze-Free Sales formula.  This formula is a step-by-step blueprint to develop an effective, yet heart-centered, sales and marketing strategy for small business.

By reading this book, readers make a profound shift in the way they approach their customers. And by so shifting, begin to sell a lot more of products and services.

First, readers will lay a new foundation for their sales strategy through introspection about how they currently approach sales, customers and their goals. This is accomplished by reviewing their own current sleaze factor.

Second, they learn tactics to de-sleaze their sales process – fresh, surprising techniques to help them remember that their customer is a real person, one who does not respond well to the sleaze button. And of course, readers learn practical methods for turning their prospects’ “no’s” into “yeses” using these new, sleaze-free techniques.

Third, once their mindset has been shifted to this more heart-centered approach, Ms. Kline turns the reader to practical application.  Topics include how to gain all the clients one ever needs, how to talk to potential clients about buying, and how to close the sale.
In short, by committing to read this book and complete the Action Plans at the end of every chapter, readers will:

* No longer think of sales as the most distasteful part of their job as a business owner
* Be fired up to go out and sell
* Feel no hesitation or queasiness about telling customers how much they charge, and asking them to pay it
* Be eager to go out and meet lots of prospective new customers
* Have customers equally eager to engage in conversations
* Start making a whole lot more sales!

Unbridled Greed

by Barry Johnson

Here’s the set-up:

Bryan Hampton, a fifty-four year old U.S. Department of Justice investigator, has dedicated his law enforcement career to fighting health care fraud and abuse. This persistent and growing crime robs Americans of hundreds of billions of dollars every year, and because of the comparatively low risk and poor enforcement of these crimes, organized crime rings are becoming more and more active in the health care arena. With increasing numbers of health care expenditures falling under federal government programs, Hampton knows the losses and damages will onlyescalate, and he’s committed to finding more proactive and innovative ways of uncovering the schemes and convicting the fraudsters responsible. Months ofinvestigation by his team prove a crooked dermatologist is being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for services he bills but never provides to his patients. Hampton’s efforts to convict the physician are thwarted by Al Tacovic, a corrupt U.S. Attorney for the Illinois Chicago District, who because of his own political aspirations and greed, refuses to prosecute the physician.

Hampton finally tires of fighting corruption and cronyism in Chicago and transfers to Las Vegas to work with a former college classmate, Paul Dixon, newly appointed as the U. S. Attorney for the Nevada District. Dixon has vowed to aggressively fight health care fraud and abuse, because he understands it is a crime that victimizes countless patients, all taxpayers, and everyone who pays a health care premium. Hampton and Dixon team up with two private sector organizations and using sophisticated new software, massive data resources, and traditional investigative efforts, they uncover a highly organized fraud scheme swindling insurers of millions of dollars every month. What they don’t realize until it’s too late, is the degree of violence the criminals are willing to inflict, in order to feed their greed. While the characters in the story are fictional, the activities of the professional criminals and the methods they exploit in order to steal from insurers and government programs are based on actual fraud schemes. This powerful book is designed to be entertaining as well as informative. The story exposes the corruption, greed and violence surrounding the crooks who perpetuate the fraud, while also delivering engaging insights into the lives and challenges of the authorities who pursue them.
