A fun and ghostly cozy mystery from USA TODAY Bestselling Author Rose Pressey

Who knew ghosts could send text messages?

If ever a whole town could be haunted, Devil’s Moon, Kentucky would be that town. Ripley Van Raden, or Rip as her friends call her, has come back to her hometown to start her own ghost tour business. That’s not her only career path though. Librarian by day, and ghost tour guide by night, Rip is ready to take on the ghosts following her around and the mysterious residents who show up for more than the tour in the Devil’s Moon Cemetery.

Her first day on the job as librarian, Ripley finds a dead body and a ghost who can only communicate through electronics. Who knew ghosts could send text messages? To make things even more complicated, Ripley meets a hot cop who happens to also be a ghost hunter. She doesn’t know if Brannon Landon is interested in helping her or just around for the paranormal activity.

When Rip discovers threatening notes between the pages of a novel, she must solve the library patron’s mysterious death before she unwillingly joins the other side of her haunted tour.

Here’s the set-up:

Meet Levi Masterson… I’ve never had a problem with the ladies. I’ve got all the right equipment and I know how to use it. But my life just landed in a blender and my head is still spinning. So when Harlow Hartley comes jackknifing into my world like a tornado, I try to steer clear. She’s my sister’s best friend. She’s having a tough time right now, and I was asked to let her move in with me until she can get on her feet. With Low at the house, dripping with attitude, dancing around in those tight jeans, that T-shirt that stretches in all the right places, I’m ready to lose what’s left of my mind. Sure she’s beautiful and smart, but she’s mouthy and feisty as can be. As tempted as I am to try to land my mouth over hers, my sister made it clear that Low is off limits. As much as I’d like to think that’s a good thing, I can’t seem to shake the need to have her. Maybe it’s time to scratch that itch—something quick and dirty that takes the edge off for the both of us and we can call it a day. But nothing in life is ever that simple—sometimes your heart gets in the way.

Here’s the set-up:

The old beast is up to something out of character here.

Gabriel appears autistic because he hears a voice. The voice is real, but it is a supernatural presence. This voice gives him a power that he can transfer by touch. Gabriel does not trust this presence, though he finds that the wonder of what he is experiencing is far too great for him to resist.

Gabriel’s “autism” is really a defense against the weight of the power that has engulfed his heart, mind and soul, from the very beginning. He has no memory of his parents and in actuality, the voice, which causes him so much distress, is the only reality he has ever known. Living in an orphanage in Austin, Texas, all of his life, the voice has shown him more attention and love than any other person.

He befriends one other special young person in that orphanage, Joshua Fellows. Joshua also has experienced little love in his short life. The bond between these two young boys is the beginning of an amazing journey.

Together, they find the strength to take the gift, and to use it for good. They will ultimately discover that the presence is not at all who they expected.

I will humbly submit that this book is written in the spirit of Dean Koontz’s works and also Stephen King’s works. I am searching for that spirit and voice in this novel! More to come!

Suspense and mysticism take the reader on a fantastic journey! I found myself relating to this child with a special gift. This book is a real page-turner” – Christopher D. Morgan, New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author of the Portallas series.

Praise for Kari August: “Entertaining, original, exceptionally well written . . . impressive storytelling talents.” Midwest Book Review

The harsh and rugged Colorado frontier of 1875 is not the type of place most would consider suitable for a recent widow to establish a home of her own. Yet that is exactly what Henrietta Schodde determines she will do as she impetuously buys a cabin in the newly forming settlement of Estes Park. Despite assurances from Henrietta that the locals appear amiable, her relatives are concerned and recruit the assistance of long-time family friend Collan Wallace, who unbeknownst to Henrietta, has also just begun homesteading in the area.
The last thing Collan desires is to watch over the woman who has been his nemesis since childhood. But the pair quickly realize that there is more than each other to fight about when they discover an unscrupulous Englishman, Lord Dunraven, is hungry for their land.
Endearing and engaging, Settling the Wind, is historical fiction based on actual events that reveals the courage of Colorado’s pioneers in the face of more struggles than they could have imagined.

Here’s the set-up:

“You can almost hear the whispering conspiracies and intrigues in the court of Nicholas and Alexandra. … A dramatic history with a touch of true crime.”–Steve Jackson, New York Times bestselling author of NO STONE UNTURNED

At last a book about the so-called “Mad Monk” of Imperial Russia that lays to rest the myths and reveals the truth about one of the most controversial characters in human history while exploring the impact his murder had on a dynasty, a people, and a country.

Written in three parts, KILLING RASPUTIN begins with a biography that describes how a simple unkempt “holy man” from the wilds of Siberia became a friend of Emperor Nicholas II and his empress, Alexandra, at the most crucial moment in Russian history. Part Two examines the infamous murder of Rasputin through the lens of a “cold case” homicide investigation. And lastly, the book considers the connection between a cold-blooded assassination and the revolution that followed; a revolution that led to civil war and the rise of the Soviet Union.

Unique about this book on Rasputin, is that the author combines Russian heritage (her parents were forced out of Russia during World War II and arrived as refugees in Australia in 1948) with medical science and legal training. Nelipa relied on Russian-language sources that she translated rather than depend on the interpretations of others. Her primary sources include police documents and witness testimonies, an autopsy report, diaries, letters and memoirs written in their native language by the participants in these historic events. Secondary sources include Russian-languages newspapers and other publications from that era. The narrative is copiously referenced and augmented with photographs (including graphic forensic photographs) and other documents, some of them published here for the first time.

Step into the imperial court of a 300-year-old dynasty in its final days with one of the most fascinating characters ever to grab our imaginations, judge whether Margarita Nelipa makes her case regarding his death, and if you agree that it was “the murder that ended the Russian empire.”
