Supernaturally on the case!
Celestine LeBlanc and Luna Finley are the Sleuths of Shadow Salon.

Shadow Salon detectives Luna and Celestine take on their second case, when Tim Calhoun insists his Conservatory of Theater Arts has been cursed, and the police have come up dry. He claims a red specter is terrorizing him, upturning his library of historic plays, setting fires in the theater, even brutalizing him. Tim is desperate to solve this terrifying mystery before Hollywood directors and agents flock to Savannah to watch his students perform and hopefully sign them.

The 1811 anonymous play is The Romance of the Recording Angels. Hazardous incidents follow rehearsals. Luna interviews students, inspects dorms and the library, where she unearths a copy of the play with strange red notations. She hires Arthur Dodge, a necro-visionary to find out who drew them. The shocking entity he resurrects reveals that three aerial realms must be unlocked to end an actual curse. But as time runs out, where the realms are, what must be done in them and just why the curse was inflicted remains a mystery.

To uncover clues, Luna uses her water magic and flight skills, while resisting her growing attraction to client, Tim. Celestine shares tips from her automatic drawings. As time runs out, Luna must try anything: Dodge’s visionary tea, Hoodoo Root Worker, Selka Dupree’s spell jars, and farmer Crow Dao’s lessons in realm jumping. If Luna fails to reach the realms, the conservatory will be shuttered, the curse will spread… and worse.

Here’s the set-up:

In Strangers and Angels, Gabe Reaume presents a new collection of stories about life, making a living, and living life to the fullest. From early days in rural America, to an unusual friendship as a young man with a woman old enough to be his grandmother, to an account of rising through the ranks in his chosen profession, these stories introduce an interesting cast of characters and a heart-warming look at what the world can bring you if you work hard and stay open to the unexpected circumstances and people placed in your midst.

Strangers and Angels is about making dreams come true, not only through perseverance and positive thinking but also through kindness–or, as Reaume prefers, “You win with people.” Everyone he meets along the way, from a Michigan dairy farmer to a cranky old rancher and above all, one very special granny plays a role in this bighearted memoir that will inspire and delight you.

A reminder that it is in the little moments that we impact a person’s life

The nature of the book made me look back upon my life and appreciate those moments when someone extended me a helping hand or even did as little as checking up on me when I did not even know I needed it. If you would like to feel genuinely warm and fuzzy inside from relatable content, this might be the book you have been looking for. It is so simple and beautiful that I could not help but keep reading and seeing what other way people would be a spark of light in a dark world.

–Reitumetse Mokoena, Reedsy Discovery Reviewer

Strangers & Angels by Gabe Reaume…It’s a terrific read by a city manager here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I was struck by something one of the readers noted in a review.

Here’s what she wrote: It’s a reminder that it is in the little moments that we impact a person’s life.

That’s the career of a public servant in a nutshell. I know it’s more complicated than that, but at its heart, public service has an impact on people’s lives. In big ways and in small, what public servants do matters. They all matter.

I wish everyone in public service could read this review or, better yet, read the book. They should know that what they do—even the small things, maybe especially the small things—has an impact.

I think public servants, especially those in local government, could use a sign of their own to remind them of their importance in the world. It could read: It’s in the little moments that we impact a person’s life.

Diana Sangster is a powerful business tycoon who always gets what she wants. Now that I’ve signed on to serve as her bodyguard, I’ll spend twenty-four hours a day with the sexiest woman I’ve ever met.

But that annoying other shoe just smacked down on my head.

Diana wants me to be her “donor.” No, she’s not asking for my kidney or my life savings. She wants to have a baby—by screwing me repeatedly until we hit the jackpot. To protect her public image and her privacy, she insists I keep our arrangement a secret. Once that stick turns pink, we go back to strictly business, and I get a sweet promotion.

I must be crazy. Why else would I accept her deal? Well, I’ve always loved trouble.

Here’s the set-up:

On planet Turaset, droughts ravage farmlands, cyclones rip through coastal cities, and with every barrel of oil the combustion industry pumps from the ground, the climate worsens. Alphonse has just refused a council seat because taking it means serving that rapacious industry. He leaves the city to seek solace in the wilderness, and there, a power to live the past awakens within him. Alphonse walks the steps of his distant ancestors on long-dead Earth, soon growing plagued with memories of its collapse, and he’s left with a troubling certainty: he must infiltrate the combustion industry to secure proof of its treachery, or Turaset will be next to fall.

Alphonse finds an ally in Myrta, a farmgirl who sees air, every molecule in every pulse of breath or blast of exhaust. With her talent, she can evade the patrols on the industry’s grounds. Together, Alphonse and Myrta can prove the industry lies about emissions. They can convince the councils to shut down fossil fuel use permanently.

But people in the industry have grown wise to Myrta’s power—and now she’s marked for death.
