As he digs further, he learns the conspiracy reaches more deeply than he could have imagined. Finally, he will have to face the question, What is a father willing to do to save his child? The answer? Anything. Anything at all.

Review

“Gunhus deliver a taut supernatural thriller…the powerful Nate Huckley terrifies, and the assorted cast of human antagonists add to the white-knuckle tension. All the chops of an action-packed horror tale.” – Kirkus Reviews

From The Author

Night Chill is a supernatural thriller in the tradition of Stephen King and Dean Koontz and is intended for mature audiences. For fans of my novel Jack Templar Monster Hunter and the books of The Templar Chronicle MG/YA series, this is a complete departure from that world. First, this novel is written for adults and contains all the language adults tend to use. Second, there are strong horror elements. That doesn’t mean it’s overly gory or disgusting (not my kind of book), but I’ve had emails from readers that there are scenes that kept them up at night. Which leads me to…#3 Night Chill is scary. Not in the way a creature feature or a slasher movie is scary though.  Think instead of being home alone, the doors locked for the night, the kids asleep and, just as you close your eyes, you hear the creak of a floorboard downstairs. Followed by another. And another. Too regular and heavy for it to be anything other than someone or something that shouldn’t be there. If you can imagine that feeling of adrenaline-soaked fear and dread, then you will know what you can expect from Night Chill.

If you are a young fan of the Jack Templar books, this novel is not for you. If you are that young fan’s parent, come try out a few chapters and see if you can handle it. Let me know what you think in the reviews here and at JeffGunhus.com. Thank you.

Here’s the set-up:

Ten years ago, Emily Miller went missing when she was only five years old. Everyone in town thought she had either drowned in the lake near her house, or had been kidnapped. Some even whispered that her father, Frank Miller was responsible.

No one suspected the old boathouse behind the Miller property, except Emily’s father. Frank Miller knew what had happened to his little girl. He knew the boathouse had her.

Ten years later, thirteen-year-old George Morgan wanders into the same boathouse and discovers a magical secret. At first he’s thrilled. He reveals his secret to his fifteen-year-old brother Eddie, thinking it will bring them closer together. After all, George and Eddie used to be best friends, before they moved to town, and before Eddie started hanging out with a bunch of older boys—the same boys who make it their mission to bully George on a daily basis. But, when Eddie tells his friends about the boathouse, everything starts to go wrong.

Suddenly the cool, magical secret of the boathouse isn’t a secret anymore, and the mysteries of the past come back to haunt them, putting their lives in great danger.

Visions of Hope

Here’s the set-up:

VISIONS OF HOPE is an intriguing yet touching story about a psychic mysteriously drawn into the life of a skeptic to convince him to resume the search for his missing daughter with an outcome even the psychic could not foresee.

Libby McGraw has survived an abusive marriage and breast cancer, but because of the emotional and physical scarring, she is shy about becoming involved with anyone. She is also a psychic who has had experience in the past working with the police on finding missing children. Now, she is totally content working from home as a psychic consultant.

As fate would have it, mysterious visions draw her into the life of Kipp Reed, a skeptic of the paranormal, who has moved back to the Pacific Northwest to quell the memory of his young daughter’s disappearance. Once it becomes clear that Libby holds the keys to finding his daughter, Kipp is drawn to Libby for answers, and together they embark on an unpredictable journey of the heart.

In the meantime, Libby’s best friend, Ellen, and Kipp’s best friend, Charlie, find their own brand of happiness.

VISIONS OF HOPE is a romantic mystery, but it is not a traditional romance novel. It is a story about people with real life issues learning to open their minds and hearts to new possibilities.

One Reviewer Notes
“I must say, this is one of the most interesting stories I read in a while (and I read a lot). It had intrigue, romance, suspense, you name it. What a wonderfully written story with extremely engaging characters. I couldn’t put it down, and when I had to, I couldn’t wait until I was reading it again. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.” – Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

Here’s the set-up:
Violet Morgan puts the personal in personal chef, catering to clients who want the full cooking experience rather than a culinary drop-and-dash. But when her brother’s police detective partner is injured in the line of duty and needs help during recovery, she makes an exception. Violet lost her father to the job seven years ago, and worries for her brother’s safety every day. The last thing she wants is to get up-close with her brother’s career-cop partner…again.
For Noah Blackwell, being a detective isn’t just a lifestyle, it’s a legacy. So when he’s forced to take mandatory leave and deal with the trauma amnesia keeping him from identifying his shooter, it’s as if insult and injury have joined forces— and now he’s got to deal with an unwanted caregiver on top of it. Never mind that he and Violet shared a steamy, secret kiss last New Year’s Eve. She rejects everything related to the job, and Noah’s not about to be distracted from recovering his memory and getting back to what he does best. No matter how pretty Violet is.
Despite their differences, Violet and Noah share a surprising bond in the kitchen that grows into something neither of them expect. But as Noah heals and their feelings for each other extend from the kitchen to the bedroom, Violet knows she must make an impossible choice. She may wear her heart on her sleeve in the kitchen, but can she put love on the line?

Here’s the set-up:

Sometimes you need someone else to help you find your way.

Maria’s life was torn apart when she was fifteen, and for seven years she’s kept her terrible secret hidden from the world.  Now, in her final semester of college, she still struggles against paralyzing fear just trying to speak up in class, and the terror and helplessness linger on in her nightmares.

Across campus, Owen sees his scars in the mirror every morning while he gets ready for class. They remind him of the broken home he left behind, the father he hates and fears, and the little sister he couldn’t protect. Now, in his final semester of college, he’s scared that he may have to return to the hell he called home after staying away for almost five years.

When Owen becomes a teaching assistant for one of Maria’s classes, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. As the two learn each other’s secrets and grow closer, they realize that although they may be lost, they’re not alone anymore.

This new adult contemporary romance is recommended for ages 17+ due to heavy subject matter.

Caught in a Web is a story about being caught in many relationships that ended in horror, and how I was abused from my childhood that caused me to mistrust. Those relationships almost destroyed my life. The purpose of my story is mostly to help young women and anyone else caught in some kind of web, or who has a dysfunctional life. This story will give you some hope and some insight about your circumstances and to make the right choices, because sometimes those choices can last a lifetime.

5-Star Amazon Review

“This book is an invaluable tool in understanding and responding to the needs of individuals who have been the victims of trauma in their lives that has had the effect of impairing their ability to have healthy relationships. The book is powerful!!! This is a book I would keep on my bookshelf to refer to others who have suffered abuse. I highly recommend this book.”
