Here’s the set-up:

Honey, an inquisitive, young parakeet living in the Australian Outback, decides to become a superhero after she spies a human family watching Superman. Since she already has the power of flight, all she needs to do is create a costume to conceal her true identity and then fly off in search of animals that need rescuing.

Unfortunately, every time she tries to help, Honey only ends up making matters worse. She spoils Kangaroo’s game of hide-and-go-seek by revealing his hiding place to Wallaby; Mr. Anteater must go hungry when she alerts the ants to his presence, and Mrs. Koala is made a laughingstock among bears when Honey pretends to be her Joey. Finally realizing that she’s not as heroic as she’d like, Honey gives up her day-saving efforts.

But what happens when someone actually needs Honey’s help? Will she rise to the challenge? Honey the Hero is the first in a new series of color-illustrated books for children entitled The Bird Brain Books.

Reviews

“Honey is my favorite because she is good and cool.” – Arriana Rock, a 3-year-old reviewer

“Young readers will enjoy this book, and older readers will enjoy reading it to them!” – A well-intentioned bird lover

“This whimsical story of Honey, the heroic little bird of the Australian Outback, positively captivated me! Although Ms. Chand is a superb storyteller, it’s the lessons about heroism and life that, for me, make this such a compelling and inspirational read.” – Terri Giuliano Long, best-selling author of In Leah’s Wake

“The story is beautifully and sympathetically written, so that the young ones are not overwhelmed with big words, especially if they try to read it themselves. If you have an inquisitive young child or two, then they will love this book.” – Lynn Worton, reviewer at Book Mews and Tattle Tails

#1 Amazon Best Selling Graphic Novel in Horror and Science Fiction.

The Gods of Men have had many names, Zeus, Odin, Jupiter, Yahweh, and Allah to name just a few. These Gods have descended upon the earth in their chariots of fire since the dawn of man.  After each visitation they leave things behind, such as our first language and our knowledge of the stars.  What if there was more…

What if these “Gods” return once every few thousand years to lay waste to the planets population as their food supply, choosing only the most powerful civilization at the time to help them succeed?  In return, that civilization would be spared to repopulate the world in it’s image, until they return again thousands of years later…erasing the visitors true intentions from written history.

All the prophecies were right – the world as we know it comes to an end in 2012 with the arrival of the prophesized Wormwood comet that explodes in the atmosphere. The entire adult population of the planet quickly transforms into Wraiths, grotesque former humans out to devour uninfected humans.

Follow young Jack Foster, his trauma induced psychotic ten-year old brother Mason, and baby Lucy as they struggle to survive in a world of Gods and men.

How many times can you die for love?
For twenty-one years Rachel MacReady has skated along — pretty and carefree, with wealthy parents and plenty of friends. Fate handed Rachel everything a girl could want.  But one icy night, a car crash unlocks memories from a very different existence. In 1870s England, in a steampunk subculture of Victorian London, Rachel was Cassandra Masters, a powerful telepath sidelined by the males who ran the Order.
Cassandra sparked a rebellion so radical, its effects are still felt in the present day. She also fell for two very different men. Fellow telepath Dominic Belden — black-haired and handsome as a Greek statue — and Ted Harrington, the Order’s rebellious, hard-drinking Master Telekinetic. Both men loved her. And both have returned in the present day to seek out Rachel. But therein lies the problem. Cassandra Masters died at just twenty-one, the same age as Rachel. And one of those men may have loved her to death.

Reviews

“This is a story that starts with a bang and then keeps on going.”- vampirelibrarian.com

“I’ll admit that CAGED sucked me in, and I bought HAUNTED the minute I finished it.”  Connie Suttle, bestselling author of the Blood Destiny series

“I could not put this book down. Literally, I was the woman standing in line at the grocery store reading it on her phone. I was the woman standing in line at the post office reading it on her phone. I was the woman who ignored her husband as he was trying to talk to her about something…I have no clue what, I was reading…because I was drawn into this book from page one. The main character, Ruby, is eerily similar to many women I know. She is real. She is sarcastic. She is tough. She is brutal. She is crazy. I love her. The story line will grab a hold of you and not let go. Even now, after I have finished reading it, I want more. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series. I miss Ruby dearly. I am ecstatic that there will be more for me to ignore in the future when I continue reading this series. I may even be the woman who tells her four year old to get his own milk from the fridge…oh wait, I did that already” – Stephanie Klinker

About the Author, Amber Lynn Natusch:

If you’re dying to know more about me, allow me to put you at ease. I’m a sharp-tongued, sarcastic cancer, who loves vegetable smoothies, winter storms, and the word “portfolio”. I should NEVER be caffeinated, and require at least eight hours of sleep to even resemble a human being. At thirty-four, I just now feel like I can keep a straight face while saying the word “rectum” (which is actually a huge lie because I just laughed out loud while reading this to my husband). I live with my iPod firmly affixed to my body, drive too fast, and laugh/cry at inappropriate times.

Kindle Nation Daily Historical Romance Readers Alert! Discover Love During Time of War in Elisabeth Nelson’s HIGH GROUND – Now $2.99 on Kindle

Here’s the set-up:

“This damn war has cost me everything I love…everything that mattered, and I don’t even know why I’m fighting anymore.”

In 1860, Captain Garrett Fitzwilliam is living in the center of American politics, viewing the divisive issues of the day through his nonpartisan lawyer eyes. His life is defined by love of country and faith in the rule of law…until Rachael Hayes Kendrick enters his world. This sassy young widow captures more than the cocky captain’s imagination. She proves to him that love is indeed an act of faith, and Rachael’s faith in Garrett is indomitable. Her faith will sustain him when war divides the North and the South; his misguided sense of duty may cost him her love. But for what exactly did he pay so high a price?

In the wake of war, everything Garrett believes in, the core of his existence, is collapsing. The Union army suffers repeated defeats not owing entirely to the brilliance of Robert E. Lee’s command of the Confederate army, and in Washington, a very different enemy has emerged. This insidious enemy poses a threat to the United States that Garrett never thought possible. But this enemy no officer may dare to challenge.

So how will Garrett Fitzwilliam defend his country when his country’s survival depends upon an army sabotaged by its own incompetence? Or was his country lost when the man who swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution imprisoned his political foes?

Would the answers matter so much to Garrett if Rachael loved him again?

One Reviewer Notes
“I stayed up all night reading this book. I have to be honest, I didn’t expect much because in my experience, Civil War romance novels are usually of the bodice ripper variety and painful to read. This book, however, was NOT.
I was thoroughly entertained by the exchanges between many of the main characters. The characters were real, sympathetic and fully fleshed out. No one in this book was idealized or too perfect to be a real person, and that’s hugely important. The history was woven through the story masterfully, and was as much part of every scene as the characters were, ad accounts of the battles were gripping and extremely visual.
All in all, I fell in love with Garrett, wanted to be Rachael, and rooted for them throughout, so this book is definitely on the WIN pile.” – Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

From the Author

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of American Civil War novels. I haven’t read them all, but I have yet to read a novel that approaches the subject as I do in High Ground.
While writing the story, I made a conscience effort to view the period through the eyes of someone living at that time, characters who don’t have the advantage of hindsight. I point that out because it’s only in hindsight that we recognize the success of Lincoln’s presidency and his handling of the crisis that threatened the nation. At the same time, we have simplified the conflict to a single issue, slavery. I don’t deny that slavery was a critical factor, but I believe the issues dividing the nation were more complicated, and yet, all those issues are first and foremost about power-political and economic power, which was divided between competing regional interests-North and South.
A driving force behind that power struggle was the competing interpretations of the Constitution: Was the union of the states perpetual, or was it a compact that could be dissolved? In other words, what are states’ rights? A hundred and fifty years later, that question is still unanswered-with one exception. The war decided that state’s are not free to leave the Union at will. Otherwise, the struggle to maintain the balance of power between the federal and state governments continues.*
In High Ground, I attempt to provide a broader framework within which to view the War Between the States. From there, I tell the story of a man who dedicated his life to serving, protecting and defending his country, but sees the freedom and democracy guaranteed in the Constitution, everything he is fighting for, being sacrificed in Lincoln’s efforts to save the Union.
If I have learned anything in the process of writing my novel, it is that in one way or another history repeats itself. During times of war, we still have to ask ourselves what freedoms will we sacrifice, or can we sacrifice, and still be America?

*Neither the Emancipation Proclamation nor the war ended slavery in America. The war did make it possible to adopt the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Bill of Rights, which ended slavery and provided citizenship to the former slaves.
