Kindle Nation Daily Romance Readers Alert! Our Readers Love Author Kathryn Shay’s Novellas! STILL THE ONE of The Educators Series is Now Just 99 cents on Kindle! And Find Links to Other Novellas in The Educators Series

4.7 stars – 3 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled

Here’s the set-up:

Welcome to The Educators, Kathryn Shay’s bold new series of never before published novellas. Veteran teacher Shay returns to one of her favorite settings and vividly portrays the teachers, administrators and students of Crystal Corners High School. As is her trademark, sizzling romances are back-dropped by controversial, complicated and sometimes dangerous situations.

Still The One is a 21,000 word novella

“Kathryn Shay never shies away from tough or controversial subject matter. I thought all the issues in this book were handled with care, and ably so. She made both characters immensely appealing, so I was really rooting for them to make it work. It was as difficult for the reader to find a way out of their predicament as it was for Annie and Dylan. But Shay comes up with the perfect (and only, IMO) solution available to them.” Lori Sherden, Goodreads

In STILL THE ONE, Annie Jacobs has made something of herself after a rough adolescence. She’s the mother of twin boys, a respected and well-liked English teacher and has good friends. But when her former high school teacher, Dylan Kane, comes back to town, Annie’s carefully created world starts to crumble. She and Dylan have a past, one which almost destroyed her. Now, he wants to be the next principal of her school. Annie’s afraid their previous relationship will endanger the job she loves. She’s even more fearful that her feelings for Dylan will rekindle, or worse, never died.

Praise for Shay’s High School Stories

“Kathryn Shay has carefully and precisely brought the reality of high school life into focus.” An Amazon Reader

“Shay uses her own extensive background as a high-school teacher to create believable teenagers.” The Romance Reader

Kindle Nation Daily True Crime Readers Alert! Dr. Katherine Ramsland’s Real Life Thriller PSYCHOPATH (CRIMESCAPE) – Now Just $2.99 on Kindle!

Psychopath (Crimescape)

by Dr. Katherine Ramsland

5 stars – 10 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled

Here’s the set-up:

“Dr. Ramsland has the ability to comprehend complex issues, analyze them meticulously, and express her opinions and conclusions in a completely objective manner.”
Cyril Wecht, Forensic pathologist and Past President, American Academy of Forensic Sciences

(A 69-page True Crime Short with photographs) H. H. Holmes was a central character in Erik Larson’s hugely successful The Devil in the White City, which is planned as a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Holmes is commonly viewed as a real-life Hannibal Lecter, a devious and cunning serial killer without equal. Holmes used the persona of a successful doctor and entrepreneur to draw untold numbers of young women to his three-story Chicago hotel to experiment on before killing them. Not one to waste, he’d often deflesh the corpses to sell the skeletons to medical schools. He enjoyed trying out methods of murder and watching his victims die. Scientists from his era believed Holmes’ brain would unlock the secret of his perversity, but he denied them the chance to find out. Today, we can figure him out without access to his brain. We know more today about the neuroscience of sadistic psychopaths and we can better understand what his brain – if dissected – would reveal. For the first time, we can look to research findings about killers to decode Holmes’s vile behavior.

From Psychopath:

“After the girls died, he’d enjoy viewing ‘their blackened and distorted faces’ before he dug a shallow grave, removed their clothing, and dumped them into it with ‘fiendish delight.’ Holmes considered that ‘for eight years before their deaths I had been almost as much a father to them as though they had been my own children.’

“It is precisely this behavior that most puzzles the ordinary person and draws the researcher’s attention: how can a man torture and asphyxiate children, or burn them and view it as entertainment? How can he ‘befriend’ them for years, knowing the whole time that he will end their lives? How can he describe it as pleasurable? This is the reason the psychopath holds our fascination. It’s why researchers even during Holmes’s era tried extracting criminal brains post-mortem for study. They hoped to locate the seat of disturbed moral consciousness.”

Reader Comments

“What a great but creepy tale of a true American Psycho!! The research was excellent and revealed a terrible account in history that should never be forgotten. Moreover, the neuroscience behind such extreme behavior provides some answers to the looming WHY questions! The book is just incredible. A real MUST READ!!!!”

Rachael Bell, Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

“I am never disappointed after reading a Ramsland book, and this one was no different. As Dr. Ramsland can do so well, she has trimmed this story down to its essence and delivered a story that is literally hard to believe its not fiction. I definitely recommend, you won’t be disappointed. “

“Immersion spoke specifically to me  and gave me encouragement to move forward with a new project that we are launching called TRIFECTA.  I plan to distribute Immersion to as many people as possible.”  —Terry Davis CEO of Tri California

Alcatraz, an icon of hopelessness and isolation.

A prison where a rich and satisfying life is locked out by 50’ tall barbwire-topped walls, an intricate fail-safe security system, and surrounded by the freezing cold waters of the San Francisco Bay.

The Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of our brokenness.

Everyone is faced with a choice; are you going to serve a life sentence? Or, are you going receive God’s promise of freedom by following Jesus Christ? (Galatians 3:22 )

It’s not easy, but you can…

Swim to win!

All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but you do it for an eternal prize. So, swim with purpose through the water (Heart) with every breath (Soul), navigation (Mind), kick (Strength), and stroke (Loving Others). Discipline your body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.

Keep Pressing toward the Goal to claim the prize which Christ Jesus has already won for you. (Philippians 3:12)

The prize of a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:10)

Immersion: Live out the life God has envisioned for you.

From the Author

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read Immersion. It is my prayer that this book will be a blessing and an encouragement to you in your journey as a fellow follower of Christ. I also pray that it will assist you in experiencing the rich and satisfying life Jesus came to give His followers, and that, in the process of reading this book, you will make The Great Commandment the primary grid through which you make all your life decisions.

I have done my best to directly connect the ideas in this book to scriptural passages. Footnotes and textual citations are included on the same page for easy reference and further contextual study.

The book has been organized into seven parts. Part one sets the stage for the five central sections. A seventh and final section is intended as a “putting it all together” framing piece. I have also written a group study which is located at the end of each section, with the hope that you will go through this book in community. You can do the studies alone, but everything is better in community.

In the back of the book there is a 40-day life coaching experience, designed to help you experience a richer and more satisfying life. There are also free resources for your church and small group Bible studies available at:

immersion4groups.com

The greatest blessing to me would be that the body of Christ would be encouraged, equipped, and edified as people join together in their homes for elevated conversations. These group studies are intended to facilitate just such conversations.

In His Grip,
Mark

Reader Comments

A riveting, nail biting dark tale of political drama and action. In one word: amazing. I could not put this book down. A must read!

– Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

This book was intriguing and engaging, since it kept me moving at a brisk pace. The plot and character development were well balanced. The action and heart were balanced also, which is important in this type of book (since many have either one or the other.) If you’re a fan of fascism or over-reaching government, this may not meet your ideals, though I’d still recommend it as an interesting novel. I especially enjoyed the comparisons to today’s world, such as the down-grading of American debt, and public’s frustration with our current system.

About The Author

Joseph Storm resides in the great state of Florida, and frequently travels the American countryside from its cities to its back roads. Part of his inspiration to write comes from his love of country, absorbing its beauty and its flaws, learning from its strengths and its weaknesses.

His other inspiration is history, finding such rich lessons of life upon its every rise and fall. He finds such wisdom in tracing the roadmap of the future, by looking into mere moments of the past.

It’s the combination of those two passions which fuel his novels. What if the impossible happens? What if everything we always took for granted, crumbled apart without a shot fired? Would we fight for our lives when it is much easier to die? Questions like that allow us to experience such drama, safe from the comforts of a text-filled page, and not from the horrors of living them. It allows us to learn from those stories in a book, rather than join the many who have faced them in real life.

Here’s the set-up:

Morin’s debut novel has a notably effective structure [and] the ending is exceptional…An imposing first novel with a protagonist whose disorientation is so thoroughly illustrated that readers’ senses will smolder before it’s over.
~ Kirkus Reviews

Gerry Burns, a former U.S. Marine and Iraq war veteran, walks into a police station one morning and confesses to the murders of several local residents, but the only thing is, Gerry can’t remember killing any of them. Diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD ), Gerry has not only has lost the ability to control his actions, but also his ability to remember.  Flashbacks from the war haunt Gerry’s daily life with increasing and alarming regularity. The trauma of losing friends in battle, the fear of rocket attacks during the night, and the anxiety of bombs exploding on the side of the road all contribute to the psychological strain consuming him. With a flip of the switch Gerry can turn any one of these emotions on and just as quickly turn it off. The only problem is he can’t control when or where it happens.

Gerry and his wife, Ashley, leave military life and relocate to a sleepy New England town so Gerry can attend college. Soon thereafter, Gerry runs into two local hooligans and leaves them bloodied and broken. Problem is, Gerry doesn’t remember a thing. Ashley is convinced PTSD is responsible for Gerry’s actions, but Gerry disagrees. When one of Gerry’s study partners goes missing, then his former boss, Gerry begins to worry. At first glance it appears nothing more than a coincidence, but as more people with ties to Gerry disappear, he starts to think otherwise, especially when the two locals he beat up turn up dead.

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert! Karen Lenfestey’s Family Drama A SISTER’S PROMISE – Now Just $2.99 and Currently Free for Amazon Prime Members via Kindle Lending Library

A Sister’s Promise

by Karen Lenfestey

3.6 stars – 32 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Kate Hopper can list a million reasons why she doesn’t have kids. No, more like reasons why she shouldn’t have kids: genetics, a dysfunctional family, and ultimately, the fear that she wasn’t cut out to be June Cleaver or Carol Brady or Claire Huxtable. TV moms always made it look so easy, but Kate knows better.

When Kate’s little sister, Joely, refuses a medical treatment because it will leave her infertile, Kate is willing to say anything to save her sister’s life—even promising to have a baby. Kate decides to keep her rash words a secret from her husband until she can figure out whether she really wants to be a mother. Especially since they agreed their marriage would remain childless.

A sister’s promise and a wife’s promise: Kate must break one. Should she risk everything she has for the unknown?

As a full time mother who recently gave up a 14 year career to stay home with my baby, this book really spoke to me! I rarely have time to read an internet post let alone read an entire novel; yet, I could not put this book down. I pulled my first non-baby related all-nighter just to finish it! The characters in this story expertly drew me in to topics I myself struggled with as many women today do. The story speaks to you no matter where you stand on career, motherhood, family, and friendship. The characters are very believable and relatable. This is an excellent read and very relevant to today’s woman. If you enjoy Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, or Sinead Moriarty, you will love this book!
