I don’t usually care for Westerns but since I got this box set as a freebie, thought I would give it a try. I am so glad that I did! This author really brought this story to life. Her characters are well thought out as are her storylines. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series!

Loved all 3 books. Love conquers all. Highly recommended reading. Like how easy each book flowed and you root for the characters.

The stories were incredible. Well written with dialogue to match the characters and the way the friends mesh together was remarkable. Loved all the characters even Marvin and Shadow.

Evan gets Josie for a Mail Order Bride. He is the sheriff, and she cleans. Dr Wu gets Dr. Avery for his wife. He is a veterinarian while she is a medical doctor. Billy brings Callie to Echo, but she falls for Ross and he falls for Nina a white woman raised by Indians.

Interesting character study. The dialog and action can seem slow at times but this is how the author reveals the hearts of her characters. I did not find these books to be lighthearted and easy, as expressed in some of the reviews. This a good read if you can accept that it is very depressing at times. It appears the author's belief is the goodness in people can influence and eventually overcome the perceived and sometimes very real evil in others.
I am impressed with the depth of these characters. Their stories are so much more emotionally involved than appears on the surface. The struggles with faith, overcoming fears, prejudice, the unintended consequences of choices made and the light and darkness in of us are evident in all the characters. There is a realization that looking back through human history these struggles haven't changed.
All things considered, I do believe it is well worth the time spent if you press on to the end. The 3rd book sums up questions about most of the characters fates up to that point in time.
So 5 stars for the characters and 5 stars for Linda Bridey for her attempt and success in writing stories that can move so many different readers on many different levels.

Echo Canyon Brides is a series of historical Western adventures that happen to involve brides. It's more adventure than romance, but a good read nonetheless. Some parts feel a bit ahistorical.

Montana Rescue -- Evan, the sheriff, needed women, esp. wives, to save the town of Echo Canyon, as the gold veins ran out. Josie needed to leave Pullman, Washington, to find a suitable husband. Josie's train derailed on the way and was saved by an Irishman named Lucky. Josie also met the bunch of unusual characters in town, like Evan's aunt Edna, or the potentially evil rich guy with a sinister reputation... But is there a chance at love, when an earthquake struck the area?

Nice complex characters, including some interesting mysteries that will be revealed later in the book, and this series goes on for 11 books. Billy is a native American raised by white folks. He doesn't know his history and it plays into the plot quite a bit. This is at least 4/5

Montana Bargain -- Dr. Winslow Wu, yes, he's Chinese, is a trained veterinarian not that any white guy would hire him to treat their animals except his close friends in Echo Canyon. As the town needed a doctor, It was Winslow who put in an ad for mail-order bride, and got Dr. Erin Avery, a female doctor trained, but can't practice in the East. Having her own practice out west where there isn't a doctor around is perfect for her, but what is with the rich guy in town who seems to be both friendly and sinister at the same time?

Dr. Wu seems to be both skilled... AND a caricature. I only sorta-accept the story how he got trained as a vet (his godfather is the head of the vet school after his family saved his godfather in China) Wu went into business with the folks making $$$ with Lucky's animal husbandry biz, but Wu also seems to know kungfu AND dim-mak (strike at nerve points to help or disable) But it's good. 4/5

Montana Adventure --- Billy and Lucky went to find Lucky's long-lost Cheyenne family, and Lucky was devastated to find he can only reclaim his son, but not his wife, who had remarried and will be relocated soon. When they left, they found two other Cheyenne willing to leave with them... a Cheyenne brave and Nina, a white girl brought up by Cheyenne. When Billy and Nina and the rest were captured by a local family as trespassers and forced to marry, Billy was torn as he had summoned a mail-order bride who should already in town... In the meanwhile, the rich enigmatic man's secret is about to be revealed by the sheriff...

Fun read, this *could* have bee a 5/5, but in the end I chose 4/5.

I'm not sure I want to read every volume, but they are sure fun adventure stories to read. Don't know about authenticity, but it beats depression sermons about faith and perseverance for love and honor and blah blah blah.

Overall 4/5

This is the best mail order bride series I have read. There are so many facets to this series and it’s a page-turner. The characters become alive and they draw you in to where you feel like they’re your friends and you care what happens to them and to Echo Canyon. Thanks to this series I now have a new favourite author. I cant imagine anyone not loving this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Upbeat, optimistic, modern style western stories

Cute, although objectively fairly unreal, stories with good guys, and guys, sheep herding cowboys and Indians (called that, and not "native Americans, given the historical era), and light humour mixed with slightly dark moments.

I am really enjoying this series. The characters are so believable and I feel almost like they are real people, not just characters in a story. The characters are well drawn with all their quirks and foibles and their strengths and weaknesses shown. I like how the bad guys get what is coming to them and how the Earnest brothers slowly grow and change. I recommend these books to anyone who likes historical and or mail order bride stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get hooked on this series, just bought the next three!

I actually got these three books as a free download from some site, I like the historical cowboy stories with mail order brides, however these books were a bit different, interesting story lines with a bit of a twist to each one which some of the others don't. More than just romance and each person looking for a wife was a different type of character, not just a straightforward cowboy. Read in double quick time and have just purchased the next 3 books in the series as I found them so good. Not expensive to buy either.
