About the author

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she reads any book she can get her hands on and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

Carrie and Matt are both healing from past tragedies. Neither are ready for a relationship. Of course, that always makes the best type of basis for a romance. Written from Carrie’s point of view we experience her journey to wanting more through her eyes, always aware of the loss, the confusion, the loneliness and the yearning.
Once more the magic of this author showcases itself in the hero. There was never a question as to how and when Matt’s emotions were involved although no words or thoughts are ever shared. It’s all in the way he behaves, his body language, the look in his eyes. I loved everything that told me he felt more! And surprisingly, he was incredibly possessive, jealous and alpha when the thought of Carrie with someone else came up. Not all heroes by N.Adams have these tendencies and I love it when they do.
I found myself actually tearing up in a few parts and laughing out loud in others. This was the perfect read for me today and would be awesome to revisit during the holidays.
Both Matt and Carrie have suffered losing the loves of their life. One in a plane crash and the other in a deadly motor vehicle accident. They meet at a weekly group meeting for people who have also lost a loved one. There is an immediate attraction between the two and they start a secret, sexual relationship.
Matt is a very successful artist who hasn't painted in the two years following the accident. As he and Carrie spend time together, he's finally motivated to paint again. I loved his character. He is so sweet and caring. He has the image of being bad boy from his past, but he's actually more timid and unsure of himself since the accident. He's seems like the kind of guy who gives great hugs and who you could spend hours snuggling with on the couch on in the bed. He's a great guy.
Carrie was an art student in college when her boyfriend was killed. She dropped out of school and started working full time in a coffee shop. I have to be honest, I did not care much for Carrie's character. She's rude, snide and got defensive over every little thing. It was annoying and truly bothered me that she wanted to keep her relationship with Matt secret as if she were ashamed of him. Yeah, at first, that's how they both agreed it would be - no strings, no relationship, just sex. But it was obvious as time passed that it was more, and I felt Matt deserved someone more caring and loving like he was. Just my take on Carrie.
Overall, it was a really sweet story and quick HEA read.
I enjoyed that, even though they both started out in grief, the story wasn't particularly angsty. Instead, there was a lot of depth to the characters. Despite the short length, I felt like I got to know them well enough to believe in their relationship and their love. I found myself rooting for them, and at the same time I didn't think the story was rushed like a lot of novellas are.
I just found out that Noelle Adams also writes as Claire Kent, and I think I'm doing a little bit of bingeing on her work; it's really well written and I enjoy her style.
A typical holiday romance.
They are both in a very bad way when they discover each other. their affair starts out as just a release of tension with no chance of ever going anywhere. This is their story. It just slowly shows how they regain their lives through their discovery of each other. It is a very sexual story, touching in their grief and eventual happiness. It is a very good read and I definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/9/17

A lovely tale to warm your heart!

In 'Holliday Heat' Ms Adams looks at the grieving process that people go through when they lose someone close to them.
Carrie is attending a group therapy session after losing her lifelong friend and lover, Henry. This particular session has two new attendees, one of whom she recognizes as Matt Lynch, a famous artist. Matt was in a bad accident two years previously in which he was badly injured and scarred while his girlfriend had died. Since then he has become a recluse.
Matt and Carrie connect at that meeting although he doesn't attend again and Carrie puts him out of her mind until, one night, he comes into the coffee shop where she is working just before closing time.
From this point on they become involved in what Carrie humorously describes as a 'sleazy affair' and together they help to heal each other.
The story is written from Carrie's point of view but Ms Adams manages to convey Matt's feelings very subtly.
This is a very enjoyable story and I thoroughly recommend it.
