About the Author

Sherri picked up her first romance novel when she was twelve and immediately she was hooked. She would stay up reading long after everyone else in her house had gone to bed, needing to see the hero and heroine get their happily ever after. But Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternative ending to give the characters the happy ending they deserved.

Since then, writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create.

They say don’t judge a book by its cover. I would have to say for me in this case it would be don’t judge a book by its name. I assumed from the title Slave I would be reading the standard BDSM Master/Slave story. Boy oh boy was I wrong.

The Finding Anna series by Sherri Hayes has to be one of the most tender, passionate love stories I have read in quite a while. Character so deep and rich with emotions they bleed onto the pages and into your heart. A storyline so unique and defined to perfection it was impossible for me to put these books down. Each book in this series is well scripted and focuses in on one exact point with undertones of the broader storyline.

We start book one Finding Anna with one strong well defined character and one character so broken you wonder if it is possible to mend not only the mind but the heart and body. The meeting, the horror, the truths and lies. The hope, the despair and the intense desire will keep your eyes locked on the pages while the world around you ceases to exist.

Book Two Need picks up right where book one ended and the journey of acceptance in its many forms is learned, applied, disregarded and accepted. Realization and discovery of wants, needs and desire plays a major factor in this story and the internal conflict is written beautifully.

Book Three Truth brings a sense of happiness, confusion, longing and despair. Forces from outside of the cast of characters we have met in books one and two makes this a compelling, fierce story while it still graces us with the core of the series. Love, acceptance, forgiveness, betrayal, hopes and dreams.

Book Four Trust takes us full circle. It provides us with a story of hope and survival. It shows strength, will and how much each character is willing to give of themselves.

The entire Finding Anna series is a beautiful story of losing and finding yourself. The tenderness is which the story is written is perfect. Each and every character good or bad is written with wonderful detail. Upon the pages of this series we are treated to the breakdown and beautiful rebuilding of life and love. We are shown patience, dedication, honor, faith and truths. Each and every twist and turn in this story was fantastic and only added to the already wonderful storyline.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a love story. One that is filled with hope, healing and compassion. A story that will break you down and build you up and make you yearn for the happy ever after.

Well that was an abrupt ending o.O

'Slave' is definitely not what I expected but it was good enough. I was more engaged and interested at the beginning of the novel, by the end I felt like we didn't really accomplish much with the length of the novel. It became repetitive and I still can't get a good read on either of the main characters.

My copy is an Amazon purchase, and it comes with an audible.com narration sample. It was good and it gave voice to the character of Stephan. I still preferred to read on my own. It however, wasn't able to hold up the rest of his personality throughout the novel. I don't hate him, as I don't really know him. I could not tell you his true preferences or reactions. The man is stoic without even trying. Brianna isn't much different, she is so "trained" in her ways, that it might take 12 editions to see a crack in her shell.

We hit the ground running in this one. Unfortunately, it began to drag by the middle. We were experiencing every single day and detail since Stephan was aware of and bought Brianna. We even recapped situations we just read. I understand it was to provide clarity, but I just wanted to see some life in both of them. The oxymoron of it all, is that it also gave a more realistic time line, which I loved. There was no over night make over in either of their lives.

Brianna is a tough cookie and doesn't make it easy on Stephan or the readers. You have to work to gain her trust and believe me, it isn't easy! When you do crack that shell though, it's beautiful! She is not only a beautiful character, but what is left of her personality is memorable. She had a rough past but I love the development, to get where she is now, as well as, how she recollects and tell her past.

I don't normally care either way if a book is concentrated with sex or not, but I do know that I crave it for Brianna and Stephan! I think these two are going to have awesome, explosive sex and I really hope it's in the next book!

We might not get as intimate of a profile in regards to Stephan, but we got the basics. Something that bothered me throughout was his job and finances link. Owner or not, do people in his field of work roll around in dough of that caliber? o.O

Moving on, I never got to see him in his full DOM role and the glimpses weren't all that hot. What he does though, is ooze sex without being over the top cheesy. It's natural, gracefully and tastefully executed. I am without the sex to go on, but I would totally sign up to be this man Sub and I ain't even into that life!

That brings me to the the few moments where I hated both characters. Him for partaking in this lifestyle and she for putting up with it. The feminist in me got angered every time she called him "Master". In the bedroom ... maybe. Outside of it ... NO! I couldn't fully get behind the bandwagon of acceptable standard slave activities. I am well aware that it's BDSM and if you aren't cut out for this lifestyle or too strong willed like myself, you will be offended. Therefore, I had my moments.

I liked Lilly and Logan and once again found myself wondering what it would be like to "play" with them :)

This book needs room to breathe and grow on you. It has it's good and bad like every novel out there, but it is a good enough reading companion, if you can get over the demeaning recollections. There is definitely potential and I can't wait to see where this series will go.

I have to say that when I started this book I wasn't sure of what it would be like. As the book develops you find out that her step father sold her for money at 17 and the person who bought her was a horrible person. I an so glad that Stephen bought Brianna and started the slow process of bringing her back to normal. (If she could ever be normal after what happened to her) I have no problems with the BDSM lifestyle as the books I've read don't burn and scar their subs. Ian was a sick person.

I loved how slowly Stephen and Brianna developed their relationship with trust and understanding. It was very hard for Brianna to talk to Stephen because she wasn't sure if or when he would snap and hurt her. She had been broken by the damage Ian did to her.

I will be thinking about this book as it was well written and the story was very gripping. God knows that this kind of thing happens more than we know. This book get you thinking about people like Ian and why they think they can do whatever they want to women because they have money.

I loved this book and had to finish reading it to find out what was going to happen. As usual the author has split this into 4 different books so you will have to buy the other three to find out what is going to happen. As much as I liked this book if I had know that I had to buy 3 more books to finish the story.

If you like spending money on more books to finish one story then I would recommend buying the the 4 pack (didn't know there was a 4 pack) which probably cost the same thing but you get the whole story at one time.

This book is not what I expected. It relates the (first part of a) story of the relationship between a young girl that has been severely abused and the man that bought her freedom. as told by both characters.

Even though it is somehow a bit disturbing at times it is well written and actually cost me some sleep. Since the first part is free... try it.

(Spoiler: there are 4 more books in this series waiting to be read)

4.0 out of 5 stars Schwieriger Lesestoff um traumatisiertes Entführungsopfer

Slave (Finding Anna)
2.
Need (Finding Anna)
3.
Truth (Finding Anna Series)
