In today’s high tech loud world, our constant need to people please or seek external validation is exhausting and causing us as women to slowly lose ourselves along the way if we aren’t paying close attention. “No Longer Burnt Out On Busy” is filled with thoughts and insights on making sure your inner light keeps shining bright, and practical habits which incorporate more pleasure and peace to create a productive work flow.
What I loved about this book is discovering the different barriers that may block you from going inside and learning practical tools to help you change your mindset from “busy” to “empowered.” In her book, Andrea takes you through a journey where you will find that it is not the external world that matters, but it is the internal world that creates empowerment and connects you with your purpose.
This book is both a practical guide and inspirational support for the reader to connect with your inner guidance system and come back to an internal place of self-trust, self-love and authenticity. This book provides engaging mini-stories, insightful metaphors and practical daily 3-5 min exercises to increase your awareness, deepen self-trust, take decisive inspired action, be seen and shine your light.
You will have a variety of tools in your toolkit to gently guide you back to your authentic feminine power and feel eternally young, vibrant and free. As a super-achiever eighty-some year old immigrant woman with a very high ego, who has struggled all her life to be accepted and to fit in this culture that I adopted 60 years ago, I have gone beyond my physical capabilities in my quest to seek external validation, as far as obtaining all the higher education and self-improvement possible to prepare me to hold high positions in the aerospace engineering and management world, at a time when very few women were allowed or accepted in this capacity. Reading this book has helped me understand my need for seeking this validation, and how important it is to listen to our own inner voice. The book has also helped me see that there is a Positive Polly in me, as well as a Negative Nelly, and how I have managed to keep them both hidden, and has shown me practical approaches to deal with both traits to obtain the desired results. I find this book to be extremely helpful for any super-achiever, regardless of age or stage in life! I could have used this book in my many struggling days to make my life so much easier!!! But it is not too late for me to start applying its principles and practices in my current stage, since I am still that same person.
I definitely will be recommending “No Longer Burned Out on Busy” to all my super-achiever friends, and will be sending it to my daughter and granddaughter as soon as it is available in formats other than Kindle, to help them navigate successfully in this stage of their life. I know they will thank me for it!!!
Andrea, the author, did a fantastic job of not only providing suggestions about the struggle’s woman in today’s world deal with but adding herself as an example was the icing on the cake. I admire the fact that she was so transparent because not everyone is willing to put their business out there. The author, as a trained psychologist, doesn’t just tell you how to “fix the problem.” Instead, she takes a different approach by sharing personal stories. She had to cope with herself to get to her current feeling liberated stage. She lets you see that she too is human, that she isn’t perfect, and it’s an ongoing practice one must continue to do to feel free. I learned that letting yourself be vulnerable could be a good thing and that taking time to pamper yourself shouldn’t’ make you feel guilty.
I also enjoyed the fact that she makes you do a little work throughout the book. Unlike other similar books, Andrea gives the task to write down thoughts and responses to get your juice’s going. She truly makes one feel as if you are sitting across from her getting advice from one of your girlfriends. After getting through the book, right away, I incorporated, not looking at my phone first thing in the morning. I set my phone far from my bed and NO SOCIAL MEDIA, or emails until I work-out and take a shower. I will continue to integrate more of the methods she recommends because I want to be a Palm tree, not an Oak tree.

The book is well researched and clearly laid out in four sections. Section one focuses on Mastering Mindfulness and Mindset, section two on Finding Harmony Between Ambition and Flow, section three relates to Deepening Trust and Taking Inspired Action and finally, section four covers Belonging to a Community of Like-minded Influencers.
The chapters in each section delve deeper into the overall theme of that component of the book. The lay out and content is clear, engaging and relatable. The inclusion of personal and professional experiences from the author’s life help to conceptualise the topics and move them from abstract ideas to real-life-scenarios. In the past, I have found books in this genre a little over-whelming due to heavy use of jargon and the abstract nature of the ideas presented. However, in contrast, the accessibility of this book was a delight and the easy to use, step by step guides were useful, accessible and easily applicable to my own life. It is an extremely “usable” book and the exercises, as well as information on additional online resources, served me well in reflecting on my own life. Thought provoking questions prompted me to self-reflect, act and gently reconnect and re-engage with myself and my life choices and priorities. This book made me realise I have been very hard on myself and I cannot be all things to all people. I identified limiting patterns that no longer serve me, and the book gave me the tools to move beyond these.
The practical tools provided in the book are beneficial as part of a cumulative regime incorporating all tools in the book but also have strong stand-alone properties and are of use whether you are just “dipping in” to a topic or working through the totality of exercises in the book.
Drawing on personal experiences grounds the book in reality and the examples given are likely to be recognised by most women. I found it particularly striking to realise that while we all have different life experiences, there are many commonalities in the challenges faced by modern, busy women. Real life experiences serve to demonstrate the diversity of life experiences but also the shared realities that many women have.
I am very happy to have gone through an effective, practical, easy, deep, inspiring experience which helped me prioritize what really matters to me in this moment of my life!
