4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 483 ratings

I don't scare easily.
But she's haunting my dreams.
Haunting all my fantasies.
And I'll gladly let her.

Although I could have any woman I want,
I’m not a hit it and quit it kinda guy.
I want something more, something lasting and real.
I don’t make a habit of sleeping with the tourists,
But when Elise walks into O’Shea’s Pub, I forget my mantra.
Her fiery red hair, emerald green eyes, and curves for days,
All leave me breathless and a bit off kilter.
I’m an O’Shea. A businessman, an ex-Navy SEAL.
When I start a mission, I complete it; just like I was trained to do.
I will sweep the independent beauty off her feet,
I will convince her to stay with me forever.
And when her creep boss shows up on my island to try and stake his claim,
I will show him that no one messes with what is mine.

Elise is mine to claim.
And so is the precious gift she’s carrying.

Top reviews from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2020
I just finished all 4 books in the Navy SEAL and will be leaving the same review because they were consistent if nothing else and delivered the same feeling! I recommend! Please bear in mind I had not fired up my kindle for two years as mom to a toddler and I just read 4 books in 3 weeks because I used the hours I should be sleeping salivating over these. I listed why I gave it 5 stars and why I'd remove 1/2 a star if I could.

These deserve 5 stars because:
1. I was looking for hot steamy sex filled romance and boy did they exceed my expectations (eyebrows still raised in shock because I'm not used to this in my romance novels). I described them to a friend as 'porn for women' meaning, it was full of sex with feelings and connections and without the cheesy dialogue
2. The dual perspective was awesome! - alternating chapters from his or her perspective really added a layer of engagement to the story. The guy's perspective, even though written by a woman didn't come across as implausible or gender centric
3. The characters were all likeable. There may have been only one that was a bit off-putting for me at first, but even that character became softer when their background and perspective was provided in a later book
4. There is comedy to be had. What is not to love about light, fun and witty writing?

I would take off 1/2 star because:
1. I'm no prude, but I don't enjoy gratuitous use of the F word, particularly in my romance. I'd let slide when its used in anger and allow for the ex SEALS to use it in regular communication with each other, but sometimes even then it was a bit too much. Its one of the things that turn me off from action movies and pretty much most adult movies today and even in everyday common speech. There were quite a few times in the books it really wasn't necessary so I found it distracting.
2. The constant reminders that the brothers were all ex SEALS. Its impossible not to get it from the title and the self descriptions and the introductions. Maybe a reference here and there when a muscle or heroic is involved, but man, there were times it was just shoved in your face in regular conversation like you'd forget and needed a trigger (my made up examples): "I moved toward her table avoiding the other patrons in the way any ex-SEAL on a covert mission would"..."You liked the Sheppard's pie? that's because I'm an ex SEAL that mastered the art of cooking while under fire"...."He hadn't called, I wonder how long and ex SEAL waited after the first date". Sorry Miss Rose, I overall loved the books but those kind of moments made me roll my eyes a little
3. Well the brothers are all well endowed and each one more than the last. It got to a point you'd have to make the woman in the 5th book a giant. Getting split into two is only enjoyable in theory. It actually sounds painful.
4. Loved the explicit sex and detail but at least twice per novel there was a moment when a phrase, word or reference jolted me from my romantic reverie into a raw feeling of man version of porn. It would just stick out like a sore thumb in the reel. But that moment didn't last too long thankfully
5. Typos and grammatical errors. It took me out of my fantasy at intervals

5 reasons that I'd still only take off 1/2 star.

I'm an independent and vocal woman and I'm still up in the air about how I feel about my female romantic characters being so sexually aggressive or forward on meeting a strange guy. Think it, sure. Talk about it with the girlfriend, sure. Act on it? I'm not quite there yet. But in all fairness that was more the girlfriends' roles.

What shall I read next now that my appetite has been whetted?

I hate it when I read a book then get to the middle to realize that I read this book already. So that should tell you it wasn’t on my top shelf bookshelf.

When darkly handsome, blue-eyed Brendan O’Shea turned 18, he followed his big brother, Connor, into the Navy, and eventually into the elite SEALS. And now, after 20 years of service, he has once more followed Connor to St Martin where Connor has retreated to find his land legs and to clear his mind and heart of the dark shadows of his many experiences as a SEAL. There on the Caribbean island, like Connor before him, Brendan, has worked to find peace, first working with his brother at the Irish bar founded in remembrance of their grandfather’s Chicago bar, O’Shea’s, and then creating a family compound on the bones of a former resort which the brothers have bought to refurbish.

And now, Bren is also turning his energies to a new enterprise under the O’Shea portfolio. He has started a surfing school, and as with everything an O’Shea’s touches, it is flourishing. But, Bren seeks one more missing component to make his island happiness and life complete. He wants a companion—a wife, and someday a child—like Connor has. So, he has reached the point in his life where island hook ups with fun-seeking tourists are no longer appealing. He’s had enough of that life. Now, he wants a woman to love, and with whom he can share his life and dreams of family.

Elise VanNess, the beautiful fiery red-haired, green-eyed newly promoted junior ad exec, is excited when she and Karin, her photographer and best friend settle themselves into the company booked and paid for St Martin resort. Elise has more than earned this opportunity to advance in her career: she has produced exceptional work and she has successfully dodged the unwanted and unsought ardent advances of her boss, the slimy Gavin Peters, the Harvey Weinstein of her NYC ad agency. Finally, she has achieved notice and advancement on her own merits and has been given the opportunity to work under her own direction on the ad project to promote a spiced rum, giving life to the campaign concept of “Hot Island Nights.”

And, after successful days of shooting “Hot Island Nights,” Elise and Karin find their way to O’Shea’s where they discover that the theme of the shoot might, in fact, be the description of their time in the company of two of the brothers O’Shea as the two friends share their island experience with Brendan and his younger brother Mickey—also a former SEAL and now a part of the O’Shea brother’s island enterprises. But when Elise’s boss, the invasive and irritating Gavin wants to add his personal touch to Elise’s island time, threatening the shoot and her island experience, Brendan’s SEAL years are required to restore peace to Elise’s “Hot Island Nights.”

Annie Rose brings two individuals together who seek a person who will walk with them through life. Filled with tension and passion, Rose weaves a powerful and moving love story. This is a novel that not only entertains, but also provokes the reader's contemplation of the road blocks and threats which can impede an individual’s growth and the growth of relationships on the pathway to love.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an ARC review, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy again for my "read-again" titles.

I love this series by Annie J. Rose. Brendan's Baby is another O'Shea brother finding love. Brendan is the brother who isn't afraid of feelings. He wants to find his partner and spend his free time with her. He sees what his brother Conner has with Brandi and wants the same. When Brendan sees Elise across the bar he is captivated. Looking into her eyes he feels something he had never ever felt to this magnitude.

Elise is all business. She has spent her time working hard to advance at work. Now in the Caribbean to shoot and ad campaign rebranding a product, she knows this is her time to prove herself. Somehow after talking to Brendan work doesn't seem to be as important. She finds a comfort in Brendan that she has never known.

They fit together naturally. Brendan romances Elise in ways that touch her heart and soul. He needs to get her to want to stay with him on the island. This is not a casual vacation fling. All of the O'Shea brothers are in this story. So much alpha testosterone! They will need to harness this when Elise's life is threatened. Brendan's protective streak is strong as is that of all of the brothers'. Elise is now family.

Brendan and Elise lock eyes as she enters the family's Irish pub and instantaneously they feel sparks.
Elise is on a work trip with her best friend Karin when she meets Brendan. Feeling a bit tipsy and brave she approaches him in the funniest way. Her number is left as he's serving customers and he decided to text asking her out and then their journey begins. He becomes her protector, friend, lover and more. I enjoyed their journey and now I'm on the the next brothers book. These Seal Daddies are so sexy.

A great storyline. Loved this book, Brendan and Elise’s story and wow what a story, very romantic, but lots of drama when Elise’s sexual predator boss turns up on the Island during her photo shoot with Karen for an advert. Looking forward to the next story.

The book is packed with lots of action and love! I enjoyed that the story was told by both Brendan and Elise. It's fast paced and has Elise dealing with an issue that is still very much alive in the work force today unfortunately. Brendan is totally swoon worthy and I can't wait for my next O'Shea brother book!
