The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs: The Complete Science Fiction Fantasy Trilogy Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 395 ratings

At the gates between worlds. In a war outside of time. They fight for us.

This box set contains the complete trilogy, over 2000 pages of fiction!

They tell me heroes are the first to volunteer. But I was drafted.
An Alien, Heyer, did this to me. I asked him once why I had to do all the fighting while he watched from the shadows. He said he couldn't be replaced. But I could be.
My name is Jonathan Tibbs. I'm the one standing between Earth and the Enemy.
They tell me every hero's story follows a path. But if I'm going to save the world, I have to find a different one.

"Only trust a man with power when he's wise enough not to want it."

“Just finished it and can't keep the tears out of my eyes. Whether they're from joy or sadness, I'm not sure.”
Goodreads Reviewer - Wright Michael ★★★★★

“I put this book on my shelf with: The Codex Alera series by Jim butcher, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, and The Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor with a twist of Marvel comic book heroes thrown in. I would buy it for you if I could.”
Audible Reviewer - Anonymous ★★★★★

“Say Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer got together with Christopher Nolan's Inception and made a baby. Then, M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable got together with Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game and made a baby. Then those two babies grew up, eloped and had a love child, who they put up for adoption, and was raised by the surrogate parent's of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky and the Wachowski Brother's Matrix, but had a crazy Uncle they all called The Karate Kid... Then you might get something as awesome as The Never Hero.”
Amazon Reviewer - Scott Baker ★★★★★

“Game of Thrones failed, Star Trek didn't succeed, and the less said about Star Wars the better, but The Never Army sticks the landing.”
Amazon Reviewer - Anonymous ★★★★★

“These books have made it into my fortress of solitude. The books, movies, and games you find yourself going back to-- a few times a year-- to enjoy all over again.”
Amazon Reviewer -Mark Sawhill ★★★★★

“Exhilarating, complex, and moving. The thought and intelligence that went into this book was staggering at times. But all of it was just so well put together. My only qualm is it's over now. For me, This book is what reading and stories are all about.”
Amazon Reviewer - Jay Teasley ★★★★★

T. Ellery Hodges was born in Sacramento, Ca in 1981. He moved to Seattle at nineteen and received his Bachelors of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University Of Washington.

In late high school and early college he started taking an interest in writing.

During his twenties he worked in a laboratory performing drug trials, traveled most of Washington State fixing computers for Apple, sold gym memberships, and helped manage an international supply chain for a chemical distributor. Much like the rest of his generation, he found that he wasn't well suited to doing any type of work for long.

So, he brushed the metaphorical dust off the novel he'd been writing in his head for the last six years. Then, he looked up the definition of 'metaphorical' because he was pretty sure that people who called themselves writers knew that one. He found that there was at least one thing he could endure doing for forty hours a week for the rest of his life.

There might be a lesson in all that about ignoring what you want to do for what you think you should. Luckily, this is a biography not a lecture.

Currently, he lives with his wife and two sons and daughter in Seattle. He has two dogs, a Border Collie and a Doberman, Darwin and Dharma, respectively.

In the 2015 Reader's Favorite book award contest, T. Ellery Hodges' debut novel, The Never Hero, was awarded an honorable mention in the category of Science Fiction. In 2017, the sequel, The Never Paradox, was awarded a Bronze Metal for the category of YA Urban Fantasy.

Getting through this trilogy took time, but I spend it gladly. The thoughts of and interplay between the characters constantly kept me “on my toes”, throughout the books many very unsuspected twists and turns. I enjoyed this trilogy very much. And again when I thought we were done, another surprise with amazing questions asked and answered.

There are 3 books in the set; you need to read all 3 to arrive at a real conclusion. In fact, all mysteries are satisfactorily resolved in the last few chapters.

This is a unique story of one man (later one woman and even later, 400 men) fighting a completely different type of alien. The enemies were large, strong animals with a single purpose of killing everyone on earth so their race could move to the "Promised Land". The battles take place in a special temporary dimension called the Never, but the threat is that, at some point, the battle will come to Earth if not stopped in the Never.

The characters were interesting and felt like real people as they grew throughout the books. There are graphic descriptions of the many battles, to the point that I began to visualize the scenes as if they were in a movie. While the earth fighters weren't really supermen, they did have augmented strength during the battles, which was necessary to defeat the enemies.

I recommend this set for sci fi fans and for adventure fans.

Although it rambles a bit in places it’s a great story and very engaging to the end. The science fiction ideas presented are unique and interesting. Well worth reading.

This series sometimes got bogged down in, my opinion, too long of explanations or descriptions. Some may love the amount of detail. I occasionally found my self skimming those parts. However, the trilogy as a whole, the characters, plot, their jouney...VERY well done! I don't like it when reviews basically summarize the story and even give spoilers. So I will simply say, this is going in my top 3 all time favorite series. I read all 3 books in about one week, spending the last 2 days doing almost nothing but reading as I could not put it down until I got to the very end. I would say it had the most complete closure to everything I have ever read. I hate when books leave you with no closure. This trilogy has an ending that brings the most justice to the story I've read in a long time.

This was a very cleverly composed work. So relevant to the current state of humanity globally. The essence of contemporary society is captured perfectly and association easily made while reading this epic. The reading experience was worth it right to the very last sentence! Ingeniously conceived and vividly portrayed throughout. Consistently engaging, entertaining at times, heart-wrenching at other instances, uncompromised raw honesty displayed in all the characters in a storyline that never takes a dip towards boredom… frustrations, yes - many indeed, but only enough to keep you invested in the outcome! I would happily read more works by Hodges. Any day!

Incredible story that you won’t be able to stop until you reach the final words “The End”. T. Elllery weaves this insane journey of Jonathan Tibbs right before your eyes. The story, the details provided on each page, and the vast number of characters that you will love, or hate, are going to be how you want (need) to spend all your available free time.

Trust me, you won’t regret joining Mr. Hodges as he introduces you to Jonathan. Your only regret may be that you never have free time since it will all be spent with Jonathan.

One of the best and well written stories I’ve read in awhile. Even more than the story itself, which was quite good, the quality of the writing and the realistic portrayal of the characters and how they handled such fantastic circumstances was what really sets this series apart. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt myself so drawn into a novel and found myself binge reading for the days it took me to finish. Thank you Mr. Hodges and I look forward to your future works!

I really enjoyed this trilogy, but I also had a few problems with it. It seemed far too long and had lots of scenes that didn’t seem to lead anywhere nor advance the plot. Also, it appeared to be trying to tell too many stories at one time that might have been served by being separated. Lastly, I really don’t like it when a book series doesn’t have at least some sort of wrap up at the end of each book. This set just seemed to be divided up whenever the page count hit a certain level. Now, having been a bit harsh with all that, I really did enjoy the story, even though I had trouble accepting some of the premises and actions. Still, very entertaining and I’m glad I hung in until the end.

After reading the first book from prime, I then bought the series and spent the next week burning through it.
I enjoyed the action, pacing, premise and occasional bit of humor.
