Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: David Rory O’Neill’s The Prairie Companions is Our eBook of the Day at just $2.99, with 4.3 Stars on 3 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for David Rory O’Neill’s The Prairie Companions, just $2.99 on Kindle:

Pat and Clara have only a vague idea of the hardships awaiting them in the year 1905, as they began their journey to fulfill their dreams. They soon discover that the world is much wider and much harsher beyond the walls of the boarding school where they first met.

Yet, they are steadfast and determined. Pat is seventeen, clever; her ambition is limitless and her drive, insatiable. Clara is eighteen, gentle, sensitive, loyal and aristocratic. They will do anything to throw off the conventions that bind them and find a place to build a life together.

From the Author:

I am aware some readers are suspicious of trilogies so let me offer reassurance. Each stands alone as an entirely satisfying novel. There are no teasers or things left unresolved to cheat the reader. One can read any one in the triology and then leave it or go back or forward in time.

From the reviewers:

This heartfelt historical saga is sure to open anyone’s eyes to love’s awe-inspiring possibilities. These characters are human; they bring the past to life.  –  jac

This is a heroic and passionate adventure about two intrepid and pioneering women at the beginning of the 20th Century who, at a very early age know what they want out of life. And oh boy, do they go after it. It’s a powerful story, which O’Neill once again weaves through real historical events.  –  Josie

The life the author brings to his characters is magical and involving. This is a gem and smashed all my expectations.   –  ReaderDee

I am from Belfast but have made my home in in Cork, which makes me a bit of cultural orphan perhaps. I’ve been writing all my adult life. The freedom that came with full-time writing of my novels, happened in 2004. I’ve completed twelve so far and more are bubbling.

I’ve decided to put them out as an independent publisher and all will be re-issued by davidrory publishing.

I welcome contact with readers so please do drop in at my blog and tell me nice things – no one likes negative!
From my mind and Mac to your imagination.
Regards, David Rory O’Neill.

One Reviewer Notes:
Pat and Clara seem unlikely soul mates but the companions embark on an amazing adventure that takes them from the south of England to London to France to raise much needed money in fairly unconventional ways for the times. Finally, fuelled by their love for each other, they reach their goal - the flat harsh, land of the Canadian prairies where they make their home and build round them an unlikely but loyal group of friends and neighboughs. So much seems to be against them right from the start but they overcome all the prejudice against women trying to make their way in a tough and macho world... Prairie Companions would make a brilliant and epic film. It's a triumph as a novel - highly recommended.

Library ...I was born unplanned and unwanted like so many post war children. Duty and doing the right thing kept the parents who made us, miserabley together. I quickly found escape in literature, comics and the part work: Knowledge. Library's and the countryside became my church and my priests were Steinbeck, Conrad, Hemingway and Joyce. School was torture for the hyper intelligent boy and Dyslexia was: "You're thick and stupid boy." The troubles erupted and tribal sectarian violence ripped and tore. I stayed untill I could bear it no longer, then left to see the world and wander. I never went back to my dark home city but came south to Cork where I felt easy and only a little foreign. My soul mate found, I searched for release from the agonies of all the wrong jobs and found it in novels. Twelve so far and more bubbling in me waiting. All will be born into the liberation of the net. eBooks.
