Kate Hopper can list a million reasons why she doesn’t have kids. No, more like reasons why she shouldn’t have kids: genetics, a demanding career, and ultimately, the fear that she wasn’t cut out to be June Cleaver, Carol Brady or Claire Huxtable. TV moms always make it look so easy, but Kate knows better.

When Kate’s sister faces death, Kate is willing to say anything—even promising to have a baby. Kate decides to keep her rash words a secret from her husband until she can figure out whether she really wants to be a mother. Especially since they agreed their marriage would remain childless.

A sister’s promise and a wife’s promise: Kate must break one. Should she risk everything she has for the unknown?

Reviews

“Kate’s journey is always intriguing, sometimes humorous, and also heartwarming. The plot kept me guessing, and I loved the characters.”
Nicole Green, Author of Holding Her Breath

“The books I love have characters that hook me and a voice that strikes a chord with me.. . .All in all, A Sister’s Promise was a great combination–likeable characters and an interesting plot, along with strong writing. That’s all I ask for in a book.”
Judy Post, Author and Amazon Reviewer

Kate Hopper can list a million reasons why she doesn’t have kids. No, more like reasons why she shouldn’t have kids: genetics, a dysfunctional family, and ultimately, the fear that she wasn’t cut out to be June Cleaver or Carol Brady or Claire Huxtable. TV moms always made it look so easy, but Kate knows better.

When Kate’s little sister, Joely, refuses a medical treatment because it will leave her infertile, Kate is willing to say anything to save her sister’s life—even promising to have a baby. Kate decides to keep her rash words a secret from her husband until she can figure out whether she really wants to be a mother. Especially since they agreed their marriage would remain childless.

A sister’s promise and a wife’s promise: Kate must break one. Should she risk everything she has for the unknown?

As a full time mother who recently gave up a 14 year career to stay home with my baby, this book really spoke to me! I rarely have time to read an internet post let alone read an entire novel; yet, I could not put this book down. I pulled my first non-baby related all-nighter just to finish it! The characters in this story expertly drew me in to topics I myself struggled with as many women today do. The story speaks to you no matter where you stand on career, motherhood, family, and friendship. The characters are very believable and relatable. This is an excellent read and very relevant to today’s woman. If you enjoy Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, or Sinead Moriarty, you will love this book!
