Here’s the set-up:

There are two worlds – our world, and Billy’s: and when things get really bad in Billy’s world he escapes to the secret clearing in the woods, near Butler’s farm. Only here can Billy be his real self – watched over by the shadowy figure of his guardian angel – imagining himself as the new messiah, happily making sacrifices to his God and cutting up road-kill.

All is going well in Billy’s strange world until a pretty girl arrives and ruins everything.

The outcome is fatal!

From now on, life won’t be easy for young Billy, but then, if you’re the new messiah – no one said it would be.

Amazon Reviews

“It’s a long time since I’ve finished a book and wanted to shout out to the whole world to read it, but that’s exactly how Billy Christ made me feel. Michael Cameron manages to take you into the minds of his characters without the need to signpost who they are beforehand. His subtle use of character nuances and descriptions bring them to life in a way which often makes you feel like their thoughts are being spoken to you directly.”

“This book has a dark thread running through it but so many lighthearted moments that keep it flowing wonderfully. The childhood scenes and dialogues really evoke memories of the 70’s and 80’s. These details and the characters brought to life make it a very enjoyable read. Loved it.”

“I was recommended to read this book by a friend but from the moment I picked it up I found it completely compelling. On some levels it’s a story about growing up and the trials and tribulations that come with being a teenager, and on other levels it’s a very dark narrative that delves deep into the central character’s disturbed psyche. It’s the mix between these two aspects that makes it so intriguing. You find yourself being equally drawn in and repulsed by the events that unfold. Will certainly be recommending.”

Michael Cameron - author of the best selling In Harm's Way – explores the mind of a teenager who has lost his way in the madness, humor and despair of the sexually liberated 1970s. BILLY CHRIST is both a psychological thriller and a coming-of-age story set in a world of pop-music, TV commercials and the English countryside. BILLY CHRIST: an intriguing tale spun with humor and drama, and a Gothic lust for gore and horror.
