The pen is truly mightier than the deadliest sword.

Martin Smith and John Becker: bestselling authors with ordinary names and extraordinary minds.

Their words have power — to heal, to kill, to change the lives of their “characters” in shocking and unexpected ways. Famous for their uncanny similarity in both physical manner and literary voice, their childhood rivalry spins out of control into adulhood.

The death of one at the hands of the other brings to light their troubling past — and a mysterious presence, watching on from the shadows — an authorial entity with roots beyond our time or dimension; an entity with far-reaching designs.

5-Star Amazon Review

“Mike Robinson’s latest release, The Green-Eyed Monster, is a compelling and unique work. I found the genre label especially attractive: literary horror. It seems like an oxymoron. Just to explore that unique title relationship, I absolutely had to read this book. I’m happy to say this story delivers what it promised. If you feel intrigued by the concept, I highly recommend you pick up this book.”

About The Author

It was at the tender age of 7 that an interconnection of cells and organs called Mike Robinson (then Mikey) penned, or pencilled, his first story. Called “Aliens In My Backyard!”, it went on to become a runaway bestseller, topping international charts (or maybe that just happened in his imagination, too).

Although he has since worked as an independent videogame producer and cinematographer, writing has always been the focal point of his creative life, although to him the phrase “creative life” sounds a tad redundant. His first professional sale, a short story entitled “The Hand of Spudd”, appeared in Storyteller Magazine when he was 19. Since then, his work has appeared in a dozen magazines, anthologies and podcasts. In 2006, he was one of five guys comprising GLAWS, the Greater L.A. Writers Society, which has since become the second largest writers’ group in Southern California. He’s the editor of “Literary Landscapes”, the society’s publication. See more at: www.glaws.org

“Skunk Ape Semester”, his debut novel, was released early 2012 by Solstice Publishing and was a Finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. His follow-up, the supernatural mystery novel “The Green-Eyed Monster”, debuted October 2012 from Curiosity Quills Press. His existential horror novel “The Prince of Earth” is also available.

Here’s the set-up:

Zoology professor Jeremy Fishleder is an avid Bigfoot researcher, his passion sparked long ago by an encounter with Florida’s “skunk ape” during his childhood. He teaches a class on the study of these weird entities, called cryptozoology, until the university cancels it.

Looking to make a change in his life, he goes on sabbatical and plans a trip around the country to visit areas of strange repute and meet other people who study the various phenomena, using a van stocked with files and maps supplied to him by a fellow paranormal investigator.

Three students decide to join him, and together the four of them travel from place to place, and story to story, meeting characters both level headed and eccentric and discovering more about themselves and one another.

And as the stories come together, they are drawn face to face with the mysterious…

About The Author

An official armchair Fortean since receiving Karl Shuker’s The Unexplained at thirteen, though fascinated with the material since penning Aliens In My Backyard! at age seven, Mike has spent much of his literary career in the murky overlap between reality and….whatever else we may want to call that curious realm the presence of which we sense but seldom touch. Dreams? Dimension X? Whichever. Mike’s short fiction has been featured in Storyteller, Aoife’s Kiss, Northwoods Anthology, Wondrous Web Worlds, All Possible Worlds, ClonePod.org, Wash: The Journal of Otis College of Art & Design, and more. He is on the advisory board of The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society and is managing editor of Literary Landscapes, the society’s publication. One Reviewer Notes:
I really enjoyed this book. For one thing, while the author used a subject we all have at least heard of (bigfoot), everything about this story is unique. I found it so refreshing, and the book is anything but predictable. I loved the characters and found I got more invested in the story the more I got to know them. For me, the book wasn't a fast read, but I don't mean that as a bad thing. The story is an adventure, but it also makes you ponder and goes deep. I recommend this book if you're interested in these legends, but also if you're looking for something that is different and refreshing. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
