Tomerlin currently resides in Murrieta, where he works as a freelance graphic designer, when he isn't writing.

Tommerlin's premier novel barrages the reader from start to finish with everything a piece of historical fiction - of the pirate genre, of course - should: gunfights, sex, plundering, alcoholism, and a twisting plot that is delivered through a multitude of differing perspectives. Aside from the in depth characterization and swirling plot, Tommerlin, much in the fashion of writers such as McCarthy or Hurston, employs a vernacular sense of spoken dialogue which is beautifully contrasted by eloquent narration. Both an engaging and illuminating read, The Devil's Fire proves that Tommerlin is able to ride the lines of genre and deliver to the reader a truly captivating piece of fiction. I look forward to reading more of his work.
