They must stay or go…

But danger will soon follow.

Surrounded by intense dragon wars brewing in the skies the newly full-fledged members of Talon, the brothers, Grey Cloak and Dyphestive, are faced with a decision.  Seeking greener pastures will surely bring about pain and suffering, but Grey Cloak wants no part of his new role in the secret dragon war.  Pushing his reluctant brother to move on, the brazen youths are determined to keep their dark secret to themselves while seeking fortune of their own.

But as the mystery that surrounds the blood brothers begins to unravel, a darker fate intervenes.  The Doom Riders, led by Drysis the Dreadful, close in on them, leading to a devastating battle–with fatal consequences.  Now, the brothers’ lives will be changed forever.  Will their new path be more dangerous than anything they’ve ever traveled before?

If you enjoy epic fantasy, filled with the gamut of elves, dwarves, halflings and orcs,  along with mages, thieves and warriors to dragon riders, then you will devour the mysterious and brazen adventures of Grey Cloak and Dyphestive.

Author Note: This series was inspired by middle-schoolers that demanded more dragon fantasy. If you’ve read the Chronicles of Dragon series, you’re certain to enjoy this. If you aren’t familiar with Halloran’s works, but enjoyed Dragonlance, Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, or R.A. Salvatore’s Legend of Drizzt series, you’ll quickly discover these party-based adventure books are right up your alley.

The Story of Babushka

by Catherine Flores
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

A beautifully illustrated book, with a magnificent story that children and tweens will love.

Babushka wants to find out the meaning of life so she sends her bodies out of the forest and into the world to search for answers.

WHAT IS A BABUSHKA?

The babushka doll, also known as a matryoshka or Russian nesting doll, is a traditional Russian toy first made over 100 years ago. The doll has come to symbolise Russian folk culture, as well as the complex and beautiful layers of women. Babushka dolls are made of wood and painted in bright colours and patterns. Each babushka is comprised of many round dolls, each a little smaller than the last. They separate at the middle so that each doll can be placed inside the one before it. There are some babushka dolls with as many as fifty dolls nested inside. This is the story of one very special babushka doll and her five bodies.

There was the outermost body, Antonia. She was pure beauty. Everyone who saw her admired her good looks. Beneath that body of beauty hid Loretta, who was richly adorned. She wore gold ornaments, and her green robe was decorated with many different gems that glittered like the ocean on a sunny day Hidden within the rich body was Paula, the body that held all Babushka’s talents. Whatever Paula did, she was sure to succeed. She knew how to work and always did so with joy and determination. Within the talented body was Viola, the body of wisdom. Viola knew a lot about the world and learned very quickly. She was always full of brilliant ideas and had clever solutions for every problem. The last body, the smallest of all, was Mary, the embodiment of love. Mary had a warm and compassionate heart and was very helpful. She could dry tears and mend broken hearts.

Roommating (Preston’s Mill Book 1)

by Noelle Adams, Samantha Chase
4.1 stars – 230 reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Forget all those other roommate romances you might have read.

Heather and Chris don’t hate each other…very much. And they don’t have sex all the time…at least not at first. Chris doesn’t go around shirtless, flexing his muscles and driving Heather wild…too often. And he doesn’t get jealous and possessive every time she goes out with another man…well, maybe occasionally.

But they definitely don’t fall in love…right away.

When Heather comes back to her hometown, she plans to take over her father’s historic restoration business and move into a beautiful converted apartment in Preston’s Mill. Then she finds out she’ll have to partner up with the one man she can never forgive. Chris Dole, who abandoned her father and betrayed her trust three years ago.

It gets even worse. They don’t just have to work together. They have to become roommates for six months to prove they can get along. That means Heather will have to play nice with Chris and put up with his obnoxiousness, his drop-dead sexiness, and his ugly recliner named Flo.

She’ll do what she has to do out of loyalty to her father, but she isn’t going to like it.

At least not much.

Graveyard Shift (Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. Book 1)

by Angela Roquet
4.2 stars – 1,633 reviews
Text-to-Speech: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

It’s a hard-knock afterlife…

Lana Harvey is a reaper, and a lousy one at that. She resides in Limbo City, the modern capital of the collective afterlives, where she likes to stick it to the man (the legendary Grim Reaper himself) by harvesting the bare minimum of souls required of her. She’d much rather be hanging out with Gabriel, her favorite archangel, at Purgatory Lounge. But when a shocking promotion falls in Lana’s lap, she learns something that could unravel the very fabric of Eternity. If the job isn’t completed, there could be some real hell to pay.
