A small, struggling pharmaceutical firm is in need of a major new product to survive. Led by a CEO desperate to achieve the fame and fortune he had always expected but had not yet gained, he and his firm are running out of time. On the precipice of bankruptcy, a technological breakthrough is close to fruition. They are in position to finally succeed, if they can only mobilize the resources to conduct a clinical trial that proves the product works. Then a reclusive businessman shows up to make a deal with the CEO. With no other options, the CEO strikes a bargain with his new mentor.

After special friends of his mentor intervene to win necessary governmental approvals, the new product is released to the public. And it becomes a success like no other.
