“Madelyne is a great foil for Gavin: she’s serene and peaceful and calm to his vengeful, dark personality. Coming from an abbey, she also has a spiritual side, which is evident throughout the book. She helps Gavin to see that violence isn’t always the way to go, and I enjoyed the way he clearly began to care for her. This is a wonderful romance in a great historical setting and I loved it.
