A new series sure to please the pickiest fantasy readers.., August 12, 2011 By Readers Favorite “Book Reviews and Award Contest” (Hawesville, KY USA) – Reviewed by Anne B. for Readers Favorite
Michelle Erickson has created a new series sure to please the pickiest fantasy readers. In Chest of Souls Book 1, we meet nine year old Talon and the adventure begins . Talon and a young man named Nyk end up running for their lives. Talon meets Brenna, a beautiful six-year-old with power beyond the imagination. Talon and Brenna are the only hope to destroy Sogo. Together they would make a formidable team…if they could live long enough to develop their powers.
Michelle Erickson does exactly what all authors should do…begin the book with a dynamic, attention grabbing scene. However, she doesn’t stop there; she continues with one heart pounding scene after another. There are plenty monsters to fear and battle in Chest of Souls. Brenna was one of my favorite characters. Although only six years old, she already has self confidence and knows she belongs with Talon. This is the first book in a new series; I can hardly wait to see what our two heroes face in the next book.
A note from Michelle:
In the past, I’ve suffered from post apocalyptic stress syndrome while writing 5 Blanks, recovered an ancient artifact and destroyed the wickedest city in the world using a pair of star-crossed lovers in Chest of Souls, recovered Christmas by unearthing the forgotten love story of the Klauses, and, in Pic Jump, saved a little girl from a terrorist organization armed with nothing but a Barbie head and a woman in a coma. Oh, and helped a woman find true love and solve her own murder in Hallows Gate. Big sigh of relief that’s over!)
People ask how I do what I do. Simply put: I LOVE what I do. I thrive on the written word! By the time you read this, I’ll be working with awesome new characters to turn upside down (or inside out), spinning more plots to weave into their lives and planting subplots to harvest when they aren’t looking.
I’m currently at work on the third prequel to my Epic fantasy, Chest of Souls. Title: Said In Stone. As you read this, I’m also being haunted by Masters of Lightning, never-say-die ghosts, and Roses with attitude.
It has been a long and miraculous (sometimes mental), journey. I bid you “good reads” wherever you go and in case I don’t survive my latest adventure, a co-authored children’s series titled House of Cards, I left my will at the bottom of a volcano under a rock.
Are you still reading this? Good. Keep it up – and thanks for dropping by!
