The novel revolves around Badra, an Iranian woman lured into the fundamentalist world of Jihad, in the belief that martyrdom will finally give meaning to her depressing and unfulfilled life, Jack a damaged ex-Special Forces expat who takes Badra across the border, and Aleah, an Israeli Mossad agent whose job it is to find and kill her.
Unknown to her keepers and those who want to kill or capture her, Badra has an agenda of her own. During her indoctrination process in Iran, Badra slowly becomes convinced that she is actually the descendant of Lilith, the first wife of Adam, who forsook Adam and God, and wandered into the desert to become a vampire. Badra questions her sanity, and is torn between fulfilling her mission, and discovering the hidden truth among the lies, in a world whose only interest is in manipulating and using her.
Pursued by the FBI, Mossad, a Mexican cartel, and a lone survivor bent on revenge, her perilous journey takes her through Mexico and the American Southwest until she arrives at the city of Las Vegas, where her fate and the fate of America will be decided.
