Tsura was easy to get attached to and even though you might not agree with her actions at times, you find yourself becoming her cheerleader. Mihai is mysterious, awkward and in no way your typical knight in shining armor. This author made these characters come to life with realistic dialogue and inner struggles, interactions with strangers (never knowing who might be the enemy) and did an excellent job intermingling fiction with the historical events of Romania during WWII. ”

Each of the characters introduced, from Tsura to Mihai, to their neighbors and family—all have their own rich history that help bring this fantastically written novel to life.
