““Annie: a Tale of Passion (and Compassion)” is a fascinating novel which is refreshingly candid – at times unabashedly sordid and downright dirty – bitingly funny, sad, often poetic, unfailingly human, and always thought-provoking – without ever sliding into pretension. You should read it.” – Amazon Review

Here’s the set-up:
A trailer-park resident/schoolteacher named Frank struggles to feed the trailer park’s abandoned cats, despite constant threats of eviction from the park manager for doing so. To make matters worse, Frank spies a photo of Annie, a stunning nineteen-year-old beauty in a catalog of Ukrainian and Russian women. Despite the odds, he decides to write to her. As Frank attempts to survive the school year, he and his schizophrenic friend Eddie embark on a series of strip-club adventures until he becomes increasingly disillusioned and disgusted with his own life as well as the plight of being a man in modern America. Then unexpectedly, he meets a charming and seemingly-innocent dancer named Emma. Meanwhile, at the inner-city school where he teaches, a bubbly ninth-grader named Jazz and an aging hawk-like math teacher butt heads in competition for Frank’s affection, while back at the trailer park, the Elmer-Fudd of a manager vows to catch and evict whoever has been feeding the homeless cats. Can Frank resist the snare of the Lolita-like Jazz? Will he and Emma find lasting romance in a society that makes romantic love nearly impossible, or will Frank chase his dream of Annie all the way to the Ukraine? In today’s world, is it even possible to achieve a life of passion and compassion?
