The Duke’s refusal to give to poor widows on St. Thomas’ Day has repercussions he can’t imagine! Can he find love with Miss Moir who rectified his error in an unusual way?

Miss Augusta Moir is horrified when the Duke of Meyrick, their host, refuses to give any gifts to the poor on St. Thomas’ day. When the same impoverished widows come again, she takes matters into her own hands and gives away the Duke’s things without his knowledge… only for the Duke to begin searching for one prized possession.

Edward, the Duke of Meyrick, dislikes Christmas time. Hosting the Christmas gathering for the sake of his mother, he ignores those who come calling, even though his conscience pricks him. Noticing how Miss Moir is almost always watching him, Edward finds himself intrigued. Conversations, dancing and decorating the manor house soon have him feeling a little more joyous over the Christmas season, only for the loss of one precious item to darken his mood again.

What will happen to their closeness when the truth comes out? Can Edward ever forgive her for what she has done – and will he ever find what he has lost? Or will something more take its place?
