Here’s the set-up:
Ginger Cat in B & W is about living with a rescue cat, Rudy, for the duration. Dickinson came to know Rudy as a steadfast source and recipient of love. Covering a feline life in full, the memoir portrays a sentient being that happens to be a cat, whose language of meows and ye-owls is foreign to our ears. But does that matter? By coupling the keenly observed life of Rudy—including the feelings he evidences—with representative images of him from throughout his life, the reader gets to know this one cat, Rudy.
The book’s title points to thirty-nine black-and-white photographs that complement the text. More than “snapshots,” one of the photographs was exhibited at the World Open Culture Center in Manhattan.
