KND Kindle Free Book Alert, Saturday, May 14 – 500+ Kindle Freebies! Pre-Order a Brand New Free Sampler of Bestselling Authors from Tor!

On your way to this morning’s latest additions to our 500+ Kindle Free Book Alert listings, we invite you to make a quick stop to check out a challenging but rewarding and moving novel by today’s sponsor Michael Link. It’s definitely a novel for grown-ups only, and I read every word before making the decision to allow it as a sponsor, but I agree with the reviewer who called it “a perfect blend of shock and storytelling.” –S.W.

But first, a word from … Today’s Sponsor

Inviolate is a moving story about the emotional and psychological impact of sexual assault on its victims.” –Todd Rutherford, The Publishing Guru

Here’s the set-up:

Inviolate is about a young girl who is brutally raped but learns to accept that while her physical virginity was stolen from her, only she can choose when and to whom she will surrender her innocence spiritually. A novel about love and friendship, the story depicts the blind innocence of young girls unaware that potential danger from sex predators can occur at any time, and it relates the love that binds a family together and supports them after a tragic event disrupts their lives. It describes the terror and humiliation of sexual assault and the long-lasting trauma victims suffer afterward, as well as the collateral damage that is inflicted on their loved ones.

Inviolate compares the conflicting character of two men–one a violent sex predator who is able to hide his deviate psyche from even those closest to him; the other a gentle and kind man who loves baseball and mentoring youth sports, but who will one day be suspected of being a pedophile–and it illustrates the contradictions inherent in human nature when circumstantial events suggest that a person who is respected and trusted may be capable of committing an evil act.

Eighth grade student Connie Wojcik is walking home from a Halloween party when she is accosted by two men wearing Star Wars masks and forced into their car. High school senior Gene Gillian brutally rapes Connie before his partner belatedly intervenes and escorts her to safety. When Connie later identifies her attacker’s voice, Gene’s mother perjures herself to keep her son from going to prison and Connie is left to struggle with her psychological and emotional trauma while her family copes with the affect her assault has on their own lives. It is a therapist who was herself a victim of childhood sexual molestation who coaches Connie to accept that only her physical virginity was stolen and that her virtue will remain with her until the day she chooses to share her body with a man she loves, and helps the young girl recover her confidence and self esteem.

Years later, Connie and her husband have become close friends with Alan Thornton, the Human Resources Director at a northern Colorado hospital where Connie is a nurse. Alan was a senior in college when he befriended Tiffany Johnson, a twelve-year-old with a preternatural sexuality who at first shocked and then later enchanted him with her flirtatious nature and sometimes outrageous personal questions. Alan became the young girl’s mentor and tried to guide her from following in the promiscuous footsteps of her divorced mother. However, it was an innocent incident that occurred during the time Alan and Tiffany knew each other that will later lead to Alan’s broken engagement from the woman he loves, and continue to haunt him after that when he is suspected of molesting a young player on the girls’ softball team he coaches.

What the Reviewers Say
“Inviolate makes you cringe and makes you angry. Inviolate is a book that needed to be written and kudos to Michael Link for having the courage to write it.”
–Carolyn F. Piner

“This novel is an excellent treatment of all forms of sexual indecency, both in the adults who prey on innocent young children like Connie and the equally inappropriate and shocking sexuality of twelve-year old Tiffany. Through both Connie and Tiffany, we are reminded that children are often forced to grow up too fast and lose their innocence at too young of an age, whether it is stolen from them by a sexual predator or by their environment and upbringing.”
–thebeardenexperience

“As a mother of a twelve year old girl, I found this book to be a tremendous tool for helping me explain to her the realities behind sexual assault. Gene Gillian is the All American teenage boy who happens to also be a sexual predator. He can be lurking in any home in any city or town across the nation. This book helps to demonstrate the evolution of such predators as well as the emotional and physical recovery of “Connie”, the victim. This is a must read for anyone with school aged children.”
–Sandra Parker

But first, a word from … Today’s Sponsor

A woman is found dead in a two-bit Hollywood motel, and the 5-star murder mystery that unfolds is an LA Noir classic of stolen identity, political corruption, and tragic romance.

Jeff Sherratt’s Detour to Murder (The Jimmy O’Brien Film Noir Mystery Series)Just $3.99 on Kindle!

Here’s the set-up:

In 1945, the semi-nude body of a woman is found in a two-bit Hollywood motel, a telephone cord wrapped around her throat; face frozen in a grimace of horror. The stolen car of a murdered motorist is parked in the motel parking lot, the owner lying broken and dead on the side of an Arizona highway.

Al Roberts confesses and has spent the last 29 years in prison. Now, nearly three decades after meekly confessing, the aged Roberts swears his innocence. Jimmy O’Brien, defense attorney to the dregs of the criminal world, must find out why.

Why did Roberts give a false confession? And why has he waited 29 years to tell the truth?

O’Brien digs into the past, igniting a powder-keg that threatens to expose the long-held secrets behind Detour, the iconic Hollywood film documenting Roberts’ story. Secrets that could destroy the underground aristocracy that has held power in Los Angeles, city of broken dreams, for years.

Jimmy’s ordeal takes him from the bleakness of Roberts’ prison cell to the seedy streets of Hollywood, frantically searching to find out who took this DETOUR TO MURDER.

Game On!”

Here’s the set-up:

In a relationship built on lies…the only truth is their feelings for each other.

To fulfill his grandmother’s dying wish, linebacker Cole Taylor must find – and marry – a good girl. First grade teacher Anna Davis fits the bill perfectly. Their deal is simple: If she’ll be his temporary wife, he’ll give her more pleasure than she ever imagined was possible.

Only, love is the ultimate game-changer.

What the Reviewers Say
‘The latest installment in Bad Boys of Football does not disappoint. The love story between Anna and Cole unfolds beautifully. Their relationship is explosive from the start. Anna and Cole marry quickly, both for different reasons: Cole wants to grant his dying grandmother’s wish to be happy and Anna wants everyone to stop thinking she’s predictable and staid.”
–Kekepania

“The writing was addicting and engaging. There is a great balance of romance and erotica…”
–C. A. Carter

“Linebacker Cole seeks good girl to make dying Grandma happy. He finds her in Vegas where first grade teacher Anna is celebrating her sister’s wedding and trying to feel like she fits in even with her own family. Lots of chemistry between the Cole and Anna results in lots of hot sex.”
–Big Reader

Here’s the set-up:
For April Sullivan-LaMonica, the last ten years have been hell: her husband and young son were killed in a car accident, and soon after, her mom descended into the darkness of Alzheimer’s. So when broadcast journalist Maggie Prescott shows up claiming to be April’s half sister and tries to capture their reunion on film, April outwardly regards Maggie with much suspicion. In reality, she’s simply afraid to grow close to someone again, only to have that person leave–or worse.

Maggie, meanwhile, is battling her own demons: figuring out why her biological mother gave her up, facing a secret she’s kept from the one man she’s loved all her life, and giving herself permission to follow the dream she’s had since she was a child.

Separated by nearly two decades and radically different life paths, April and Maggie must decide if pursuing their sisterhood is worth it…or even possible.

A story of loss, love, survival, and redemption, Forgotten April will speak to anyone who’s experienced the pains–and riches–of an unexpected friendship that emerges from family ties.

Ron Ketchum saw his share of the dark side of life as a cop in Los Angeles. Then he left L.A. to become the chief of police in the Sierra Nevada resort town of Goldstrike. One sunny morning in the mountains, though, he comes upon a crime unlike anything he’s ever seen before.

“Once again, Joseph Flynn weaves a well-written story with twists and turns and of who done its, until all the puzzle pieces seem to fit.” –Donald Sabino

Here’s the set-up:

Police chief Ron Ketchum and his deputy drive around a bend in the road and encounter death:  an African-American man nailed to a tree.

The victim is a highly respected minister, and his father is the nationally known televangelist Jimmy Thunder. Ron, on the other hand, has described himself in court as a recovering bigot.

Goldstrike’s mayor for life and movie icon, Clay Steadman, wants Ron to catch the killer fast. Adding to the pressure, the victim’s grandmother comes to town. She tells the media mob that has descended on Goldstrike that God will curse the town until the killer is caught.

That’s when a rogue mountain lion begins attacking people. At first, the attacks happen on the wilderness outskirts of Goldstrike. Then the predator moves into town, leaping a fence into a family’s backyard. Finally, it turns the tables on one of the hunters sent out to bring it down.

Looking for a killer, hunting a lion and defending his own integrity — makes being a cop in L.A. seem like the good old days.

What the Reviewers Say
“Goldstrike, CA is a tranquil lake side city of 12,000 located 6,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Enter two killers who interrupt the idyllic lifestyle of two “salt and pepper” transposed cops from the City of Angels. One killer committed the heinous crime of crucifying a black minister. The other, a mountain lion, had developed an insatiable taste for two-legged prey. Factor in the crucified victim’s grandmother who lays a curse on the town, causing panic and racial hatred.”
–Donald Sabino

” It was very entertaining as all his books are. Takes place in California with a couple of ex-LAPD cops as the Chief & Deputy Chief of the town. And a movie star as the mayor-for-life. A young black man is found nailed to a tree. You will need to read it to find out more.”
–Slqcme

Here’s the set-up:

“There is no greater drug than relationships; there is no sweeter death than love.”

Love is horrible. It’s ruthless, messy, mind-altering, and raw. It takes no prisoners. It chews you up and spits you out and leaves you for dead. Love is, you could say, very much like a zombie.

In this haunting short story collection, anything is possible—a dying musician turns to tea for inspiration; a police sergeant struggles with a very unusual victim; a young wife is trapped in a house hiding unimaginable evil….

With “ Hungry For You“, A.M. Harte explores the disturbing and delightful in an anthology that unearths the thin boundary between love and death.

What the Reviewers Say
“In this haunting short story collection, anything is possible–tea helps a dying musician with his inspiration for an ode to his girl, a young wife is trapped in a house hiding a form of evil you would never expect, a counterspy ponders a mission that found him face to face with a deadly virus and it’s carriers and promises are kept in life and in death.”
–Heather Faville

“Ms. Harte really took Zombies to a whole new level for me. She took the mythos, turned it on it’s head, and spun it right round. Multiple times. Threw them all in a box and then went way, way out of the box. Especially when you consider that the entire collection are little more than love stories.(She said, as if love stories are somehow small, fragile things she knows they’re not.)

“Ms. Harte writes with such beautiful subtlety that I really needed to pace myself reading Hungry For You. I could not go through the stories at a dead sprint, I needed time to let the stories simmer in, to really take in the full effect of the passion that drove the majority of the stories. It was a winding experience. I loved it!”
–Soleil Noir

“A.M. Harte’s writing was wonderfully descriptive, very visual, often poetic. Her dialogue flowed smoothly. I love how she made zombies have personalities and feelings. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends and family.”
–Ann Charles, author

Thrilling and Creative”

Here’s the set-up:

Alex Teague tried to live a normal life. He was a normal high school senior . . . until he talked to his first ghost, exorcised his first demon, and cleansed his first haunted house.

If only it ended there.

Now a young man in his twenties, Alex makes a horrifying discovery.

He is part demon. And the supernatural world won’t leave him alone.

What the Reviewers Say
“Dark & twisted (in a way that I really enjoy), fast-paced, amazingly-defined characters.”
–Jerry Hanel
I loved it! The main character Alex realizes he’s going through changes, but its not the normal boyhood to manhood changes, but instead he finds out he’s part demon!”
–Da Wifey
Demonspawn by Glenn Bullion is just plain great. But, not plain. Just great. I really enjoyed the ease and flow of the story from start to finish. I would encourage everyone who has ever been in love with their best friend and never realized it to read this. Also, anyone who has ever had to deal with their demonic powers should give this a read over as well. Great job, Glenn! I hope you put out more books soon!”

About the Author
I live in Maryland with my wonderful wife and three cats. I love gaming, computer technology, movies, and of course, reading and writing. I love science fiction and especially horror. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies, anything supernatural, all beautiful subjects.

I’ve been writing since I was twelve years old. There’s just something about creating a story that I like. It’s always fun to try to come up with something that hasn’t been done, or is unique in some way. It’s fun to build a character, give him a personality and background.
