I love reading mysteries and literature. Hunting for Hemingway is both. It combines all of the thrills of an exciting mystery with the insightful background of Hemingway's lost manuscripts.

Here's the set-up:
Although insurance investigator DD McGil has always had her choice of lovers, she?s been spectacularly unlucky in love. Now one of DD?s former flames, Hemingway expert David Barnes, claims to have recovered the legendary stories and poems that Hemingway?s first wife lost while on a train to Switzerland in 1922. Barnes plans to auction them off for millions, but controversy rages. Are they truly the lost Hemingway works or are they forgeries? Found? Or stolen? DD?s quest to prove the manuscripts genuine puts her on the trail of a killer. The hunter quickly becomes the hunted when someone tries to stop her?dead.
One Reviewer Notes:
...[A] rather promiscuous insurance DD McGil is hot on the trail of the famous missing suitcase of Hemingway original drafts that the writer's first wife lost on a train to Switzerland. Oh, there's a requisite sample of Papa's missing pieces, but it's the reality of the Chicago backdrop presented by a Chicagoan that gives the book its credibility. And we do discover some well-researched gossip about the former Oak Park resident. But then the naïve detective becomes the hunted and--despite a few too many characters and sub-plots--it all comes to a head at the end, which like the summer storm is always a promise away.

Madsen attended the University of Chicago and earned an M.A. in 17th century English from Roosevelt University. She also ran her own consulting busines and is listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry and the World Who's Who of Women. Fascinated by crime, history and business, her interest in writing murder mysteries was sparked when she met the suspect of a murder case that occurred near her home. The suspect was convicted then later exonerated of the crime, and the encounter caused her to rethink how people form their first impressions of murder suspects. Her Scots heritage and membership in Robert Burns, St. Andrews and Caledonian Societies contributed to writing this book. Diane, her husband Tom, and their two Japanese Chin dogs, Sugar & Spice, now live in Florida at Twin Ponds, a five-acre wildlife sanctuary.
