New Games Slingo and Wordoku Unbound #1 Added, and Now We’ve Gathered All Kindle Games in One Place!

Don’t miss: Today’s Free Book Alert Sponsor: FRIENDS AND OTHER PERISHABLES Dale Whisman and our Kindle Nation eBook of the Day: THE ADVOCATE’S BETRAYAL Teresa Burrell

http://bit.ly/KindleGames
Each week we have more news from Amazon about Kindle games, and it is obvious that they are very popular with Kindle owners, and this week Stephanie wrote me Slingo and Puzzazz’ new game Wordoku Unbound #1.
These are tons of fun, even though I’ll admit that I tend to agree with Kindle Nation citizen Chris B, who wrote in that “these games are nice, but I’m still waiting for them to come out with a real notepad and maybe calendar for the thing.”
In any case, just to make it easy for Kindle gamers to find exactly what we’re looking for, we’ve created a separate page for Kindle Games in our new Kindle Nation eBook Emporium, which is still in the roll-out phase but has already become the place where the greatest readers in the world do their shopping.
We’ve listed over 22 “Kindle Active Content” games for your convenience, and if you go there you’ll see free games displayed in the right hand column on each of the first two pages. And oh, by the way, if you happen to notice that one of your favorites is missing, please drop me an email at KindleNation@gmail.com. Thanks!
If you are reading this on your Kindle but you want to type in a bookmark on your Kindle or any other device, here it is: http://bit.ly/KindleGames

Kindle Nation Daily Free Book Alert, Saturday, December 11: A New Jackie Collins Freebie! plus private eye-turned-author Dale Whisman is on the case in Friends and Other Perishables (Today’s Sponsor)

Ain’t life a beach? There were things to do this weekend, but here’s no less a literary talent than Jackie Collins to distract us with this morning’s latest addition to our 180+ Free Book Alert listings….

But first, a word from … Today’s Sponsor
Are you ready to join us in discovering a new star on the private eye fictions scene? Here’s a “thrill-packed novel [that] grabs you in the first paragraph and never lets you go. An outstanding debut” from a former private investigator who knows his stuff, says William Bernhardt, author of the best selling Ben Kincaid series.

“…exciting private investigative tale contains a strong mystery…solid cozy starring a likable champion who handles being shot at and wounded with aplomb, but goes a bit crazy when his family comes under attack.”

-10 out of 10 from #1 Amazon Reviewer Harriet Klausner, The Readers Guild

And that’s not all. Friends and Other Perishables has received rave reviews from the trade journals, like this one from Alfred Hitchock Mystery Magazine:

“The image of the hard-boiled detective has undergone many transformations since the days of Hammett and Chandler. Still, the idea of a married man with a couple of young daughters working the mean streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma, seems hardly noir. But in Dale Whisman’s debut, Friends and Other Perishables, PI Carl Jacobs is a bona fide member of the fraternity. Whisman spins a good story and has created a likable, credible hero and a supporting cast with good depth and a promise of staying power that bodes well for future appearances.”

“Whisman guides you effortlessly through the consistently suspenseful story with a great sense of humor, and of what it means to be really tough. You will not be able to put this book down, and you can’t say that about too many mysteries these days. So treasure this one for all it’s worth.”

Read a free sample of our Kindle Nation eBook of the Day, The Advocate’s Betrayal by Teresa Burrell, without leaving your browser!

Sabre Orin Brown is a legal advocate for children in the San Diego justice system. She witnesses her share of horror every day. Every now and then, that horror gets personal.
Here’s the set-up for Teresa Burrell’s The Advocate’s Betrayal:

When Sabre’s friend Betty calls one morning with the shocking news that her husband was murdered in his sleep, Sabre makes it her mission to find the killer. The cops suspect Betty, and Sabre has no leads. It would be easier if Betty wasn’t hiding something, but even after she gets thrown in jail, she refuses to say a word about her past and the mystery that chased the couple across the country and ultimately hunted her husband to his death.

Sabre can’t put her own life on hold, either. She is still trying to protect the two children on her caseload whose parents have brainwashed them with a violent racial hatred. She’s also recovering from the horrific events of the previous year, when a stalker burned her home ground.
Life never gets easy, but at least Sabre is not alone. She has the comfort of her calm and stable boyfriend, Luke, and the help of good friends. But when a private detective, JP, follows the murder from Betty’s empty trailer home to a small town in Texas and a nightclub in Chicago, it starts to seem like finding the answers may be more dangerous than ever.

Only one thing becomes remarkably clear: When the people closest to you have so much to hide, you can’t trust anyone.

(Ed. Note: Each day lately I get several emails from readers who have discovered new, previously unknown authors with a little help from our Kindle Nation features, and frankly it is one of the things I enjoy most about my work. But if it’s one thing to be able to help you find a single novel that gives you pleasure, my own pleasure is all the greater when you connect with a new author who has created a series with characters and a story line that have the power to keep you company over more than just a few hours. It has happened in a range of different genres from Paul Levine’s Jake Lassiter mysteries to Imogen Rose’s Portal Chronicles to today’s sponsoring author, Jason Letts, and — in his POWERLESS series — a narrative of fascinating speculation and magical beauty that will show you on nearly every “page” why it is entirely appropriate that author Tim O’Brien would have offered an epigraph, quoted above the fold, from his stirring Vietnam War novel The Things They Carried. Today it’s a pleasure to help Mr. Letts present The Stasis, the third novel in the POWERLESS saga. If it’s all new to you, you are in for a treat, and the author has stepped to help introduce you by offering the first novel in the series — Powerless: The Synthesisfor just 99 cents for a limited time. -S.W.)

Here’s the set-up:

In a world where everyone has a unique, magical power, the only girl without one must find a way to bring her family together. Mira Ipswich couldn’t have ever known the startling difference that separates her from the rest of humanity. But when she discovers a strange anomaly in the midst of her seclusion, her parents are forced to reveal she exists in a world where everyone is imbued with a wondrous natural gift. Everyone except herself that is. As this naïve, headstrong girl attempts to understand her inconceivable condition and fit in with peers, she becomes embroiled with the dangerous forces that threaten her homeland.
The first three books in this tale of discovery and excitement are available now. In The Synthesis, Mira struggles over how to achieve her ambitious goals while being hopelessly different. In The Shadowing, she and her friends take on mentors who offer them disturbing truths about the world they live in. And in the newly released third book, The Stasis, this small group of teens must set off for the warfront and the confrontation that has awaited them their entire lives. The danger and intensity grow exponentially, and only the strength of their friendships will determine if they persevere.
See below to download each of the three volumes of Jason Letts’ POWERLESS series (or their free samples) to your Kindle, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, Android-compatible, PC or Mac and start reading within 60 seconds!

Read a free sample of our eBook of the Day, Terrence O’Brien’s intricate thriller The Templar Concordat without leaving your browser!

If you loved the ideas behind Dan Brown’s bestsellers, but weren’t so crazy about all the arty esoterica, Terrence O’Brien’s The Templar Concordat could be the book of the year for you….

Here’s the set-up:

When the truth is your greatest danger, and the enemy knows the truth, things can only go downhill when the enemy finally gets the proof. And that’s the proof the Hashashin get when they steal what the Vatican doesn’t even know it has.

Now the infallible decrees of two Twelfth Century popes and three kings, stolen by the Hashashin, threaten to catapult the bigotry, bias, and religious blood baths of the Third Crusade straight into the Twenty-First Century.

When Templars Sean Callahan and Marie Curtis are drawn into the mess, they face an ancient enemy that has already nearly won the battle, a newly elected Mexican pope being undermined by entrenched Vatican powers, world class scholars who will sell their prestige to the highest bidder, and terrorists lingering over lattes in sidewalk cafes.

Moving from Rome to London, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia, Callahan and Curtis are desperate to find some way to stem the success the Hashashin are having enlisting the majority of moderate Muslims in their Jihad.

Outmanuevered at each step by the Hashashin, only a last ditch roll of the dice has any chance of success. But it’s the only chance they have.

Terrance O’Brien can really, really write! If you like Vince Flynn, Jack DuBrul, Brad Thor, Dan Brown and similar authors you are going to love this new author. I started reading this book on a Saturday morning and couldn’t stop reading until I finished it. The book is nonstop action with exciting plots, intrigue where the stakes are high, a driven hero named Callahan, who is my new favorite character, and an ending that will leave you begging for his next book. This is an exciting and satisfying read and I highly recommend it.
