Mystery and thriller writer Cheryl Bradshaw, author of the Sloane Monroe series, invites you along for the most important ride of Sloane’s life…

What if you’d been given a second chance to catch your sister’s killer—would you take it? And if you did, would a lifetime behind bars be justice enough, or would you need to see him dead?

MEET SLOANE

Private Investigator Sloane Monroe has solved every case that’s come across her desk with the exception of one—the brutal murder of her sister, Gabrielle.

Three years have passed without a trace of the killer until today, when a young woman’s body is discovered on a patch of dirt in front of the local supermarket at daybreak. Now Sloane is faced with the most difficult challenge of her life—finding a man who’s a master at concealing his identity before he captures his next victim and sends them to eternal rest.

MEET SAM

Park City, Utah was a peaceful place until Sinnerman came to town.

Enter the mind of Sam Reids, a serial killer who slashes his trademark letter S into the wrist of his female victims before he discards their bodies in the same place he found them.

Who is he, and why does he prey on innocent women?

From the reviewers:

Grips you from the very first page!  I enjoyed this novel immensely and hope she writes many more in the series.  –  “wyoboy”

If you are a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fan, the first chapter will leave you gasping. I don’t think I lifted my whiskey until I had put down the book at the very end.  I enjoyed the continuity from the first book, and how the characters developed further. Lots of “no way”. I also appreciated the forensic side of the storyline, putting together the puzzle to find the killer. Cannot wait for the next installment. Great read, loved it, need more !!!!!   –  Sheralee

Suspenseful and Thrilling 10 Stars for Cheryl Bradshaw.  Only once in a while do you come upon a Novel that sweeps you literally off your feet. The potboiling tension in this story is out of this world. I was taken to that place where few readers go, on a euphoric high like releasing endorphins after running a certain distance as they kick in to your brain. This book will do the same for you  –  Glen Cantrell

Bradshaw writes a great thriller, with likeable characters, and a taunt timeline that keeps you reading way past lights-out.  –  Robin Landry

Born and raised in Southern California, Cheryl Bradshaw became interested in writing at a young age, but it was almost two decades before she put pen to paper. In 2009 Cheryl wrote her first novel, Black Diamond Death (the first book in her Sloane Monroe series).

Within six weeks of its release it was in the top #100 in two different mystery categories on the Kindle and has been a top ranked novel since April 2011 averaging 4.8 out of 5 stars from reviewers. Sinnerman (the second novel in her series) also has a perfect five-star ranking from 13 reviewers.
When she’s not hard at work writing her next novel, Cheryl is an avid reader and loves to travel. “Every place I visit offers inspiration in one form or another which I draw from when I’m writing. I chose Park City as Sloane’s humble abode because I lived there and have a fondness for the quaint little town which I visit often.”

Are you mad as hell?

At last, Stephen Windwalker provides the concise tell-it-like-it-is narrative for which we have all been waiting: How did we get here, how much worse is it going to get, and what can we do to protect ourselves, our families, and our future?

The time for seeing the world through a rose-colored lens is long over. Simple truths that run deep through Windwalker’s writing come directly from years of helping working and retired people stand up for economic justice as one of the country’s top community organizers.

Readers of Windwalker’s books on technology and commerce have come to appreciate the thoughtfulness and intellectual depth with which he has illuminated those subjects. Now he applies the same intelligent focus to a far more daunting task: helping us all to see how, together, we can climb out of the deep hole that we have dug together for ourselves, our children and grandchildren.

With a succinct explanation of the relentless waves that continue to drown national economies around the world, he clears the fog of denial to reveal a rolling global depression that could last through much of the coming decade.

From the reviewers:

Before reading The Worried Citizen’s Little Survival Guide To The Greatest Financial Crisis Of The Century, I expected the book to be a re-hash of all the cable network shows that have begun to bore even the most avid worrier of our economic downturn. I was so wrong.  Windwalker’s original, concise and powerful analysis of today’s most troublesome state of affairs shows us all how we, as individuals, are effected and will be far into the future.  –  Donna Rose

Elegantly written, direct, no punches pulled.  Every time I see those CNBC guys pontificating about when the recovery is going to begin I want to scream. In Windwalker, though, I have a kindred spirit who knows what is really at stake for families and individual working people and retired people these days. He tells it like it is, but the direct approach does not keep him from being able to break down the most complicated economic events in elegant, easy-to-understand language. I read this as a Kindle exclusive and my only regret is that I have to wait weeks for the paperback to share it with most of my friends.  –  Rena D

I cut my teeth as a writer covering the Cape Cod Baseball League and other sports for what was then called the Cape Cod Standard-Times and later the Boston Globe, studied the craft of writing with Robert Lowell, Kurt Vonnegut, Monroe Engel and Carter Wilson, and served as Fiction Editor of the Harvard Advocate.

In 1999 I founded a small independent publishing company called Harvard Perspectives Press (named after two of my favorite institutions from my undergraduate years, the Harvard House of Pizza and the Harvard Wine Company), and it has done astonishingly well, with a couple of niche bestsellers, other work that we have been proud to publish, and now some stunning successes with the Kindle publishing platform.

I have three wonderful children, and along the way I’ve been an author, a community organizer, a bookseller, a publishing executive, a marathoner, an elected official, and some other things unsuitable for mention here.

Paul Clayton’s WHITE SEED: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE LOST COLONY OF ROANOKE is Our eBook of the Day at just $3.99, with 3.9 Stars on 20 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Paul Clayton’s White Seed: The Untold Story of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, just $3.99 on Kindle:

One of the most haunting mysteries in American history — The Lost Colony of Roanoke — comes roaring back to life in White Seed, with a compelling cast of characters, among them:

Maggie Hagger, indentured Irish serving girl, a victim of rape and intimidation,

Manteo, Croatoan interpreter for the English, inhabitant of two worlds, belonging to neither,

John White, ineffective Governor, painter, dreamer, father and grandfather,

Captain Stafford, brave and disciplined, but cruel soldier.

Powhatan, shrewd Tidewater warlord who wages a stealthy war against the colonists.

From Publishers Weekly: This above-average historical hews closely to the record of Sir Walter Raleigh’s second doomed attempt to plant the British flag in Virginia, but embroiders the who, what, when with enough… embellishment to create a riveting story.

The focus is 17-year-old “wench” Maggie Hagger, whose passage on Raleigh’s ship was paid by colony Governor Sir John White so she can serve his pregnant daughter. The ship’s stormy passage to the New World — during which widower White falls for Maggie, who is meanwhile evading unwanted advances from a scalawag — establishes the many well-wrought characters, some noble (particularly real-life Native Manteo), others evil.

The depiction of the colony’s physical and moral disintegration between 1587 and 1590 — as drunken, cannibalistic soldiers mutiny and brutalize the settlers they were meant to protect, and as colonists confront disease, starvation and madness — evokes a harrowing sense of human fallibility.

Readers with more than a nodding familiarity with American colonial history will experience a … déjà vu, but others less hip to what happened in late-16th century times will find this saga, which starts slowly but soon reaches page-turner velocity, to be both a dandy diversion and an entertaining education.

From the reviewers:

Dropping off the face of the earth, the lost colony of Roanoke has been the attraction of much wonder. “White Seed: The Untold Story of the Lost Colony of Roanoke” is a novel offering Paul Clayton’s take on this lost colony of people who were abandoned by their countrymen on the shores of the uncharted Virginia. Telling a story of an abused Irish girl finding her place in this new world and finding love in the wrong places, and the plotting of local warlords, “White Seed” is a fascinating read that should not be missed.  – Midwest Book Review

For readers of American history, the barely known chapters, of Raleigh’s ill-fated experimental colony have always sparked conjecture.White Seed does an admirable job in bringing together the realities of the late 16th century including class warfare, global politics and incomplete understanding of the reasons for exploration and colonizing the New World.  –  Richard Sutton

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this take on the mysterious historical fiction of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Virginia. The development of the characters is well done and the reader can easily become engaged with the book. The story is plausible, and it may have actually happened that way. No one knows. I especially like that the author wove fictional characters and stories in with real events and characters. It was very well done and highly recommended.  –  Catherine M. Lawler

Paul Clayton is the author of a three-book historical series on the Spanish Conquest of the Floridas–Calling Crow, Flight of the Crow, and Calling Crow Nation (Putnam/Berkley), and a novel, Carl Melcher Goes to Vietnam (St. Martin’s Press), based on his own experiences in that war.

Carl Melcher Goes to Vietnam was a finalist at the 2001 Frankfurt eBook Awards, along with works by Joyce Carol Oates (Faithless) and David McCullough (John Adams).

Paul currently lives in California, with his son and daughter.

And so it came to pass in the waning days of our century that a curious deal was struck between Heaven and Hell, or more specifically between Lucifer Morning Star and the Presence.

The Book of Life, that book that holds the names of those souls deemed for salvation, has been stolen from the Silver City. Without the Book there can be no Judgement as foretold in the Revelation.

Two renegade angels are suspect and are believed to be on Earth.  For reasons known only to himself, Lucifer accepts the deal with Heaven to recover the Book of Life.

But jealousy and pride are not an exclusive domain. A small band of angels lead by Mika’il, the Angel of Vengeance, seeks to stop him.

Accompanying the Morning Star on the most important quest in Creation are Maggie McCreedy, a recently widowed romance writer now witness to Lucifer’s Testament; Duma, a misfit angel who almost joined in the Fall; Andrew Honeybone, a not quite yet dead, but rotting lawyer, and Mr. Pouge, an enigmatic gorilla of a man.

Together their journey takes them from the Silver City of Heaven to the Ninth Circle of Hell to the now desert wasteland of an earthly Eden.

It is a mythical mystery tale of redemption, deceit, salvation, betrayal and faith.

From the reviewers:

“DSH’s writing is witty, smart and precise.” – Chicago Sun-Times

This book is fresh new take on the relationship between Heaven & Hell that is at times gripping and humorous. Reading the first book of this new trilogy will leave you wanting more. My first reaction upon finishing the book was WOW!!!  –  Susan J. Rea

Hay has already enjoyed significant praise from sources such as Chicago Sun-Times, so I won’t go into detail about his credentials as an author. Nonetheless, he is selling FALL at a modest $2.99, which is a ridiculous steal for such quality writing.  –  S. Thorgersen

Next HELL’S GATE:  A US Armored Cavalry Regiment finds themselves in a strange new land… a novella bridging Book One and Book Two: WINTER: The Siege of Heaven

Praise for CLONING CHRIST: The Second Book of Daniel Number 7 on the Amazon UK Thriller Best Seller List!

CLONING CHRIST heralds a mercurial new talent to the page!  Quirky, riveting, hilarious, disturbing, and unclassifiable (in the best sense), CLONING CHRIST is  a page-turner that is at once magically realistic and completely allegorical.”  – Jay Bonansinga, National Bestselling Author of PINKERTON’S WAR, PERFECT VICTIM, and co-author of THE WALKING DEAD TRILOGY.

Praise for FOUNTAIN (or Art Has a Right to Children)
“Darkly funny… a howling success!”   – Pinckney Benedict, MIRACLE BOY AND OTHER STORIES

“Smart, inventive, and accomplished.”   – Naeem Murr, THE PERFECT MAN

“David Scott Hay has done a something incredible – an artful book about an arty subject that doesn’t drop into pretension. ‘FOUNTAIN‘ is an affecting story about tough, interesting people who hold beauty up like Achilles’ shield against a very real, very bitter, and oddly funny world. A must for fans of sharp tongues and sharp writing.”  – Darren Callahan, THE WHITE AIRPLANE & HORROR ACADEMY: TWO PLAYS

David Scott Hay is an award-winning Chicago playwright, screenwriter and novelist. He also wrote and directed the acclaimed indie feature film HARD SCRAMBLED. Coming soon: HELL’S GATE, a Fallen novella bridging Book I & Book II.

Daniel Tomelin, a battle-worn veteran haunted by the carnage of the First World War, deserts his family in the Great Depression and goes on the road to seek relief from his soul-shaking trauma. He’s too proud to return and face his loving wife without a job, but LaDaisy is determined to care for their family alone, if that’s what it takes.

After leaving his loved ones to cope with a hell he helped create, does Daniel dare show his face again? Sometimes LaDaisy feels like killing him.

Face the Winter Naked is a story for today’s struggling economy and unemployed citizens, set in a tragic era when hope was sometimes all they had.

Bonnie Turner’s Face the Winter Naked is set during the Great Depression, but her story encompasses issues that reach far beyond that era and know no time constraints”war. Political strife. Economic collapse. Environmental catastrophe. Division of families. Cruelty and oppression. Poverty, inequity, and all the faces of prejudice. But it is also about love. And faith. And strength. And hope, forgiveness, and perseverance.

Face the Winter Naked provides an engrossing read in which Turner interweaves history, geography, and a compelling love story. More than that, it is a story that looks beyond the surface, delving into the inner workings of the human mind, “a powerful narrative that illuminates larger issues of humanity that are timeless and volatile and just as apropos today as decades ago. “  ~ Karen Donley-Hayes, M.A.I.S., author and editor

From the reviewers:

Face the Winter Naked is a gorgeously written and evocative novel of an earlier economic crisis: the Great Depression. Readers looking for a stunning read, intelligent and emotional on every level, will not be disappointed.”  ~ Lauren Baratz-Logsted, author of Crazy Beautiful and The Education of Bet

“Bonnie Turner’s Face the Winter Naked is a beautifully written tale of strength, hope, love, and despair. Within the pages of this book, the era of the Great Depression unfolds into sharply focused reality, and the people who were impacted the most by that time of financial desperation come to life. Ms. Turner is an excellent storyteller, and I found myself completely immersed in her narrative.”  Bobby @ BookWenches.com

Famed N.Y.P.D. Lieutenant, Dax McGowan, attempts to track down and kill the pedophile priest who caused his daughter to commit suicide.

A city-wide foot race soon turns into an international manhunt, taking him to the gates of Vatican City and beyond with startling results.

An intransigent and deceitful church hierarchy, a politically weakened D.A.’s response, and mysterious assassins dispatched to “take him down” thwart his every move.

From the reviewers:

Being a fan of suspense and action mystery, this book had it all covered for me. Mr. Harney has a nice simple writing style that makes the story easy to follow. a very unique fashion. Apparently the author has researched this subject area considerably, and it gave me a new insight into this disturbing topic. I’m looking forward to reading the next work from this author. —- Bill Partak

“It’s as if Jack Harney had a crystal ball!”  –  NY Time’s bestselling author Mary Jane Clark (on her Facebook page)

It is hard to believe this is Jack Harney’s first book. I could not put the book down. I was impressed in the amount of research that was done. This was a good mystery novel that I hope to see more of. Being Catholic myself, it was very thought provoking. Great job Jack.  — “blm”

As an author of books that require extensive research (aka Thomas K Matthews) I was impressed with the information provided by Jack Harney in The Millstone Prophecy.   This is a wonderfully written, harshly real and intriguing story filled with the stark truth and shines the light of exposure onto a dark and hidden reality. A great job.  –  Stacy Matthews

I am Bronx born of Irish descent. Despite a family move taking me to Michigan as a teenager, where I spent most of my adult life, NewYork keeps calling me back. Because my ancestors arrived through Ellis Island more than a century ago, I sometimes think I possess a genetic component that craves a very specific high energy environment indigenous only to New York City. On my bucket list is to eventually end up back there…well for summers at least.

So it was no fluke that at the beginning of my writing career my first work would revolve around a famed, Bronx born, Irish N.Y.P.D. detective, Dax McGowan, who is driven to track down and kill the priest that caused his daughter’s suicide.

From the author: The story involves his manhunt that takes him to the walls of Vatican City and beyond with startling results. It’s Dax’s battle with the institution, a politically weakened response from the D.A.’s office, and struggles with his own grief and conscience in the process. There are also two very strong women who Dax must engage in order to reach his prey. One is a lesbian, street smart S.V.U. detective, and the other a lady who heads a worldwide sex abuse victim’s network who carries a secret Dax endeavors to uncover…though this relationship involves some intriguing twists.

What he doesn’t expect is that the quest to destroy his daughter’s killer will only lead to facing his own imminent death. Dax has his quirks, but without them, he’d be less than the revered detective he is.
