Here’s the set-up:

An epic 1980’s Supernatural tragic coming of Age love story.

The high school prom was the worst night of David’s life, and twenty years later, he’s unable to get over high school. But given the tragic circumstances of that night, who could? There are nine student deaths at Stanton High School every year. Surviving senior year has never been so stressful. In the 1980’s, crime, gangs, and violence, have taken over New York City, making life a challenge for any student. The story follows David from the first day of his senior year, all the way to graduation. Doubts, a lack of direction, and regret are weighing heavily on his mind.

He is a musical prodigy confused about college, life, and career choices. He can’t trust his classmates at his ultra-competitive high school, where the goal is Harvard (no matter who gets hurt in the process.) Delancey is the girl of his dreams, but she is out of his league. The SATS, choices for college, school dances, and the prom, all start to overwhelm David. A fellow student, obsessed with the metaphysical world, befriends David and creates a doorway into a supernatural world where must give the musical performance of his life in order to win back the girl of his dreams.

An unforeseen plot twist leads the reader to a thrilling and suspenseful ending. Worlds Apart is an urban retelling of the the Greek Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Here’s the set-up:

“The Steps They Took” is the story of a man haunted by suspicion, plagued with resentment, and feeling victimized by life, whose vindictiveness toward his philandering wife backfires, leaving him estranged from his children, seared by loneliness, and facing dire legal consequences. He meets Suze, a woman five years his senior and an upper-class socialite married to one of the richest men in Texas. Her untreated alcoholism and a series of affairs, culminate in a relationship with Father Serge, an ambitious Catholic priest whose reaction to her pregnancy leaves Suze heartbroken and bewildered.

While battling to vindicate himself and reunite with his children, Renn is forced to accept his role in his wife’s infidelity and confront personal issues that are as painful as they are revelatory. Suze, embittered by a conspiracy involving her mother, Father Serge, and the bishop of the local diocese, turns to counseling and Alcoholics Anonymous to uncover the underlying causes of her self-destructive behaviors and, in the process, comes to a spiritual and personal crossroads. “The Steps They Took” examines the redemptive power of surrender, forgiveness, and hope in recreating shattered lives.

From the reviewers:

Scott Williams’ book is brilliant and unique. It is the story of a father fighting for custody of his children from a despicable, unfaithful wife. What’s so wonderful about his book is how Mr. Williams weaves the philosophy and practices of the Alcoholics Anonymous Program into the pages without beating you over the head with it or trying to convert you. The dialogue is authentic, the main character’s emotional upheaval feels real. After reading “The Steps They Took” I wanted to fly to Corpus Christi and have this brilliant, descriptive writer give me a personal tour of a magical city. It is indeed a real page turner! – Amazon.com reviewer

This was an excellent book about two individuals who experience turmoil, adversity, change and growth in their lives. The author’s style of writing is very captivating and I found myself having difficulty putting the book down once I started reading. The ending was great and unexpected. I loved Mr. Williams descriptive style of writing and the history of the area in and around Corpus Christi, Texas. I would highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more by this debut author. -Amazon reviewer

“The Steps They Took” brings together two despondent strangers who lean on each other for moral support. In the process of disentangling the messes their lives have become, each of them grows spiritually and emotionally into caring, mature individuals who can accept responsibility for their actions and forgive the people who wronged them. The characters are vivid and real. This novel is an enlightening read for anyone who thinks there is little hope left. – Cynthia Breeding, author

Here’s the set-up:

In the woods behind the park … buried beneath the ground … a secret waits.

Thirteen-year-old Gabe Wrenn is unsettled by his family’s move to the creepy old house on Byrnmor Street. Even more unsettling is the prospect of being the new kid in school on Monday, and the object of everyone’s gawking stares, when all he wants is to be left alone with his sketchpad.

But unsettled can’t begin to describe how Gabe feels when he first stands in The Woods, an old oak grove bordering the park behind his house, and a mysterious voice summons him to “the Door to the East.” It’s an epileptic hallucination for sure, and another sign that his bullying older brother Sam is right: Gabe’s nothing but a brain-damaged freak.

This opinion is not shared by Ellie Yvonne, the impetuous girl next door. With disturbing conviction, Ellie declares that Gabe’s epilepsy makes him special. It could even be the key to unlocking the secret of the Brynmor Witch’s bramble-choked grave at the heart of The Woods.

“Into the Mist: Silver Hand” is the first book in a two-part fantasy adventure story about an unlikely hero who triumphs over isolation and adversity through friendship and a strange new sense of self-confidence that results when he takes possession of a relic of unknown origins.

Here’s the set-up:

Gently touching the handle of the front door was all it took to make it swing wide open. It was late, after midnight, and everyone in the house except Tom was asleep. As usual, Tom was in his study working late. Walking carefully and quietly through the foyer, the adrenaline began to kick in. The intruder confidently walked into Tom’s study. Tom was concentrating so hard on the papers in front of him that he was unaware of anything else. Raising his hand, the intruder hit a stack of books sitting on a side table, sending them crashing to the floor. Tom spun around with a look of shock on his face as he recognized the person swinging a sharp object toward him. Tom raised his hands to protect himself but he wasn’t quick enough. The spikey end of the stiletto heel punctured his neck instantly, sending a spray of blood over the papers on his desk. He tried to cry out, but all that sounded was a gurgling noise as his lungs filled with blood.

The intruder set the shoe down next to Tom and backed out of the room softly, closing the door to the study and hoped no one would come looking for Tom until morning.

Here’s the set-up:

Duty, Honor, Country is the motto of the graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Black Knights of the Hudson is a series of books that tells the saga of the fictional MacKendrick Army family from the Civil War through World War II.

In Shadow of the Flags, brothers James and Timothy MacKendrick must decide whether to honor their oaths to defend the flag and remain in the Blue of the Union Army or to follow kin and closest friends into the Gray of the Confederacy.

Shadow of the Flags is the first book in the story of the MacKendrick Army family. James MacKendrick and his younger brother, Timothy, are both graduates of West Point but have been raised in a proud Virginia family. When Civil War rips their country apart, each must make the heartbreaking decision as to whether to stay loyal to the United States or join the tide of other Southern-bred officers who choose to follow their home states out of the Union. For James, the decision revolves around his affection for his Virginia homeland as well as personal ambition. Graduated at the top of his class, James understands that great men often rise from the anonymity of the battlefield. For lighthearted Timothy, in his first exciting assignment with the 1st Cavalry, the decision carries a heavy burden: West Point and his determination to honor his soldier’s commitment against his strong friendship with J.E.B. Stuart and Fitzhugh Lee.

The MacKendrick brothers are not alone as they face the dawn of war. Their uncle, Lafayette Randolph, is a close friend and kinsman of Robert E. Lee. He too is a Virginian and graduate of West Point and must make the same difficult decision to remain true to flag or state. Their aunt, gentle Dorothea, provides what motherly support she can to the boys she raised after the deaths of their own parents at the time of the Mexican War. Vivacious Marietta follows her husband to the plague-ridden city of Richmond so that she’ll be there for him on his rare furloughs. Adria Weston, a brilliant and restless young lady from Boston, must balance her sudden infatuation for a professional soldier against her own willful determination to remain her own person.

In Shadow of the Flags, the reader encounters the full panoply of West Point’s legendary Band of Brothers: Robert E. Lee, J.E.B. Stuart, Fitz Lee, Philip Sheridan, George Custer, and Philip St. George Cooke to name only a few of the historical personages who march through the pages of this sweeping saga. From First Manassas to Reconstruction, the MacKendricks confront their destinies on the field of battle and in the loving arms of their women.Duty, Honor, Country is the motto of the graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
