Against the backdrop of epic warfare and the powers of ten mysterious gods, Lucia struggles to understand The Black One.

Her father-king wants war.

Her messianic brother wants peace.

The black god wants his due.

She suffers all the consequences.

King Vieri is losing his war against the lands of Pawelon. Feeling abandoned by his god, he forces his son Caio, the kingdom’s holy savior, to lead his army. Victory ought to come soon.

To counter Caio’s powers, Pawelon’s prince enters the conflict. Rao is a gifted sage, a master of spiritual laws. He joins the rajah to defend their citadel against the invaders. But Rao’s ideals soon clash with his army’s general.

The Black One tortures Lucia nightly with visions promising another ten years of bloodshed. She can no longer tell the difference between the waking world and her nightmares. Lucia knows the black god too well. He entered her bed and dreams when she was ten.

The Black One watches, waiting to see Lucia confront an impossible decision over the fates of two men–and two lands.

“Siregar’s prose is smooth and he has his sense of pacing nailed down … More like this, please.” –  Signal dot Noise blog

“If you want to read a talented new author with a flair for storytelling, you should definitely pick up this story.” -Two Ends of the Pen Blog

“… excellent storytelling in this debut, a tale spun with a degree of elegance I did not fully … it reminds me a bit of Dune …” – Ron C. Nieto’s Blog

“Siregar’s strongest suit may be the character development on display, as the royal siblings and a few other characters exude their personalities and frailties in a believable fashion.” -Skull Salad Reviews

“‘The Black God’s War’ has all the right ingredients … His characters are as passionate as his descriptive prose. The pacing is perfect … This is a work epic fantasy fans don’t want to miss.” -Bryan Thomas Schmidt’s blog

Moses Siregar III is a co-host of the popular Adventures In SciFi Publishing podcast, where he has interviewed Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Guy Gavriel Kay, Sherrilyn Kenyon, David Farland, Tracy Hickman, Michael J. Sullivan, and other fantasy authors. The AISFP podcast has also interviewed Neil Gaiman, Kevin J Anderson, Tad Williams, and Ray Bradbury, among others.  Moses has a B.A. in Religion. He lives in Prescott, AZ with his wife and son. ‘The Black God’s War’ is his first novel.

The author writes:

“When I was ten, I fell in love with an anime series: a space opera spanning three human generations, a saga that unfolded over 85 consecutive episodes and four months of after-school TV. Watching ‘Robotech’ was a spiritual experience for me. I still remember how high I felt after watching the final episode for the first time. How many pleasures in life are better than a well-executed drama?

“After that experience, I decided I wanted to be a storyteller when I grew up, hoping to someday inspire others as Robotech inspired me. Although I’ve written professionally and for pleasure for many years, it wasn’t until recently that I got back around to my heart’s desire when I was a boy: Telling the big story.

“I’ve never had so much fun.

‘The Black God’s War’ is a stand-alone epic fantasy novel and an homage to Homer with a multicultural flavor. It’s also the first book in the ‘Splendor and Ruin’ series.

Serena, at thirteen, leaves her home on the colorful Caribbean island of Curaçao and her beloved grandmother, Oma, when her ambitious, impulsive, and emotionally unstable mother takes her and her sister to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream.
They drive from Miami to Hollywood, where their luck runs out and a 1963 Ford Galaxie becomes their first American home.

Compelling and exotic, the narrative weaves together the hard realities of 1970s Hollywood and memories of an innocent past. The story is rich and tangy, filled with images from around the world. The timeless wisdom Serena’s grandmother imparted to her becomes the compass by which Serena navigates the unscrupulous world she confronts.

Filled with brilliant and visceral characters from multiple countries that come to life and reveal themselves and their cultures, The House of Six Doors gives the reader an intimate look at the complexities of an immigrant’s journey and a young girl’s coming of age in a multicultural Los Angeles. A page-turner, this story is so distinct and intimate that it becomes universal and leaves the reader with profound insights.

From the reviewers:

“Intimate, at times lyrical, charged with pain and wonder, laughter and perennial hope, The House of Six Doors is terrific storytelling.” — Olga Rojer, Associate Professor, American University, Washington DC

“An honest tale of love, acceptance, and American dreams.” — El Mundo

The House of Six Doors is a beautiful weave of hard reality and romance, so real that I couldn’t put it down.” – Nancy Marriott, co-author of “Everything You Need to Know to Feel Go(o)d”

“This is an honest and compelling coming-of-age story that follows a girl as she moves between two cultures, cradled between longing for her indigenous past and the glittering promise of her future in America. Selbert artfully shines light upon the honest transformation of an immigrant family, moving from memories of a windswept island and a grandmother’s wisdom to the poignant integration and reality facing all American immigrants.” – Carol Prunhuber, author of “Women: Around the World and Through the Ages”

“Selbert’s powerful, poignant tale provides a source of strength, in a brilliant, beautiful portrayal of a girl’s coming of age and her struggles with cultural differences.” –Reiki Master Julia Elizabeth Carroll, author of “Nu Reiki Oneness”

“The House of Six Doors tells the story of Serena’s authentic transformation: from young island girl to woman, from small town to big city life, with a strong helping of self-realization. This is my kind of fiction!” –Janice Cook Knight, author of “The Follow Your Heart Cookbook: Recipes from the Vegetarian Restaurant”

“You will find yourself torn between cheering for the mother and wanting to sit her down for an intervention. You will think about yourself and how you would deal with things if you were in that situation. You would wish to be enveloped in Serena’s grandmother’s arms and hear her wisdom. You’ll take that wisdom to heart for your own life.  – Steena Holmes, book blogger at “Chocolate Blessings”

“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes? Of course not…”

The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again. She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.

Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando. Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships. But neither of the handsome pair is quite what he seems. In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride. Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him. If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL.

“Boyfriend From Hell” is the first book in the Falling Angels Saga from the author of the gruesomely hilarious, “Never Slow Dance With A Zombie.”

From the reviewers:

A paranormal book that speaks volumes about the coming of age experience.  E. Van Lowe’s fluid and masterful writing made this book one that I needed to finish. He captures the voice of a teenage girl authentically with Megan, flaws and all.  –  Ellizabeth Talbott

“… a fun , supernatural light-hearted romance…” –  P.L. Phillips

I absolutely loved this book! Right from the start I knew it would become one of my favorite books! 😀 The story line was simple yet interesting; the characters were diverse and surprising; loved the paranormal aspect; I loved that I couldn’t stop laughing or smiling like a crazy person (in some parts) throughout the book; and I LOVED the surprising twists at the end.  –  Liliana

Kate Hamilton’s SWORN is our eBook of the Day at just $3.66 with 5.0 Stars on 1 Review, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Kate Hamilton’s SWORN, just $3.66 on Kindle:

When Bea Trevallis’ parents are killed in a car crash her Aunt Matilda adopts her – except she isn’t her real aunt – and she’s a witch.

Aunt Matilda’s spells are invariably as muddled as she is. And Bea has to put up with them.

It takes a visit with her friend Harry to Count Dracula’s castle to find that his son is more than ordinary. But that’s just when the danger begins.

From the reviewer:

Sworn, is hilarious, teens will have some fun with this one.

In the tradition of true comedy, it parodies some famous horror whilst not being a horror story. You will recognize Frankenstein and Edward Scissorhands, even Lord of the Rings.

Look for them in the hugely funny character Harley, there’s a reason why his eyes keep changing color and it’s not because he’s a vampire, and the description of Rodger evokes Gollum for me. Bea’s friend Harry with her own description of a make-out session with the guy she has the hots for is such fun; tongue in cheek humor abounds.

I loved the witch school and the fabulous made up words.

There are serious threads within the book, the fact that Bea’s parents are in orbit and the kindness of Aunt Matilda, the premise that love can change things. All offset with this beautiful humor, Sworn is a comedy, a romance, a witch fest, a really good read and can be recommended.   –  “fiddlestix”

KATE HAMILTON lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. She visits the castles and estate houses which provide the settings for her books. Quite often she will write about a place only to discover afterwards that it actually exists.

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Heather Huffman’s SUDDENLY A SPY is our eBook of the Day at just $2.99 with 5.0 Stars on 6 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

First-Class Romantic Suspense by the Author of the Free Kindle Sensation THROWAWAY:

Here’s the set-up for Heather Huffman’s Suddenly A Spy, just $2.99 on Kindle:

On her wedding day, Veronica Sinclair thinks she has it all: the loving family, the Vera Wang dress, the hunky husband.

But then a mysterious and beautiful woman shows up at the reception, suggesting Veronica’s new hubby isn’t exactly who he says he is. As if that weren’t enough, Veronica and Richard must flee gunmen in the middle of their honeymoon, convincing Veronica she got more than she bargained for when she said, “I do.”

Thrown into a world of espionage, seduction, and human trafficking, Veronica must fight for the life and husband she thought she had – and she must discover whether they are the life and husband she truly wants.

From the reviewers:

My favorite author!  Heather Huffman has done it again – she’s managed to carefully balance humor and joy with the dark reality of human trafficking and organized crime (and also include some suspense and action). The end result is another enjoyable read (not too heavy, not too light) that sticks with you long after you’ve closed the book and leaves you wanting to go out and do some good in the world.  — Bookie

Her writing is a cross between a love story/thriller, 007 type. This is one book you won’t put down until you are done! She is my kind of writer. Get the book, read it and you be the judge, but I am pretty sure you will love it! All her books are amazing.  —  J. Rogers

I read this after reading and loving Throwaway and it met all of my high expectations. … [I] thought of [the characters] as people I would love to be friends with. I especially liked Heather Huffman’s use of banter in her dialogues. I read the entire book in one day and can’t wait to read Ties That Bind. The books also gave me a website where I donated money to the abused women and girls that are written about so movingly. I strongly recommend this book!  — Dafna Yee

An excellent follow-up to Throwaway, and it’s really cool to see some familiar faces pop up.

Visit Amazon’s Heather Huffman Page

I love writing. It’s more than something I do; it’s who I am. Few things bring me more joy than being elbow-deep in a story. I also believe life is more than the act of taking up air. We all have something we’re good at, something we’re meant to be doing to make this world a better place.

So I’m incredibly grateful to have a publisher like Booktrope who helps me use something I love to make a difference in a cause I care deeply about. A portion of my royalties are donated to organizations that fight human trafficking in one way or another.

When I write, I share a piece of who I am. There’s something of my pain and my victories in each page. (Have fun guessing what’s true and what’s not!) I hope to take readers on a journey with me. Nothing makes me happier than someone writing to say my characters felt like old friends – or that they laughed, cried, yelled or cheered with me along the way.

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Cathryn Grant’s FATAL CUT is our eBook of the Day at just $1.99 with 4.0 Stars on 2 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Cathyrn Grant’s Fatal Cut, just $1.99 on Kindle:

In Fatal Cut, the first novella in this ghostly psychological suspense series, a man is brutally murdered in the church parking lot.  Madison Keith is the only one not surprised by the identity of the killer.  She has witnessed first hand the buried resentments and bitter hearts of the people at her new job, not to mention the lingering passions of those who have passed on.

Both the living and the dead like to reveal their secrets to Madison. As the administrative assistant in the basement office of a suburban church, she gets plenty of opportunity to hear from both.

Print length for this novella is approximately 100 pages.

From the reviewers:

Cathryn Grant has given her protagonist Madison Keith a delightful voice. Madison is smart, witty, and more than a little curious–perfect for a church receptionist. She’s also tattooed, pierced, and unusually perceptive. In this first of a series, Grant introduces us to Madison’s particular brand of detection and mystery solving. Fatal Cut is a page-turning tale that will satisfy, but leave you hungry for the next one.  –  Linda Cassidy Lewis

Cathryn Grant invested much of the first half of her novella to developing the quirks and characteristics of her main character so that by the mid-point of this short book, I felt like I knew – and liked – Madison Keith enough to want to continue reading more stories featuring her. At that point, the other characters began to take shape for me and the whodunit and why aspects came to the fore so that the novella moved quickly to a a believable and satisfying ending. I like the novella form for its necessarily sharp focus and definitely am looking forward to the next Madison Keith venture!   –  Natasha Alexander

Visit Amazon’s Cathryn Grant Page

Cathryn Grant’s short fiction has appeared in Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazines. Her short story, “I Was Young Once”received an honorable mention from Joyce Carol Oates in the 2007 Zoetrope All-story Short Fiction contest.
