From Book 1 of the Desire Series:

A Dystopian world where everyone’s future is planned out for them at age 18…whether it is what a person desires or not. Kama is about to turn 18 and she thinks her Life s Plan will turn out like her boyfriend’s and friend’s as they desired. But when she glimpse a young man who can communicate with her with his thoughts and knows her name…a young man with burning blue eyes and raven hair, who is dressed like no other in her world, she is left to question her Life’s Plan and her destiny. Knowing the truth can destroy everyone…

From a reviewer about SHATTERED:

I fell for the sweet love story in Desire where Kama Johnson gets her Life’s Plan and discovers her longtime love, Liam Seer, is not in her plans. My heart ached for the longing they had for each other in a society that will punish citizens for fighting against their designated plans. Torrid, the incredibly handsome stranger who opens up Kama’s eyes to the truth behind her perfect society, is one of the most sexiest crushes I’ve encountered this year. In Shattered, Kama is forced to fight for her life and the lives of her friends. All around her, Arcadia is crumbling. Oh, Torrid just wins my heart in Shattered, but Liam. OMG Liam’s sacrifice made me cry my eyes out. I couldn’t tell you how this story had affected me so much. Every time I think of Liam, I can’t help crying. The ending is incredible. Kailin Gow has built a world so complete, even the language is uniquely for this world. You have to read it just for that. Hunger Games and Matched readers would love this new dystopian series. Desire is so much more than the formulaic dystopian.  –  Kristen Gabriel

Two more in the series are available via the Author’s Page or Amazon search.

From the reviewers:

This novel is a rollercoaster ride of suspense and mystery, complete with nonstop action and a conclusion that will leave you reeling. Needless to say, this is a great novel for all ages! It has a very interesting premise and the prologue had me hooked within moments. Although the writing style of the prologue is a little different, reading more as an informative narrative than an actual story, it gives the reader a much-needed rundown of Ves Asirin and his life leading up to the opening of the novel. The writing style then switches to a third person narrative, from the first chapter through the remainder of the novel, and is very well written.   – A Book Vacation

This book was packed full of action, and while reading, it constantly keeps you on your toes. Right when you think that the action has stopped, something happens again and the action starts all over again. It’s definitely the type of story to keep you entertained. 🙂   Amber (burning impossibly bright)
Stepping into the fantasy world that Matt Xell created was a wonderful experience. The Tower of Parlen Min is extremely different from the books I typically read, but I sincerely enjoyed it and look forward to reading more about the adventures of Ves in the future. I believe that this book would be and excellent story for boys 12-14 year old; but girls and young adults may find the world of Parlen Min very interesting.   – klaragon
If you’re looking for something really fun and highly imaginative then I definitely suggest reading Tower of Parlen Min. There is so much to it that I can’t help but feel I’d like to reread it again. I also look forward to reading more of Ves’ adventures in future books.  –  PandemoniumPizza

This book was a wonderful read. It is about a young mail order bride who has a colorful history and finds it very hard to tell her husband-to-be the truth. The setting is near beautiful Calgary, Alberta, includes suspense, murder and romance. I read the book in two evenings and found it very hard to put down. It is a fast-paced and suspense-filled story and leaves you wanting more. The characters come alive and it is very easy to loose yourself in this book. I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.  Debbra Winkleman

This story has everything from romance, history, suspense, and drama all in one. The characters are vivid and colourful, with relevant issues current to the time period they live in. Mail order bride, Livy Green is stuck in a predicament when she lies to her soon-to-be husband about her shady past. I could not put this book down until the last page. Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Andrea K. Host’s STRAY is our eBook of the Day at just 99 Cents with 4.2 Stars on 49 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Andrea K Höst’s Stray, just 99 Cents on Kindle :

Part 1 of the Touchstone trilogy.

On her last day of high school, Cassandra Devlin walked out of exams and into a forest. Surrounded by the wrong sort of trees, and animals never featured in any nature documentary, Cass is only sure of one thing: alone, she will be lucky to survive.

The sprawl of abandoned blockish buildings Cass discovers offers her only more puzzles. Where are the people? What is the intoxicating mist which drifts off the buildings in the moonlight? And why does she feel like she’s being watched?

Increasingly unnerved, Cass is overjoyed at the arrival of the formidable Setari. Whisked to a world as technologically advanced as the first was primitive, where nanotech computers are grown inside people’s skulls, and few have any interest in venturing outside the enormous whitestone cities, Cass finds herself processed as a ‘stray’, a refugee displaced by the gates torn between worlds. Struggling with an unfamiliar language and culture, she must adapt to virtual classrooms, friends who can teleport, and the ingrained attitude that strays are backward and slow.

Can Cass ever find her way home? And after the people of her new world discover her unexpected value, will they be willing to let her leave?

From the reviewers:

This is a great book, that I think anyone of any age would enjoy. But especially young adults who are just exploring new genres. I know that I will be looking for the second in the series and I will be purchasing it. The author creates believable characters and sitations that make you want to continue reading even when the book is over! I was so glad when I finished it today and found out she was publishing the second in the series today also! Happy reading everyone!  –  Gina Hurteau

Great story, well written and and all out enjoyable read.  Host has pulled me into the Touchstone Trilogy and I cannot wait to read the rest. I recommend anyone looking for a unique and fascinating science fiction story to purchase Stray and enjoy the story.  –  thewriterben

Free ebooks of this calibre are what makes Amazon and Kindle so superior to Kobo and Nook. Discovering a great new (to me) author like this is like finding buried treasure. I just bought her Medair series and the writing is just as good. Can’t wait for the third book!  –  David and Tracy Maki

Best sci-fi I’ve read this year.  Overall, the book is a lot of fun and I would rate it with the likes of Piers Anthony’s Adept and Xanth Series, but less drawn out and sporting better canon material. If the author decides to write more works in this vein, she will likely find great success in the long run.  –  Andreas Rakitai Curry

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Terry Tracy’s A GREAT PLACE FOR A SEIZURE is our eBook of the Day with 4.3 Stars on 14 Reviews – Now Just 99 cents!

Here’s the set-up for Terry Tracy’s A Great Place for a Seizure, just marked down to 99 cents on Kindle:

Mischa Dunn’s family flees Chile in the wake of the 1973 coup d’etat that installs a military dictatorship. She settles comfortably in her newly adopted country, the United States, until one day, an unexplained seizure in a library signals the beginning of her life with epilepsy.
With an engaging balance of humor, insight, and sensitivity Mischa draws the reader into a vivid tale that travels across three continents over thirty years.

“A Great Place for a Seizure” is not the only, but it is the first of its kind to be identified as a novelory*.

Says the author:

[no * ve * lor * y ] noun  (1) A fusion of the terms  “novel”and “short story” to describe a series of linked stories that may stand by themselves as individual tales and/or come together as a novel, when read in sequence.  (2) A term, coined by Terry Tracy, to identify aspecies of literature that reflects the 21st century IT-induced mind-set of tight schedules, rapid communication, and the desire to have all things at once.  (3)  a gimmick.

From the reviewers:

Heartwarming, Funny, Human, Uplifting.  I thoroughly enjoyed Terry Tracy’s “A Great Place for a Seizure”. As my review title indicates it makes you feel good about people in general and those with epilepsy in particular.  –  Serrano
This book should be translated into every single language in the world and given in schools, distributed in clinics, handed around, so that people could understand conditions and disabilities…Thank you Terry. Thank you for writing this book.  May ArendBrazilianbookworm.blogspot.com

This book will make you laugh out loud, cry and even, at one stage, be left feeling a little shocked and if I’m honest the ending is incredible on so many different levels and literally made my jaw drop…you will understand when you read it.  Leanne Bell,
Magicofreading.blogspot.com

Mischa may have epilepsy but epilepsy does not have her. It is a part of her life but doesn’t even begin to define her life. And, I promise not to give it away, the ending is totally unexpected, heart wrenching and beautiful. Great job Terry Tracy!!   –  Dana

An incredible book…full of compassion and wisdom.  This is a book that is so compelling, you won’t want to put it down for an instant. (I was up until 3:00 AM.) Whether you have epilepsy or you don’t, it’s a story rich with possibilities and hope that will touch your heart and soul.  –  Phylis F. Johnson

A great place to start.  As a person with epilepsy, I have wanted to explain how my life has been interrupted by epilepsy. Ms. Tracy’s main character, Mischa, explains the disruption very well.  –  Bryan Farley

Terry Tracy, has worked as a human rights activist, journalist, and U.S. diplomat. She has epilepsy and in 2007 wrote the charter for an association of disabled employees at the U.S. State Department.

Terry Tracy was born in Virginia, but moved around Latin America in her childhood as an army brat. She is an Asian-Irish American and currently resides in London with her German husband and their Asian-Irish-German-American daughter (who tries desperately to teach her mother German).

After college Terry worked as a receptionist, then left to work for free in Honduras at an orphanage. She returned to work in a human rights organization in Washington DC, then left for Guatemala to work as a free-lance journalist. By this point, it was clear that she had developed an addiction to wanderlust. In denial, she flew across the Atlantic to Cambridge, England to get a Master’s degree in an irrelevant, impractical, but nevertheless intriguing subject: 16th century Spanish colonial judicial systems.

Upon her return to the US she joined the establishment and began working for the government. In 2007 she left the State Department to take turns as a stay-at-home parent.

Terry has had epilepsy for more than 25 years and with her extra time (between 12am and 2am) she decided to write a funny, sad, strange, and moving tale about a sarcastic epileptic.

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Theresa Meyers’ SHADOWLANDER is our eBook of the Day at just 99 Cents with 4.2 Stars, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Theresa Meyers’ Shadowlander, just 99 Cents on Kindle:

Four sisters, three rules to live by, one big problem.

O’Connell Family Rule #1: Don’t let the Fae know you see them.
O’Connell Family Rule #2: Don’t talk to the Fae.
O’Connell Family Rule #3: Never, ever follow them.

Most people only believe what they can see. Gifted with the ability to see the deep, dark fae of Shadowland, Catherine Rowan Mary O’Connell would prefer not to. When the fae abduct her friend Maya, Cate breaks the sacred O’Connell Family Rules and sets a trap for the handsome fae who haunts her every step.

Rook, High Court Advisor to the Shadow King, has been following Cate since she was sixteen. When Cate reveals herself as one of the fabled “Seers”, Rook is stunned—she is one of the few that can permanently open the gates between their worlds. If he turns her over to the Shadow King, his court will rule the human realm.

Cate knows she has precious little time to find Maya. By midnight, the glamour of Mid-Summer’s Eve will fade, leaving her trapped forever in the Shadowland, but Maya’s abductor won’t give up the woman he’s mesmerized easily.

The midnight hour is almost at hand. Cate must choose: her freedom or her destiny.

From the reviewers:

In One Word–  Steamy.  Shadowlander is a delicious little novella packed full of action, intrigue and romance. Author Theresa Meyer wasted no time delving into the heart of the story of Cate and Rook.  The fae world created in Shadowlander is dark, edgy and unique. Meyer managed to make her own mark on a world that is heavily represented in paranormal writing. The setting of this fae world was by turns vibrant and ominous, with it’s own set of rules and danger.  Andrea Thompson

The author goes straight to the point, there’s none stop action and oh my goodness, Rook! She wrote the perfect male character there. The plot goes a little fast at times but Meyers doesn’t miss details. I love all the characters including Kallus. I don’t know why I like him so much but I’m hoping he’ll be in the next books. The only thing is that I wish I had the next book in my hands now because I can’t wait to read more about the O’Connell sisters.  –  bookittyblog

With its mystical world and sexy characters, Shadowlander is a quick-paced novella that will entrap you on every page.  –  Jenababy13

The progeny of a slightly mad (NASA) scientist and a tea-drinking bibliophile who turned the family dining room into a library, Theresa Meyers learned early the value of a questioning mind, books and a good china teapot. She started her first novel in high school, eventually enrolling in a Writer’s Digest course and putting the book under the bed, writing as a freelancer for newspapers and national magazines.

It wasn’t until she joined Romance Writers of America in 1993, that she seriously began to pursue a career in fiction. In 2005 she was selected as one of eleven finalists for the American Title II contest, the American Idol of books. She has since sold several novels and novellas. She writes paranormal and historical romance, Steampunk, Young Adult books and some Middle Grade fiction.

Theresa firmly believes in love and first sight. Afterall, she’s married to the first man she ever went on a real date with (to their high school prom), who she knew was hero material when he suffered through having to let her parents drive, and her little brother sit between them in the backseat of the car (which is a whole other story. They’ve been married over 20 years.

They currently live in a Victorian house on a mini farm in the Pacific Northwest with their children, four cats, an old chestnut Arabian gelding, an energetic mini-Aussie shepherd, several rabbits, a dozen chickens and an out-of-control herb garden. When she isn’t writing, reading, watching movies (her favories include Stardust, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Lost Boys and too many others and the television series Supernatural) she’s usually having tea with her friends, volunteering at the school or outside enjoying the flowers.
