An intense, nail biting wild ride of a book! This book starts out as a hard boiled detective novel, but quickly becomes much more. I find it refreshing to view both the investigation and the crimes from the female point of view.

Here's the set-up:
In the Fall of 1955, the state of Nevada used the electric chair to execute a prisoner for the first time. It was also the last time.

Molly Blackburn, nicknamed Jane the Ripper by the Las Vegas press after killing eleven men while posing as a prostitute, was strapped to the chair without incident. The switch was flipped.

Everything after that went horribly wrong.

Since that day, a copycat Jane the Ripper has appeared almost every decade in a different city, mimicking Molly's choice in victims as well as her methods of murder. She kills eleven men then disappears, never to be found. The similarities between the bodies left behind each decade is uncanny. As if they are all the victims of the same murderer, not a copycat.

But that's impossible, of course, because Molly Blackburn is dead, her execution witnessed by a dozen people.

FBI Agent Jack Shaw, the lead investigator in the Jane the Ripper cases since the seventies, finally catches a break in 2009 when the intended fifth victim manages to turn the tables on the newest copycat . Everyone believes that the horror has finally ended with her capture. Shaw is not so sure, though, wondering if someone else will take up the mantle and kill seven more men to complete the cycle. But when no more bodies with her distinctive markings show up over the next two years, Shaw allows himself to believe that maybe he has seen the end of the Jane the Ripper murders.

As it turns out, what he thought was the end was only the beginning.

His hunt will take him across the country, and even when he thinks he's finally discovered the truth, he quickly learns that not everything is as it seems.

That not every monster is created equal.

That the nature of good and evil is not as black and white as he has always believed.

That not everything that is broken can be put back together.

That not every fractured soul can be saved.

When blood, smoke and ashes rise, no one comes out the same on the other side.

Blood, Smoke and Ashes is a 115,00 word supernatural thriller that also contains the first half of my crime/thriller novella "I Never"
One Reviewer Notes:
Some abuse is too terrible to comprehend. Some damage runs too deep to ever heal and sometimes revenge is not as sweet, as it is evil. Brad Convissar's first full length novel is a genuine diamond in the rough. Briskly paced and entertaining. Brad takes us on a journey about an angry spirit of a serial killer whose hate and vengeance is stronger than death itself. The nightmare must be stopped at all costs and a trio of unlikely heroes must find a way to execute the evil once and for all. Very solid writing from Brad Convissar. Well done.

When Detrick, a seven-year-old German boy, crashes and destroys his brand new bicycle in Berlin. He takes an unusual way home, through the Jewish sector of town. It is here that he meets Jacob Abdenstern, a Jewish bicycle repairman who offers to help the little boy, and between them relationship flourishes that will alter both of their lives forever. Ten years later... Detrick is now seventeen, and working in Jacob's bicycle shop. The stars align as Detrick sees Jacob's fifteen-year-old daughter Leah in a new light. The attraction between the two is undeniable, and they find themselves falling in love, just as Hitler is appointed chancellor of Germany. The heart-wrenching novel "All My Love Detrick" intertwines the lives of the lovers and their families as they try to survive in a world gone mad, under the reign of Hitler and his Third Reich. If you liked "Titanic," you'll love "All My Love, Detrick."
One Reviewer Notes:
This is a beautifully written book about a beautiful subject in an ugly and monstrous world. It is like orchids growing in fifth. In short it is about friendship and love in the midst of the third Reich. Ms. Kagen is an unbelievably talented writer. She has exceeded her own very high standards. You will be stuck in this book until the end and you will be unhappy that it ended. This is an interesting and intriguing look at possibly the worst evil in modern times. The writer has generated characters that even at there worst are so well defined you feel that this is a true story. If you lost family in the holocaust this is a read that is liberating. This is a writer we will be taking about. This is a story that we will be talking about. So do not be left out get this book and start reading now.

Of course as we all know the way to spark a child's curiosity is to tell them they are forbidden to do or see a particular thing. One afternoon when my mother was out, I raced down stairs. Nobody was around so I opened the suitcase. Inside I found pictures and letters in a foreign language. Later that night I asked my mother what all of it meant. She told me that she was trying to protect me by keeping the suitcase out of my reach, but since I'd found it I might as well know that she and my father both lost their entire extended families in the Holocaust. So began my obsession with the Nazi occupation of Eastern Europe. Being that my father was Romany and my mother was Jewish, I had many aspects to research and much to learn. Finally, many years later...I wrote my first novel. It is set in this period. It comes to you, along with all of my work, from my heart, with love and hopes that someday there will be understanding and tolerance among all peoples. If you want to know where our country is headed and why and what can be done about it, then this is the book for you to read. It was written based on first hand experience and knowledge I have acquired working as an Economic Development practitioner engaged in rebuilding and restoring local economies to competitive growth with a strong and vibrant business climate. Many folks believe we need a paradigm shift as a nation but they also believe the task is just to daunting to pull it off. This book points out that the change is as much a mindset or consciousness of the American people as it is about drastic yet not draconian changes to our economic, political and international policies that will have positive and profound impact on our society without turning into a strong central government oriented nanny state republic. The change begins with each of us taking responsibility for our actions and holding those in leadership accountable for theirs. This is a call to arms for a grassroots movement to take back our country from special interest driven politics and restore our competitiveness as the leader of the global economy.
One Reviewer Notes:
The Next America is a must read for any Economic Developer looking to get ahead of the curve. I continuously find Don's insight into policy, development and our economic future to be both thought provoking and insightful. His unique approach adds meaningful analysis and forecasting to market knowledge in a method that is easy to read and apply. I have been a fan of Don's work for years and this book is his best yet!

Here's the set-up:
Join Hyden Hawk Skyler, and some great new friends, on an adventurous quest, over land and sea, to find the Silver Skull of Zorellin.

Fight with Mikahl, Ironspike, and fierce King Jarrek as they try to free the enslaved people of Wildermont from King Ra'Gren and his Dakaneese Overlords.

Patrol the skies with Shaella, and her new black dragon, Vrot. With her father's spell books, and the Priests of Kraw, she decides to aid King Ra'Gren, while scheming to free her lover, Gerard, from the hellish Nethers.
One Reviewer Notes:
Brilliant! That's the only way I can describe the second novel in the Wardstone Trilogy. Once again we are thrown into extreme action and adventure alongside the favorite characters of Hyden Hawk and Mikahl. A lot of new characters are introduced in this novel but M.R. Mathias has an awesome way of getting you to connect with them and see things through their eyes. While reading this book I was literally on the edge of my seat. So many things kept going right then wrong and it definitely kept me guessing until the end. As usual some of the deaths and injuries were pretty gruesome but I think the detail helps you to be more immersed in the novel. I really enjoyed this novel and I love the fact that the author comes to a satisfying conclusion but leaves a slight mystery at the end to continue in the next book.

Tom was concentrating so hard on the papers in front of him that he was unaware of anything else. Raising his hand, the intruder hit a stack of books sitting on a side table, sending them crashing to the floor. Tom spun around with a look of shock on his face as he recognized the person swinging a sharp object toward him. Tom raised his hands to protect himself but he wasn’t quick enough.

Here's the set-up:
The Barber's Conundrum and Other Stories is more than just a collection of thirty-seven short literary humor pieces and humorous jokes that will make you laugh. It provides a treasure trove of tips and invaluable advice to help you navigate safely through marriage and relationships, raising kids and to finally understand the more peculiar aspects of day to day living that up until now, had been tossed into a big heap as just another one of God's mysteries.

For example, did you ever wonder why weather reporters continue to stand in the middle of raging hurricanes to tell us what hurricanes are like when everybody else already knows what hurricanes are like? Did you ever wonder why people stop their cars in the middle of the street to let geese walk past even though geese have been flying long before Cro- Magnon Man was in knee pants? Did you ever think that if aliens do exist on our planet, most of them work in customer service? They do!

All of that, and more is in the book, so what do you say? At $8.99, you're guaranteed to receive at least $10.50 worth of terrific advice and life extending laughter, which as we know is the best medicine, and there's never a co-pay with laughter so you're up well over $20 already and this is only the back cover. Think of the possibilities to save when you read the whole thing.
One Reviewer Notes:
Thanks to John Hartnett for sharing his unique and entertaining observations on the otherwise ordinary events of love, life, community, family and the world around him. In the Barber's Conundrum he has delivered a wry, witty, insightful, and delightful collection of stories. His writing is perfectly seasoned with an intelligent yet seemingly effortless humor, which quite often had me laughing out loud. John's observations may be from the cheap seats, but they are rich with humor of the finest kind. John's writing style is warm, giving, forgiving, infectious, happy and clever. More than anything else, it's really funny.
