An Excellent Read of Non-stop Action”

Here’s the set-up:

On February 18, 1952, a five-hundred-foot oil tanker named the Pendleton snapped in half as it battled sixty-foot seas in a winter storm off Cape Cod. The rescue of the Pendleton ranks as one of the most heroic events in the history of the United States Coast Guard. That much is true.

What the Reviewers Say

In a work of fiction, A Single Deadly Truth tells that another ship sank that same night, just a few miles from where the Pendleton went down, and the ship’s sole survivor remained committed to taking the story, and the ship’s location, to his grave. Until now.

A Single Deadly Truth features a thirty-five year old college professor and part-time harbormaster named Steve Decatur who spends his summers living aboard an old wooden sailboat in the town of Harbor Point, Massachusetts. When Decatur’s friend, a lobsterman and diver named Chris Blanchard, is found dead off Cape Cod, Decatur is called on to retrieve the man’s boat. Along the way, there’s growing evidence that Blanchard’s death was a murder, not an accident.

To the end, Decatur remains persistent in uncovering the truth and in doing so he uncovers a much larger crime.

“Sunken treasure, modern day pirates and and boats, what more could you ask for in a thriller. It’s obvious that John Urban knows boats and the area he writes about. This is a fast moving nautical thriller and I for one enjoyed it. Keep ’em coming, John.”
Mike Jastrzebski

“A Single Deadly Truth is fast paced and engaging from the first introduction to the final explosion. Urban creates a thrilling world of danger and discovery. His descriptions of the waters in and around Buzzard’s Bay and Cape Cod will ring true to anyone who’s been there. Reading them transports you to a boat at Steve Decatur’s side! Looking forward to more like this and the next one in the series.”
–Ann Cavanaugh

“Set on the New England coast, “Single Deadly” is a fast read that blends sunken treasure, deep-sea diving, fast boats and a cast of characters that run from bad guys to real bad guys to really really bad guys. (And that doesn’t even count the shark.) I don’t know anything about sailing and still found this to be a great read. Those who are sailors would probably find it even better. Consider me a fan.”
–F. Cook

About the Author

Like his protagonist, John Urban has worked as a college professor and he sails the waters of Southern New England on an old wooden sailboat that he restored. He is a regular contributor to the blog Write On The Water, and his short stories have appeared in the anthologies Seasmoke and Deadfall.

The ocean was his desired destination from an early age. As a boy living a landlocked life in Western Massachusetts, nights were dedicated to reading about boats and watching Flipper and weekends were spent boating and fishing, April-to-October, on Long Island Sound. Thoughts of a career at sea ended early after a stint at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, but the circle of life has come around some years later in the form of the fictional world of Steve Decatur. Urban lives just outside Boston and spends his summers near the waters edge of Buzzards Bay and Rhode Island Sound. A Single Deadly Truth, published on Amazon Kindle, is Urban’s debut novel. As second Steve Decatur mystery is due out in 2011. For more information: www.johnmurban.com

Here’s the set-up:

What happens when you want to do the will of God but are cursed for all eternity?

What the Reviewers Say

Hungary, 1640. A village priest, enamored with his God and loyal to his sheep, awakens to find the village on fire. Searching for survivors, he is confronted by a dark creature with sharp teeth and red eyes. With the stab of the demon’s fangs, the priest is transformed from a servant of good to an unwilling agent of evil.

Present day. Four centuries pass, and Dr. Mark Corescu, that same village priest no longer recalls his origins. Corescu uses his position in the medical community to maintain a mortal façade as he pursues his true calling. Corescu seeks out evil men and women in a ritual he has dubbed the Judging. He condemns and kills them, one a night, feeding his lust on their blood. He feels neither guilt nor remorse. He believes he is serving a Higher Purpose.

Artist and equestrian hobbyist Hope Brannen falls for the doctor at first sight. He feels the same, believing that she has been sent by God to aid him in his divine calling. Hope knows deep down he is not an agent of God but rather a real-life vampire. She turns to her seminary-going pal Tony Agricola for advice.

As the story’s only truly righteous character, Tony recognizes immediately that the doctor has incorrectly discerned the will of God. He agrees to speak to him about the matter, discovering that the doctor has suppressed his past. Slowly the doctor is reminded of his days as a humble village priest, as well as the time he spent in the clutches of the darkest creature imaginable. Steering the vampire down memory lane is difficult and risky but Tony does his best to correct the doctor’s faulty theology. At the same time Corescu’s perfect world is falling apart.

Persevering through dangerous and perilous encounters with the vampire’s immortal contemporaries, Tony shows the vampire the error of his ways. But just because his eyes are opened does not necessarily mean that his ways are easily changed.

“Kudos to author Ellen C. Maze for a rich, fully developed, and uniquely delivered storyline, prompting one’s mind to pause and consider important aspects of life.”
–Teric Darken, Bestselling author of K-I-L-L FM 100 Music to Die For

“Fabulously frightening! Insanely imaginative!… Ellen Maze delivers an intriguing plot with captivating characters and an extremely natural writing style… I give The Judging a recommendation of Excellent and will certainly look forward to reading the next installment in the Corescu Chronicles, Damascus Road, as well as Ellen’s earlier work.”
–Rev. Steve Wilson

This book gives us “self-reflection and a sense of hope within the reader, and a call to re-examine the way one views the judging of others and what God really asks us to do in the face of evil in the world.”

–Krisi Keley, Author of On the Soul of a Vampire

About the Author

Ellen has been writing since she could form sentences. Her earliest works are tucked away safely in her mother’s files, but now, her current work is published for the world to see. Her subjects range from vampires to angels to demonic powers in dark places; but her goal is to entertain the reader while sending a message of redemption that is only apparent between the lines. Pitching faith and bloodlust into a battle to the death, or oftentimes, to the life; Ellen always finds a way to balance the two in a fascinating and intriguing way.

Ellen graduated cum laude from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She has been a licensed non-denominational minister and still teaches Scripture to teens and adults. She has also been a professional artist, specializing in custom pet portraits and equine art.

Ellen’s faith plays an important role in her life and although her novels are written for all people, they are often carried in Christian Markets. She lives in Historic Montgomery, Alabama with her husband, daughter, four cats and one spoiled dog.

An apocalyptic paranormal romance. The sequel to Hero Material (formerly Space Junque).

Reviewer B. Tackitt says: “I was enthralled.”

Her fate was to hold the world together. His destiny was to tear it apart.

As a child, Durga was chosen by the goddess to save the world from sterility and extinction. Now her eighteenth birthday approaches, and Durga must take her place among the chalices, women blessed by the goddess with fertility to ensure more souls for the universe. Durga’s mission does not include love … but Khai, the scion of Luxor, is unlike any man she’s ever met.

Char Meadowlark once played a role in the goddess’s plans. Now her lover, Jake Ardri, heads an emerging city-state whose enemies covet everything Jake has built. As Jake navigates the uneasy waters of political intrigue, his very existence is threatened. To save him, Char must share him with a chalice … one trained to take him to the heights of sexual ecstasy.

In flagrante apocalypto: When the veil drops between life and oblivion, only love can save them from the abyss.

“After reading Space Junque by Ms. Rigel I have been eagerly awaiting more of the story. Spiderwork delivers! I enjoyed reading about how the new world’s customs, policies, and politics are formed. It’s interesting to be “in” so to speak, on planet building.

About the Author

LK Rigel lives in California with her cat, Coleridge. She wrote songs for the 90’s band The Elements, scored the independent science fantasy karate movie Lucid Dreams, and was a reporter for the Sacramento Rock ‘N Roll News. Rigel received her BA in humanities from CSU, Sacramento. Her work has appeared in Literary Mama and Tattoo Highway. Her short story “Slurp” will appear in Anne Frasier’s 2011 Halloween anthology published by Nodin Press. Her novel Space Junque was edited by USA Today bestselling author Anne Frasier/Theresa Weir.

Ms. Rigel did a great job following up with the characters of SJ, and though I understand it is the end of the story for some of them, I am interested in reading someday how the world continues to progress. Especially Durga, I’d love to know how the goddess continues to deal with her.”

–Judith L. Pearson, author of Wolves at the Door and Belly of the Beast

–Stephen Carpenter, author of Killer

About the Author

Author Gary Ponzo began his writing career over a decade ago by writing short stories. He quickly discovered a knack for the short form. In just five years he’d published seven short stories in various publications, two of which were nominated for the very prestigious Pushcart Prize.

His first novel, A Touch of Deceit, took five years to write and one to pick clean. The story was born from his childhood experiences working in his father’s candy store in Brooklyn, NY. His father was Sicilian and became friendly with some local members of a different kind of Sicilian family. Since Gary was just fifteen at the time, these family members would make sure he was protected whenever he would work late at night by himself. He soon discovered a side to the mafia not many people knew. It was these relationships which caused him to write about Sicilian FBI agent, Nick Bracco, who recruits his mafia cousin to chase down the world’s most feared terrorist.

A Touch of Deceit went on to win the 2009 Southwest Writers Novel Contest, Thriller category. He is working on the sequel to the novel as well as continuing to publish his short stories. Gary currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Jennifer and two children, Jessica and Kyle.

Here’s the set-up:
After witnessing a professional hit, Seattle architect Pamela Hayes has testified in court against the hit man. Unfortunately, a mistrial is declared and the hit man is released on bail while awaiting a new trial. He intends to silence the sole witness to murder—Pam—before that new trial begins. She needs to hide, and she runs as far as she can: to steamy Key West., Florida.

What RT Book Reviews Says

Jonas Brenner, a Key West bar owner and easy-going slacker, is about to lose custody of his orphaned five-year-old niece—unless he can convince the courts that he’s a responsible father. What he needs is a prim and proper wife who will create the illusion that Lizard, as his niece likes to be called, is being raised in a stable environment.

What Pam needs is a new identity. Joe offers her a deal: if she marries him and takes his name, no Pacific Northwest hit man is going to find her. In return, she can pose as Joe’s respectable wife, dutifully caring for the rambunctious, feather-wearing Lizard.

Of course, this will be a marriage in name only. No sex. No emotions. No love. Which, once Pam and Joe move in together and the sparks begin to fly, is easier said than done.

CRY UNCLE was originally published by Harlequin Books.

“When a classy architect joins in a marriage of convenience with a slightly scruffy bartender to hide from a hit man out to kill her, frustration runs high, making both want to CRY UNCLE and get on with the loving. Judith Arnold is a perennial favorite whose keen wit and way with mystery always hits the mark.”

Very Real Fantasy”

Here’s the set-up:

The first of five novels in the Fallen Angels saga:

My name is Darcy Anderson, and I am cursed with a dark power: Whenever my life is in danger, something inside me summons elemental fire to protect me. I cannot control this.

One night, I was attacked in my home. The fire … it raged out of control. I survived the inferno, but my house burned to the ground – with my parents inside.

I was at a loss to explain to the courts what happened, and so they sent me to prison for ten years for manslaughter.

Now I’m out on parole, and all I want is to return to my home town and rebuild my life; but the man who attacked me is back to finish the job he started.

I can sense the power in me growing. If I can’t control it, it will control me and destroy everything – and everyone – I love.

BONUS MATERIAL:
Included is an excerpt of “The Gods of Dream” by fantasy author Daniel Arenson

What the Reviewers Say
“If you’re looking for a down-to-earth, realistic story of what could happen to someone with the inexplicable ability to call up fire (but not the ability to control it), this is a good read.”
–Tammi Rapp

“Valmore Daniels has written a complex and well-rounded character in Darcy Anderson, a woman who can set fire to things telepathically. The book opens with her leaving prison after doing 10 years for killing her parents in a fire which she accidentally started. The rest of the book focuses on Darcy coming to terms not only with what she did and her strange “affliction” but also the trials and tribulations of returning to her hometown where she’s essentially an outcast… I highly recommend this book. The Fallen Angels series is going to be terrific if this first book is any indication.”
–C J Archer

“This could be any family, yours, mine or a family down the street. Their history, their conflicts, their feelings, wants and needs are very real. One of the things that draw me to the urban fantasy genre is both having a human story along with fantastic elements, and I felt this story did that for me. I’m really looking forward to the next four books.”
–Susan S
