Here’s the set-up:

Project Moses is a high-tech, bioterrorism thriller in the Grisham mode with romance, suspense and humor.

Enzo Lee, 37, a burned out reporter, has forsaken investigative reporting on the East Coast to churn out feature fluff in San Francisco. He likes his North Beach apartment, steps away from his Chinatown roots. Running, tai chi, great food, women who are attracted to his exotic looks. Life is good.

Then, Lee’s comfortable life is shaken when he is ordered to cover the unexplained deaths of a local judge and prosecutor. Intrigued by the connection, and the judge’s attractive niece, Sarah Armstrong,  Lee begins to uncover a bioterrorism scandal whose perpetrators – including government officials and Silicon Valley titans – will kill to conceal.

When Lee and Sarah become targets, the question becomes whether the pair can evade their hunters and piece together the story before their time runs out. Project Moses is set in San Francisco, New York and Silicon Valley. By a Pulitzer Prize-winnng author.

Here’s the set-up:

May I pray for you? Five words that would forever change my life. No, I am neither a priest nor rabbi, but I was the recipient of those words from a doctor several years ago when being told that I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and had a small chance of survival, and included the phrase as the opening passage in my book, A Call to Faith. Although surviving cancer is a recurrent theme, it is weaved throughout the text in the genre of inspirational and religious bodies of work, similar in vein to The Shack or 90 Minutes in Heaven. The struggles are real and give expression to both grief and hope. The events encountered in the story are true. The story is my story and expressed from a third person point of view.

The story is set in Charleston and finds its characters meandering throughout the Lowcountry. Young and handsome, beautiful wife and children, and a small fortune before the age of thirty. He had it all – or did he? Skip Sibley (main character) never knew his marine aviator father who died in a plane crash when he was young. Struck with the tragedy of a younger sister who committed suicide in college and who continued to pay apparitional visits to Skip in times of need. Encounters with God at just the appropriate time when giving up on life was more than a thought. But his toughest battles may still lie ahead of him; finding his faith in God through cancer and divorce.

This faith-based work takes its readers on a tour of the South from churches to hospitals. Southern flavor is established as the Sibley family seeks help from Gullah native Ms. Janie, who cares for Skip and the children during their time of need. The story attempts to show resilience in the face of adversity that comes into each of our lives, and that only through finding a relationship with God can we ensure that life will continue beyond death. It can touch the hearts of those who have lived or visited the Lowcountry, or who have lost loved ones to cancer, suicide or accidental death.

In the third book in this series, US Grant and his wife visit Cincinnati, just down the road from Georgetown and Bethel. At a gala political function, Grant thinks that he sees an apparition. When the ghost disappears and a reporter stumbles on the scene, Grant knows that he has to solve the mystery of the ghost and why it would appear to him. Taking on the issues of 19th century spiritualism and the recently freed slave, this book looks at the ways the nation changed in the months following the end of the Civil War.

The biblical indictment to Eve that states: ‘Your desire shall be for your husband . . .’ rings all too true for Goldie Benelak, a woman that stalks her estranged husband, only to become embroiled within the machinations of the CIA in its use of her as an unwitting assassin in the killing of her love rival.

‘The Watchers’ is a tale of social mores and changing identities that should initiate the reader into the inner teachings of the cabala. It is also a book that delves in part into the realm of non-fiction with regards to US covert operations: the program in mind control, the war on terror and the special virus program.

Broken Angels (Eve of Light)

by Harambee Grey-Sun

Here’s the set-up:

Still grieving years after the butchery of his pregnant mother and kidnapping of his premature brother, Robert Goldner was just seventeen when he contracted the White Fire Virus. He prayed for the excruciating death most victims experience shortly after acquiring the STD. Instead he was cursed to live on, slowly dying, ridden with billions of parasites, and possessing a bizarre but limited ability to manipulate photons, the basic units of light.

At age twenty, Robert still considers himself damned and confused, not the least because more and more surviving virus-carriers are calling themselves “angels”— God-blessed beings of light—his licentious partner Darryl Ridley being a prime example. But Robert attempts to shove the irritating mystery of it all to the gutters of his mind as he focuses on his mission as a Watcher agent, locating and recovering missing children in the Washington, D.C. area.

When Robert and Darryl receive a hot tip on the location of a virus-infected girl who disappeared shortly after attempting to massacre half her high school, they prepare to chalk up another success. But when they instead find the girl’s best friend from school, beaten nearly to death, they become entwined in a conspiracy involving magick, bizarre creatures, fantastic realms beyond space and time, and even the death of God.

Can two dying angels do anything to prevent the Apocalypse?

“Broken Angels” is a sci-fi, fantasy thriller that reads like a mix of Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” and the television show “Fringe.”

A Bargain Hunter’s Guide to saving and making money with gold and silver objects, like jewelry.

Which of these do you want?
– to have extra money to pay your bills?
– to find spectacular gifts for your loved ones at ridiculously low prices?
– to have lots of beautiful head turning jewelry to wear?
– to invest in precious metals for less than the current spot price?
– to have extra money to take that vacation you’ve been dreaming of?
– to protect yourself or your family’s finances in the event of a serious crisis?
– to know more about buying and selling precious metals? So you aren’t ripped off.
– to know how you are missing deals on precious metals in plain sight?
– to make your own decisions and be your own boss?

If you have a want or need associated with any of the above questions, then this book might be your answer. Imagine your excitement, when you notice a beautiful thick gold colored necklace lying on a table at an estate sale. You quickly pick it up. It’s heavy and looks like gold. However, the only mark on it doesn’t indicate gold, so you put it down. Luckily you read this book and remember the lesson on marks, and quickly pick it up again. Jackpot! You bought an 18 K gold necklace for $2; it’s worth $246 for the gold content value. That’s a $244 profit/savings in less than 5 minutes. Would this put a big smile on your face? This is one of my true stories; check out picture 53 to see it.

Make money, save money and invest in precious metals:
Is it possible to make money finding gold and silver in your spare time? The answer is yes. If I sold all the items I purchased, I’d average $24-$73 per hour. I’ve been doing this and now it’s your turn. I want you to capitalize on the opportunities all around you; trust me they’re out there.

In addition to making money, I wanted to invest in precious metals without affecting my family’s budget. I couldn’t imagine taking $1,600 from my monthly income to buy one gold coin, but I could take $2 to buy gold jewelry. Does this sound familiar; do you have the same thoughts? Take this educational journey with me and reap your rewards.

Capitalizing on these amazing deals not only allows me to make money and invest in precious metals, but I’m able to save money buying gifts for my family, friends and myself. If I spend $2 on a gold necklace and pendant set that retails for $100, I saved myself $98. Now that’s the smart way to keep up with the Joneses. Or if I give it away as a gift, no one will know I only spent $2; they’ll think I spent $100. Read this book and you could save substantial amounts of money too.

El Dorado Shuffle

Here’s the set-up:

Don’t mess with Mac McKnight, even if you are the president of a South American republic. Mac has secretly recorded President Charlie Dávilos frolicking at a brothel. He has managed to get the video recording onto national television. Dávilos will be the second president he has brought down.

Mac gets angry. Really angry. Foolishly angry. His own son is a drug addict, so he does not like it when important people use their position as a way into the cocaine trade.

What makes Mac tick? Guilt. Anger. Reckless courage. Love. Alcohol. He will assail the evil-doers even if it means tearing down his own world.

“El Dorado Shuffle” is a full-length novel propelled by hair-raising conflict, outrageous behavior and violence. Nevertheless, the entire narrative is coloured by a rich and self-mocking humor, making it a unique and unforgettable reading experience. Fans of Jonathan Franzen, David Foster Wallace and Michael Chabon will delight in Morgan Nyberg’s venture into the colour, spice, danger and black laughter of Latin America.

Although raised by single metahuman parents, Stephanie, Rael, and Lance weren’t prepared for the sudden and shocking event that thrust them into a night of upheaval as they cope with their metamorphosis into superhumans. The meteor shower that altered the heroes also mutated many others in Metrocity, causing a scene of chaos at Iron Cross General Hospital as Lance and Stephanie are captured by law enforcement, and Rael must free them.

The friends join the Homeland Extraordinary Response Organization (H.E.R.O.), and seek to stop a mutant named Shrinker as she gathers new supers to build an army of bloodthirsty mutants in her plan to cause anarchy. Her evil squad kidnaps normal humans to feed those mutants, and it becomes a race against time to find the anarchists before they murder the people.

The Texicans

by Jinx Schwartz

4.7 stars – 3 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

NOT another story about Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, Sam Houston and the boys.

Decades before Crockett, Bowie or Houston even set foot in Texas, Frederick Stockman was already there. Author Jinx Schwartz, a ninth-generation Texan, has delved deep into her ancestral roots to create this moving story of the Frederick Stockman familys’ courageous determination to make Texas their home during the turbulent period between 1806 and 1836.
The Texicans was inspired by a Texas history book calling her ancestral clan a “congenial society for evil”–rogues “skilled in many forms of villainy” for their role in the tumultuous years of first Spanish, the Mexican rule.
Frederick Stockman and his family immigrate to Spanish Texas in 1806 to ranch, but soon find themselves inexorably drawn into the bitter conflict between Mexico and Spain. They join forces with a dashing young Spanish deserter, Miguel Gonzales, in his successful campaign to liberate Mexico and Texas from Spanish rule. Their ties are further cemented when Gonzales marries into the family.
As Heroes of Mexico, the Texicans–staunch supporters of Mexican rule for Texas–find themselves vilified by North American settlers illegally flocking across the unprotected border. These newcomers, calling themselves Texians, view Mexico, Mexicans and Texicans as the enemy. Targets of bigotry, the Texicans themselves are torn along cultural lines as their hero-turned-despot, General Santa Anna, propels them towards a deadly showdown.

Here’s the set-up:
Lady, an Irish Setter puppy, is leading a simple life on a farm in Ohio during the 1940’s. Lady’s biggest desire is to become an expert hunting dog like her mother. She has no idea that her life is going to take her down a path where she will find herself in the middle of incredibly dangerous situations, including a world war. On several occasions, Lady will have to find the courage to risk her life in order to save someone she loves. The loyalty and bravery that Lady shows throughout her lifetime illustrate what it truly means to have the heart of a hero.
