Here’s the set-up:

:: Over 75,000 copies of Breaking TWIG downloaded on Kindles ::

WARNING:  According to Breaking TWIG’s Kindle readers, you may not be able to put this book down!

Set in rural Georgia in the 1960s, BREAKING TWIG is a coming-of-age novel about Becky (Twig) Cooper, a young woman trying to survive the physical and emotional abuse of her mother, Helen, a beautiful, calculating woman who can, with a mere look, send the meanest cur in Sugardale, Georgia running for its life.

Not even Twig’s vivid imagination, keen wit, and dark sense of humor is enough to help her survive the escalating assaults of Helen and a new stepbrother, but help comes from an unexpected source–Frank, her stepfather. Sometimes, having one person who loves and believes in you is all a girl needs to keep hope alive.

Often raw and irreverent and sprinkled with all the Southern flavoring found in a good bowl of chicken and dumplings, BREAKING TWIG, is about finding love where we least expect it, destroying lives with easy lies, and realizing each of us determine our own truth.

The Arkaelyon Chronicles Vol 1.
(Contains both Druid’s Bane & Maig’s Hand)Druid’s Bane (Book 1)   (13 reviews  4.6 /5)The Illandian Spring Tournament is about to reach its crescendo, and with the king’s only daughter, Danielle de Brie, and her twin brother, Kane, preparing to face each other in the tourney ring for the deciding match the citizens and nobles of Arkaelyon’s capital city are in a fever of excited speculation.Determined to free herself from the fear her twin brother has always provoked in her and to show the world that men such as Kane de Brie can be defeated, Danielle has every intention of making her brother’s title her own.But even as the two royals climb the stairs to Illandia’s famous dueling ring, Danielle has no idea that a rescind coven of druids are about to change her world forever or that the deep animosity between Kane and her is fated to plunge the realm into civil war.

A dream the night before is the only hint she has of the dangerous manipulation that is stirring in the shadows of her father’s realm. But the frightful vision is so diabolical that she writes it off as likely the product of her fatigue after a hard fought week of competition and the fact she is about to face her greatest fear in the tourney ring.

But when she makes passing mention of the dream to the Lord Protector, Father Joseph’s response and the secrets he and a priestly order protect are destined to set her on a desperate and perilous path to prevent the fulfilment of a prophecy that if realised will not only see to the destruction of her father’s kingdom and every land on the continent-but herald the rise of an ancient and tyrannical order of Larniusian Druids who have waited centuries to restore the authority of the dark goddess across the face of the world.

***

Maig’s Hand (Book 2)   (4 reviews  5/5)

With his world in ruins, Kane must either run and hope monastic and royal assassins do not find him, or accept the Archbishop’s offer and embrace high treason.

While the opportunity to replace his father as Arkaelyon’s king and bring bloody revenge down on his sister’s head is appealing–more than appealing, the prospect of being a pawn in a thousand year old struggle between Orthodox Goddians and Larniusian druids disturbs his atheist sensibilities, and more so when he learns the price he must pay to be Maig’s Hand.

Meanwhile, Danielle’s search to find the truth of her dream and the disturbing prophecy it contains continues with her usual gusto. However, the truth she finds could cost her James’ love, destroy her parent’s reputation and rob Eden of his birthright. More still, her persistence will see the streets of Amthenium run red with blood and force her into a deadly showdown that will change her life and the lives of those she holds dearest forever.

Here’s the set-up:

First in the award-winning Bo Bradley mystery series, CHILD OF SILENCE introduces the much-loved sleuth whose big heart and quirky wit help her deal with both an impossible job and a psychiatric disorder her Irish grandmother called “the sight.” An amateur artist, Bo would rather be painting, but when a child is in danger she risks everything, even her life.

Thirty miles east of San Diego, in the dusty heart of the California high desert, lies the Barona Ranch Indian Reservation. This is desolate country, marked by lone pines, winding canyons, and granite hills. It is here that the boy was found, tied to a mattress in an abandoned mountain shack.

The case is assigned to Bo Bradley, a child abuse investigator with San Diego’s juvenile court system. It is meaningful job, and it pays for Bo’s few indulgences, like her books on Indian lore and the huge canvasses for her paintings, based on ancient Native American rock drawings.

Bo takes her profession seriously, and she abides by its cardinal rule; never get involved with the child-victim. This has not always been easy for a sensitive woman whose emotions ride perilously close to the surface. Now, with this four-year-old boy, it proves impossible.

He is a non-Indian who calls himself Weppo, and he has been classified as mentally impaired, making him a high risk for abuse. But something in Weppo’s intense gleaming gaze strikes a deep chord in Bo. She knows that look. In the eyes of her late, deaf sister, she has seen it before. Weppo is not at all impaired; he is deaf.

Inspired by this new knowledge, Bo sets out to interview the Paiute mystic, the woman they call “Seize the Dark,” who found the boy. Driving along pine scented trails into the Indian country she so loves, Bo feels as if a strange force is leading her onward, an intuition that builds when she meets “Seize the Dark” and the old crone confides that “spirits” led her to Weppo; “I saw the boy with blood on his mouth.”

After visiting the shack, Bo wonders, had the deaf child been tied up because there was no other way of saying “Stay here. I’ll be back”? An inner voice tells her as much. And she knows she must listen, for it also tells her that Weppo is in great danger.

A poisoned-tipped bullet soon proves the point–as two thugs break into the hospital and attempt to murder the boy. Pushed beyond the point of no return and into a dangerous manic state, Bo bends the rules and swings into action.
Risking personal involvement and professional ruin at the hands of her by-the-book supervisor, she vows to unearth the truth surrounding this child of silence. It is a mission that will take her from the ancient sands of the California desert to the gilded mansions of Houston’s political set and back, as Bo Bradley mounts a desperate struggle to save Weppo–and herself–from certain death.

Here’s the set-up:

May I pray for you? Five words that would forever change my life. No, I am neither a priest nor rabbi, but I was the recipient of those words from a doctor several years ago when being told that I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and had a small chance of survival, and included the phrase as the opening passage in my book, A Call to Faith. Although surviving cancer is a recurrent theme, it is weaved throughout the text in the genre of inspirational and religious bodies of work, similar in vein to The Shack or 90 Minutes in Heaven. The struggles are real and give expression to both grief and hope. The events encountered in the story are true. The story is my story and expressed from a third person point of view.

The story is set in Charleston and finds its characters meandering throughout the Lowcountry. Young and handsome, beautiful wife and children, and a small fortune before the age of thirty. He had it all – or did he? Skip Sibley (main character) never knew his marine aviator father who died in a plane crash when he was young. Struck with the tragedy of a younger sister who committed suicide in college and who continued to pay apparitional visits to Skip in times of need. Encounters with God at just the appropriate time when giving up on life was more than a thought. But his toughest battles may still lie ahead of him; finding his faith in God through cancer and divorce.

This faith-based work takes its readers on a tour of the South from churches to hospitals. Southern flavor is established as the Sibley family seeks help from Gullah native Ms. Janie, who cares for Skip and the children during their time of need. The story attempts to show resilience in the face of adversity that comes into each of our lives, and that only through finding a relationship with God can we ensure that life will continue beyond death. It can touch the hearts of those who have lived or visited the Lowcountry, or who have lost loved ones to cancer, suicide or accidental death.

21.12.2012: The Apocalypse Decryption

by Fausto Adames Ruiz (Fausto Adams)

Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:
Maybe the Earth has thousands of years left, or only a few months. That´s what are saying the tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes, volcanoes, planetary magnetic shift, tsunamis and anything else that will eventually lead to a change in the polarity of the Earth’s magnetic grid, and finally a geological transformation of the poles. But the Apocalypse Theory of the End of the Earth in 21.12.2012 faces another serious enigma worthy to decipher, and is that for its theorists many of the evidence is not scientific, but rather confessions of aliens witnesses or as they like to call “friends of the stars”and are encoded in the messages transmitted through the formations captured in the famous” Crop Circles”, who keep a very close relationship with the symbols of “Hunab Ku”. Interestingly, many astronomers confirmed that in December 21, 2012 will happen an accurate alignment between Earth, the Sun and the Galactic Ecuador. If humans depart aside prejudices and belief systems, everybody can see clearly that something extraordinary is happening around the Earth. The Matrix of the planet is changing due to endogenous or exogenous factors. On one hand, man is altering the ecosystem at an alarming rate, and on the other side Earth is influenced by new energies from the Galactic Center. The Earth will continue experiencing severe climate and geological effects such as earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and volcanic activity, with increased frequency and intensity. When the Earth enters the densest portion of the galactic plane and feels its full gravitational effects, the planet could suffer unprecedented waves of “solar flares”, unexpected meteor showers and unfortunately geographical Pole Shift. No living being knows for sure what will happen in the coming months, especially in the specific date of 12.-21-2012, since the future is yet to occur. Try to approach this great mystery of 2012 with an open mind, however, critical, open to possible scenarios, but requiring evidence. This is not the “End of the World” that is being predicted in the media, a guarantee of conviction, of tumultuous change, and a future full of turmoil that is about to happen. Some prophets are using the true and tested formula of fear to make money, and it makes sense that this fear exists, and that events could be very dire, but still has to address this point in history, balanced and observation. Nobody knows what will happen on December 21, 2012. Will be the Doomsday or the Omega Point, or both, or neither? One thing is certain. Now is a time of radical change, and both problems and innovations lead to a novel situation for a planet of 7 billion people. The biosphere is more decimated than ever. The Sun is more active than in recent times, and can cause some major geological changes. Technology has grown dramatically in an exponential increase, and is about to give birth to a singularity. Whatever will happen, the prophets are sure will be a journey that the human race will never forget!
