Here’s the set-up:
An Action Misadventure Thriller from The Last Frontier: In Alaska, you can see yourself scream…

“Bass’ tale…exudes freshness, courtesy of a memorable snowy backdrop and indelible characters.”
— Kirkus Reviews

“…an exciting, fast-paced novel…Featuring well drawn characters…”
— The BookLife Prize in Fiction

People ask me where I get the ideas for my books. In this case, I recall reading about Alaska bush pilots for fun. I must have watched Animal House and Treasure of the Sierra Madre around that time and…a few months later—Eureka! The words for the prologue and first chapter just started spilling out of my head. (“Clean up on aisle five.”)

So, what’s it all about?

Anchorage, 1976 — Albert and Waxy flunk their Intro to Philosophy midterm and drunkenly decide to drop out of The Ohio State University and go to Alaska to “strike it rich” working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. After Albert’s father cuts off his credit card, they get bartending & dishwashing jobs at an Anchorage bar, where Albert becomes involved with the bar owner’s girlfriend, CiCi, who is also the lead singer in the house band. Albert “acquires” a union card to get a pipeline job for himself, but then learns that Waxy has become part of a crazy scheme with Jimmi the Pilot, Beantown Bob and Moe the Eskimo to find and recover a long lost government payroll from an Air Force cargo plane that crashed in the Alaska Mountain Range decades ago.

Seriously, what could go wrong? Love & Betrayal…Murder & Mayhem…Friendship & Double-Crossing Partners in Pursuit of Buried Treasure…

Lauren is swept up in the madness when she falls for the wrong man. She’s looking for love and safety, but Bryan becomes distant and abusive as he obsesses over White Sharia and deepens his ties to the racist patriot militia group. In a world where values are tested and morality is unsettlingly murky, Lauren must break free from the constraints in her mind to protect her family.

The Cruise Control Diet: The Simple Feast-While-You-Fast Plan to Conquer Weight Loss Forever

by Jorge Cruise
4.1 stars – 752 reviews
Here’s the set-up:

Activate your weight-loss autopilot—use the power of simple intermittent fasting to lose the pounds and keep them off, from Hollywood trainer and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jorge Cruise.

Timing is everything when it comes to losing weight. Or, as celebrity trainer Jorge Cruise explains: When we eat is as important as what we eat. Building on the scientifically proven but hard-to-sustain day-on, day-off technique known as “intermittent fasting,” Cruise has developed a revolutionary masterplan that simplifies your calendar and eliminates between-meal hunger. He divides every day into two easy-to-remember nutritional zones: a 16-hour evening and overnight “burn zone” (semi-fasting) followed by an 8-hour “boost zone” (eating). Ingeniously, his plan also includes “bumper foods” that can be consumed in either zone—around the clock—to keep you satiated and burning fat throughout. You’ll never be hungry if you don’t really ever have to fully fast! Backed by the very latest research and client-tested for optimal results, The Cruise Control Diet unlocks the key to dramatic results with

• recipes for deliciously unexpected boost zone foods, such as Portobello Mini Pizzas, Zoodle Spaghetti & Meatballs, Sheet Pan Salmon & Asparagus, and even Almond Butter Cookies
• high-fat, no-sugar burn-zone recipes for craving-quenching foods like Double Chocolate Fudge Mousse and Vanilla Chai Tea Latte
• weekly menus and handy grocery lists to take the guess work out of the equation
• candid testimonials from Cruise’s clients and test-panel participants
• an optional burn-zone exercise program with instructional photos

With The Cruise Control Diet you’ll automate your diet and finally conquer weight loss forever!

Featuring a foreword by Brooke Burke and an introduction by Jason Fung, M.D.

Here’s the set-up:

In the 1960s, Edenville, North Carolina is full of rules. Sagging under the weight of racism and segregation the small community finds itself at a dangerous tipping point.

Eleven-year-old Betty Grafton believes the world is fair. She knows there are worse places to live than Edenville. Unaware of the wars waging around her, she spends her days patting horses in the field and running errands for her mother. The world she doesn’t see, full of turmoil and unrest, is hiding just below the surface. One day, she has no choice but to see what’s been right in front of her all along.

Alma knows where to walk. She knows who to talk to and which fountain she can drink out of. Her mother, Winnie, spares no opportunity to remind her how dangerous it is to be a little black girl in the South.

When a chance encounter puts Betty face to face with the peril that exists in her own hometown, everything she knows turns upside down. The world isn’t as fair or safe as she’d imagined. Her family is the Klan. Her friends are the enemy. And nothing makes sense anymore.

Although the world demands they stay apart, Alma and Betty forge a secret friendship. One that could cost them their lives.
