Here’s the set-up:

Chicago video producer Ellie Foreman has been absent from thriller author Libby Fischer Hellmann’s repertoire for almost a decade. Now, in Jump Cut, she’s back…and is soon entangled in a web of espionage, murder, and suspicion that threatens to destroy what she holds most dear.

Hired to produce a candy-floss profile of Chicago-based aviation giant Delcroft, Ellie is dismayed when company VP Charlotte Hollander trashes the production and cancels the project. Ellie believes Hollander was spooked by shots of a specific man in the video footage. But when Ellie arranges to meet the man to find out why, he is killed by a subway train before they can talk. In the confusion, she finds a seemingly abandoned pack of cigarettes with a flash drive inside that belonged to the now-dead man.

Ellie gets the drive’s contents decrypted, but before long discovers she’s under surveillance. Suspecting Delcroft and the ambitious Hollander are behind it, she’s unconvinced when Hollander tells her the dead man was a Chinese spy. Ellie and her boyfriend, Luke, try to find answers, but they don’t realize how far they have ventured into the dangerous echelons of hidden power– where more lives are on the line―including their own.

Reviews:

“Exceptional… Offers no easy solutions to the various security threats America faces today… As Hellman’s convincing, conflicted characters face impossible choices, the tension is real and memorable.” Publishers Weekly, STARRED REVIEW

“Hellmann’s writing sparkles…plenty of suspense in this richly detailed thriller, but Hellmann’s characteristic wit and warmth are evident, too.” Booklist

Adam comes to their assistance, but then betrays them. Now their only chance of survival hangs on Jez and Pavel evading the Siberian pursuit.

Reviews:

“Birth of An Assassin series comprise of brilliant stories with gory scenes and much violence. The stories reveal the human side of the assassin where he is formed of flesh and bones and having soft feelings for specific people. However, they are basically strong individuals who due to cruel hand of fate and choices find themselves in unfortunate situations and it is only through their sheer will, tenacity and courage that they overcome many adversities and come out a winner.
The same can be seen in the book The Man in the Blue Fez. Jez Kord had to make difficult decisions and also leave behind his wife just to prove his abilities for active participation in General Michael Petrichova’s clandestine war, yet surviving in freezing wastelands seemed to be a lighter struggle in the face of greater adversities that awaited him ahead. Rik Stone has managed to captivate me once again with his wonderful craftsmanship. The book was beyond all my imaginations as I was provided fresh materials and introduced to evil villains who would not stop at inflicting any sort of pain. Loved the book and highly appreciate the efforts of this gifted writer.” – Amazon Reviewer

The Man in the Blue Fez is a great book that keeps the reader sucked in right up to the end. It takes place in Russia and Turkey in the year 1973. The story starts out with Jez trying to prove himself capable of his position trying to survive on his own in the cold. When he returns with his partner they see their camp is under attack and he quickly worries his beloved Anna has been killed. Anna is safe and on a mission in Turkey to stop a drug cartel. The two along with several other great characters work to figure out why their base was attacked and stop the drug operation.

This books is told from many different perspectives that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The pair encounter many challenges along the way and there is never a dull moment in the plot.

I recommend this book for anyone who likes a good thriller with a bit of history and war. It is a fast read and you will not be disappointed!” – Amazon Reviewer

Here’s the set-up:

Alice in Deadland was released in November 2011 and quickly became an Amazon.com bestseller, selling more than 50,000 copies in its first three months. It was followed by its sequel, ‘Through The Looking Glass’ and ‘Off With Their Heads’, the prequel to Alice in Deadland. Now, get all three novels in the Alice in Deadland Trilogy in one single omnibus edition and immerse yourself in this bestselling adventure.

Alice in Deadland

Civilization as we know it ended more than fifteen years ago, leaving as it’s legacy barren wastelands called the Deadland and a new terror for the humans who survived- hordes of undead Biters.

Fifteen year-old Alice has spent her entire life in the Deadland, her education consisting of how best to use guns and knives in the ongoing war for survival against the Biters. One day, Alice spots a Biter disappearing into a hole in the ground and follows it, in search of fabled underground Biter bases.

What Alice discovers there propels her into an action-packed adventure that changes her life and that of all humans in the Deadland forever. An adventure where she learns the terrible conspiracy behind the ruin of humanity, the truth behind the origin of the Biters, and the prophecy the mysterious Biter Queen believes Alice is destined to fulfill.

A prophecy based on the charred remains of the last book in the Deadland- a book called Alice in Wonderland.

Through The Looking Glass: Alice in Deadland Book II

More than two years have passed since Alice followed a Biter with bunny ears down a hole, triggering events that forever changed her life and that of everyone in the Deadland. The Red Guards have been fought to a standstill; Alice has restored some measure of peace between humans and Biters; and under Alice, humans have laid the foundations of the first large, organized community since The Rising- a city called Wonderland.

That peace is shattered in a series of vicious Biter attacks and Alice finds herself shunned by the very people she helped liberate. Now she must re-enter the Deadland to unravel this new conspiracy that threatens Wonderland. Doing so will mean coming face to face with her most deadly adversary ever- the Red Queen.

Off With Their Heads: The Prequel to Alice in Deadland

A few months before Alice was born and fifteen years before the dramatic events depicted in Alice in Deadland, there was The Rising. A few days that destroyed human civilization as we know it, reducing much of the world to a radioactive wasteland teeming with hordes of undead Biters and controlled by a shadowy Central Committee.

Off With Their Heads brings to life the final harrowing days of The Rising through four shorts, each depicting events through the eyes of one pivotal character in the Alice in Deadland series. See how Dr. Protima became the Queen of the Biters; feel the pain of a young man’s sacrifice as he becomes the bunny-eared Biter whom Alice later follows down a hole; follow the rise of Chen from a conflicted young Chinese Army officer to a General in the Red Guards; and finally share in the dramatic escape of Alice’s parents from a city overrun by Biters.

Amazon Five Star Reviews:

This series was brought to my attention by a friend and I was not disappointed. The typical zombie apocalypse story gets a fresh and interesting twist in combining elements of Alice in Wonderland. The characters become people you are attached too, and the suffering at the hands of man is all too common. The themes that normally play out are magnified: corruption, redemption, and belief in better tomorrows. Overall an excellent read and one I would enjoy all over again.

This series has quickly climbed the ranks to be one of my top ten series. I am a huge fan of dystopias and this series does not disappoint. I felt like I was a resident of Deadland. I cheered for the doctor, Alice, and the rabbit. If you are looking for some quality zombie novels, read the series immediately!

Here’s the set-up:

Future viewing audiences have become totally desensitized to violence and entirely dependent on sensation to escape their boring workaday lives—an addiction nurtured by the media with graphic portrayals of war and crime and with so-called reality programming. Now, TV execs in pursuit of the only things they care about—higher ratings and bigger paychecks—have created the ultimate reality show: Seven people, each bearing the scars of his or her past, are deposited on an island in the middle of Lake Superior. Given some bare necessities and the promise of $400,000 each if they can endure, the three women and four men risk death by starvation or freezing as the Great Lakes winter approaches. The island is wired for sound, and flying drones provide the video feed, so everything the contestants do and say is broadcast worldwide. Their seven-month ordeal is entirely unscripted, they can’t ask for help or they forfeit the prize, and as far as the network is concerned—the fewer survivors the better.

Reviews:

Phil Harvey has crafted a psychological thriller that takes reality shows, and in fact much of our popular culture, into a realm of true horror. His skill in delving into the psychology of the characters keeps the reader turning the pages. And Harvey does it not through any heavy-handed interior monologues but through the dialogue and interaction of the individuals. The book would easily lend itself not only to a successful movie script but to an intense stage play. The reader comes to know these individuals, to sympathize with them despite eventually even because of their flaws, and to root for them in their fight against not only nature but also the unnatural culture that has put them in their situation. Show Time is a thinking reader s thriller and a thoroughly entertaining read. —Darrell Delamaide, author of The Grand Mirage, for the Washington Independent Review of Books

Phil Harvey elegantly dissects the plummeting values of 21st-century America, while his plot twists seize the reader by the lapels. A great read! —David Stewart, best-selling author of American Emperor: Aaron Burr s Challenge to Jefferson s America

How far can reality TV go to satisfy the lust for sensation? Show Time delves into our primal instincts. It s an exciting novel, hard to put down, and highly recommended. —The Midwest Book Review

A vision of the future that is laugh-out-loud, until we realize how much it looks like the world we live in now. –Frank S. Joseph, award-winning author of To Love Mercy

Show Time is a biting commentary on society. Mr. Harvey writes with pure genius. You’ll be riveted until the final page, and will be left thinking about this tale for a long, long time. Warning: Some may feel as if they cannot continue due to the gritty emotional content. Finish it anyway you won’t regret it. I’m going to buy everything I can find by this amazing writer. —Debracadabra, LibraryThing
