Here’s the set-up:

The lights went out, the streets ran with blood, and when the power came back, the children were missing. And the monsters were in charge.

When the Revenants take over, they force humans to donate blood to feed their insatiable hunger. They overthrow governments and take away the music, television, and free will. But four people from completely different walks of life are about to deal the Revenants a blow that might rock the world to its foundations.

Sia, a classical musician, who wakes up in an experimental hospital. Mike, a journalist with a past, who finds himself on the run. Viv, a doctor who has lost everything: her job, her house, even her son. And then there is Joshua Flynn, a Revenant with a grudge, who wants to shatter what the other monsters have built into a million pieces.

The players are cast.

But first, a word from ... Today's Sponsor
Jenny is a heroine you’ll have no trouble following into one bloody battle after another. She is strong and charismatic, a natural born leader, yet she also has a softer, more vulnerable side, one that is scared to hope for a better life. After surviving a horrendous childhood and just marginally better adulthood, Jenny is a woman with strong principles and a very kind heart.

Here's the set-up:
Dead girls don't cry.

In a world ravaged by disease and chaos, Jenny has a secret. She and her brother were part of a gruesome experiment conducted ten years earlier in an attempt to stop the zombie apocalypse. If the rumors are true, her mother was the hated pathologist who released the disease in the first place, leading to the destruction of government, civilization, and life as we know it.

Despite the constant terror of the undead, Jenny is as happy as a post-apocalyptic girl can be. She has friends, she's good with a knife, and she has Declan Munro by her side. But when she hears her brother might still be alive and living with the Underground, a religious group hiding in the now-defunct subway, Jenny jumps at the chance to find him. She infiltrates the group to right the wrong she caused when she ran away, leaving him in that lab.

When she finds him, though, Casey is not at all what she expected. He's been turned. And the impossible happens when Jenny is bitten. She and Casey are dead, but they're not like any other rotters. Their minds are still intact. And there are others: Thirteen children survived the mysterious experiments, and it's up to Jenny to find them and bring an end to the plague. But not everyone wants the chaos to end.

Between battling her hunger for living flesh and the all-encompassing rage that goes with it, and the realization that a killer is stalking both the living and the undead, Jenny has her hands full. Coming between a dead girl and the people she loves is a big mistake. Because if you can count on one thing, it's this:

You wouldn't like her angry.
One Reviewer Notes:
J.L. Murray does a wonderful job of creating protagonists who are both bad-ass and vulnerable all at once. The complexity of the characters that the author creates is one of the things that keep me coming back for more. Further still, the story is well-written and paced just right. I always felt like the characters and I were moving toward something. And the movement wasn't aimless--each character had their own strong motivations for what they were doing. The author put a lot of thought into ensuring that everything in the story was there with a purpose.

Niki Slobodian's world is scary, busy, amazing and fantastic and whatever you thought you knew about heaven and hell or angels and demons no longer applies. Here's the set-up:
"You're not human anymore, Niki. You're one of us now."

Niki Slobodian knows loss. She knows tragedy. But she has never known this kind of pain. After the war the Archangel Michael waged on her city, Niki is dealing with the loss of her loved ones. And the haunting suspicion that everything was her fault. As well as her new duty to help all the lost souls cross over.

But when Niki's only living friend, Bobby Gage, comes up missing, she has to take action. She enlists the help of Lucifer and together they learn that Bobby has been tracking Kane, the man who murdered his family, and who is now killing again, leaving a trail of mutilated corpses all across the globe. And with the power to disappear unnoticed, it seems an impossible feat to find him and stop him.

But Niki is familiar with the impossible. And she would do anything to help her only living friend. Anything.
One Reviewer Notes:
The latest installment of the Niki Slobodian series is just as good as the books that precede it. JL Murray does a wonderful job of exploring the depth of human emotions, and further still developing a complex character who grapples with both the positive and negative aspects of self and others. The story unfolds with both intensity and humor. The book is written through a lens that makes each of the characters accessible, sometimes because of and sometimes despite their flaws.

Here's the set-up:
The bestselling Niki Slobodian series is now available in one action-packed collection.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Niki Slobodian sees things - things that aren't supposed to be there.

Labeled an Abnormal by New Government, Niki's name is tacked onto the Registry, which seems to be getting longer these days. Now she can't work or she'll end up the same place as her father: in prison. But with no money coming in, Niki's getting desperate.

So when a mysterious client offers to get her off the Registry in exchange for taking his case, Niki jumps at the chance. All she has to do is round up a homicidal Dark that's escaped from Hell and is cruising around the city in borrowed bodies. The murders are piling up, with Niki's notorious father somehow involved, and Niki's running out of time. And it seems the Dark isn't the only thing that escaped...

The Devil Is a Gentleman

Where Niki goes, death is never far behind.

Everyone Niki Slobodian knows hates Congressman Frank Bradley. He is the father of New Government, after all. He started the Registry, and the world adopted it. Bradley is the man who separated Abnormals and Normals, and made it a crime for Abbies to exist.

So when Bradley shows up at Niki's door bearing a terrible secret, then promptly disappears, she feels compelled to dig deeper. But the more Niki uncovers, the more danger she is in. A mysterious organization is out for her blood - literally - and her father's criminal past may not be as self-serving as she thought. There is also the matter of Niki's inscrutable employer Sam and the secret of his identity. With help from her partner Bobby Gage, Niki finds out just how little she knew about her family, and the truth of who she really is.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

The worlds are out of balance. The Creator is missing. And the war between Heaven and Hell has begun.

Niki Slobodian came back, but there were side effects. She is filled with a strange power no one seems to be able to explain. Not even Sam. She is also plagued with strange visions whenever she touches anyone. This does nothing but complicate the fact that she may be the reason for the war raging in the streets of her own city. A war that could mean the end of humanity.

Niki has always done whatever she had to for the people she loves, but this time is different. With carnage escalating and the people she cares for in danger, Niki and Sam must work together to save what is left of the world they both love. And with a psychotic archangel trying to assume the post of the Creator, with one slim chance to right the balance, the odds are against them.

Nothing is ever easy for a Slobodian. Not even stopping a war that could unmake the world.
One Reviewer Notes:
The characters are real and well written which add up to some great character interaction and witty moments. I am a firm believe in not giving away spoilers, but know that the world could end and some character's sacrifices break your proverbial heart into a million pieces. At the end, you have a smile, a band aid on your heart, and a wonderful escape from your life.

Using her background in photography and her passion for iridology, Kathy enlists the help of Dr. Greer, a snow-haired medical examiner who allows her to take shots of Tracey Newman’s eyes. Her findings are puzzling, but they are supported by Alexis Howard, the dead girl’s ten-year-old half sister who volunteers information she claims was delivered to her by her imaginary friend Lily.
