Here's the set-up:
Paranormal thriller. Charming to horrific, tough to tender and elegant to brutal.
Breakout novel nominated to Dan Poynter's 2012 Global eBook Awards.
~
Raymond Kidd has beloved wives in two lives, but with the "flaw in the fabric" of time and space sending him back and forth between them, enjoying their company has become like a game of musical chairs, in which he is never the one who gets to sit down.

Raymond’s current life seems hard, with a failed marriage and a failed bookstore, and then he's cast back to the past where he's a failed ship's captain fresh out of the madhouse. He returns to present-day Halifax as a man with a mixed identity, stuck with the responsibility, assigned him in his passage between lives, of serving as a guide for the dearly departed.

He would like to just be in love.

Instead, in this first Lost Souls story, he has to play host to two quarrelsome brothers who have come back to life after 200 years.

Heartfelt, hilarious and haunting all at once, The Flaw in the Fabric will take you places you have never been.
One Reviewer Notes:
Eighteenth century time travel, grinding existential angst and hearty dollops of Buddhist-flavored metaphysics combine to make Jim Lindsey’s ‘A Travellers Guide for Lost Souls’ a delightful adventure to read. His characters come alive on the page. The plot twists through the picturesque Granite Coast of Nova Sco-tia. Ultimately, the novel lifts readers to ponder an unexpected realm of depart-ed spirits who linger among us.

Kindle Nation Bargain Book Alert: Lynn Messina’s The Girls’ Guide to Dating Zombies–4.5 stars on 21 Rave Reviews. Only $2.99!

“Lynn Messina’s writing style and storytelling prowess are not just skillful, but also incredibly enjoyable and entertaining. Perfectly applying her fantastic sense of humor and satirical style, Ms. Messina lends legitimacy to an otherwise outrageous concept—and in the process renders it strangely plausible.”

Here’s the set-up:

Hattie Cross knows what you’re thinking: Zombie sex? Ewwwww. But she also knows that since a virus turned 99.9999 percent of human males into zombies, it’s statistically impossible to meet–let alone date–the remaining 0.00001 percent. So she writes “The Girls’ Guide to Dating Zombies” to help her fellow single women navigate the zombie-relationship waters.

Her practical how-to impresses the CEO of the largest drug company in the world, and before she knows it, Hattie, a reporter for a downmarket tabloid that specializes in conspiracy theories, is sitting down with the woman who single-handedly invented the zombie-behavioral-modification market. Granted access to the inner sanctum of zombaceuticals, she meets an actual, living, breathing M-A-N.

Now Hattie, the consummate professional, is acting like a single girl at the end of the twentieth century: self-conscious, klutzy and unable to form a coherent sentence without babbling. Worst of all, the human male appears to have impaired her ability to think clearly. Because all of a sudden she’s convinced a conspiracy is afoot at the drug company and it seems to go all the way to the top!

What reviewers are saying:

“The writing is snappy and well timed, original and often laugh-out-loud funny. It’s like drinking a glass of champagne while getting your feet nibbled on by a school of piranhas.” —M.E. Summer “illumine77”

“This was such an awesome story. I enjoyed every minute of it.” —N. Medina “LizzieBeth”

“This book was hilarious (‘a scream’) all the way through. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. —Frederick Lee Brooke “fullersberg”

“Lynn Messina has topped the charts in my book with a laugh out loud hilarious “guide” for women who want to date…zombies?!” —“ReviewsByMolly”

“Seriously, go out and read this book, you won’t regret it!” —sithereandread

Here’s the set-up:

When unseen forces cause a building to implode around a typical college-aged teen working in a fast-food joint, multiple lives intertwine to unearth the source of the evil.

Billy Hitchings: An ordinary kid with everyday dreams. He has a good life with his Grandmother in Myrtle Beach, only a few blocks from the Atlantic. He even enjoys his job at the local burger joint… most of the time.

John Reeves: A marine who lost his path overseas working as a mercenary in war-torn countries across the Middle East. He works as a bodyguard in New York, never quite able to get away from the action.

Dr. Amfar Ditpra: An archaeologist from India recently graduated from the University of Michigan. He and a co-worker have orders from their self-centered boss to safely deliver a trunk full of ancient artifacts to Myrtle Beach for additional research.

Coincidence and his own curiosity push Billy into a tangled mess of dark questions with darker answers, at the heart of which are rumors of an ancient legend and a not-so-ancient artifact. Will his new friends help him find the answers he seeks? Or will they betray him to their own needs?

Whale Song: School Edition

by Cheryl Kaye Tardif

4.8 stars – 85 Reviews
Text-to-Speech: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:
Originally published in Canada in 2003 (but never distributed in the U.S.), this moving story features Sarah Richardson, whose family moves from the Montana countryside to Vancouver Island just as she’s about to enter sixth grade. Sarah soon finds that island life suits her perfectly–thanks, especially, to her new best friend, Goldie, whose Native American heritage Sarah finds fascinating, especially the wisdom passed to the girls from Goldie’s grandmother, Nana. Sarah is also intrigued to learn that her marine-biologist father shares a passion with her new Indian friends: killer whales, which the natives revere and her father studies. Life isn’t all native spirituality, however, as Sarah must confront a family tragedy that will change her life forever. Though overly melodramatic in places, Tardif’s story has that perennially crowd-pleasing combination of sweet and sad that so often propels popular commercial fiction, especially coming-of-age stories. Tardif, already a big hit in Canada, may soon be a name to reckon with south of the border.

Civilization as we know it ended more than fifteen years ago, leaving as it’s legacy barren wastelands called the Deadland and a new terror for the humans who survived- hordes of undead Biters.

Fifteen year-old Alice has spent her entire life in the Deadland, her education consisting of how best to use guns and knives in the ongoing war for survival against the Biters. One day, Alice spots a Biter disappearing into a hole in the ground and follows it, in search of fabled underground Biter bases.

What Alice discovers there propels her into an action-packed adventure that changes her life and that of all humans in the Deadland forever. An adventure where she learns the terrible conspiracy behind the ruin of humanity, the truth behind the origin of the Biters, and the prophecy the mysterious Biter Queen believes Alice is destined to fulfill.

The Arkaelyon Chronicles Vol 1.
(Contains both Druid’s Bane & Maig’s Hand)Druid’s Bane (Book 1)The Illandian Spring Tournament is about to reach its crescendo, and with the king’s only daughter, Danielle de Brie, and her twin brother, Kane, preparing to face each other in the tourney ring for the deciding match the citizens and nobles of Arkaelyon’s capital city are in a fever of excited speculation.Determined to free herself from the fear her twin brother has always provoked in her and to show the world that men such as Kane de Brie can be defeated, Danielle has every intension of making her brother’s title her own.But even as the two royals climb the stairs to Illandia’s famous dueling ring, Danielle has no idea that a rescind coven of druids are about to change her world forever or that the deep animosity between Kane and her is fated to plunge the realm into civil war.

A dream the night before is the only hint she has of the dangerous manipulation that is stirring in the shadows of her father’s realm. But the frightful vision is so diabolical that she writes it off as likely the product of her fatigue after a hard fought week of competition and the fact she is about to face her greatest fear in the tourney ring.

But when she makes passing mention of the dream to the Lord Protector, Father Joseph’s response and the secrets he and a priestly order protect are destined to set her on a desperate and perilous path to prevent the fulfilment of a prophecy that if realised will not only see to the destruction of her father’s kingdom and every land on the continent-but herald the rise of an ancient and tyrannical order of Larniusian Druids who have waited centuries to restore the authority of the dark goddess across the face of the world.

***Maig’s Hand (Book 2)With his world in ruins, Kane must either run and hope monastic and royal assassins do not find him, or accept the Archbishop’s offer and embrace high treason.

While the opportunity to replace his father as Arkaelyon’s king and bring bloody revenge down on his sister’s head is appealing–more than appealing, the prospect of being a pawn in a thousand year old struggle between Orthodox Goddians and Larniusian druids disturbs his atheist sensibilities, and more so when he learns the price he must pay to be Maig’s Hand.

Meanwhile, Danielle’s search to find the truth of her dream and the disturbing prophecy it contains continues with her usual gusto. However, the truth she finds could cost her James’ love, destroy her parent’s reputation and rob Eden of his birthright. More still, her persistence will see the streets of Amthenium run red with blood and force her into a deadly showdown that will change her life and the lives of those she holds dearest forever.

Review

“The Arkaelyon Chronicles Vol 1 (Druid’s Bane & Maig’s Hand) is a very well written tale with a deep back story, a twisting plot and a large cast of wonderfully rich characters.”

“I do very much like the authors style, a distinct voice that has a sharp edge to it.”

– Anthony Jones, SFbooks.com
