Here’s the set-up:

Since her divorce a year ago, Susan Caraway has gone through the motions of life. Now she is finally coming out of her shell. Just when she decides on a makeover and a new career, her family members decide she’s crisis central. As soon as DeLorean settles in at Susan’s home, Susan’s son Christian returns from college trailing what Susan’s mama refers to as “an androgynous little tart.” Then there’s Mama herself, a southern lady who wrote the book on bossy. A secret from Mama’s past threatens to unravel her own peace. But not before Mama hurts her ankle and has to move into Susan’s home with her babies—two Chihuahuas with attitude. Susan would like to start her new job as a ghost tour operator. She would like to renew her relationship with Jack Maxwell, a man from her past. But Jack isn’t going to stand in line behind her needy family.

What the Reviewers Say
“If you like Southern Fiction, this is the book for you. “We Interrupt This Date” is Southern Fiction at its best. I am Southern born and bred and could relate to every word of this book. L.C. Evans has a wonderful writing style that I really enjoyed. The only thing that I didn’t like about this book was when I reached the end. I wanted more! I hope L.C. Evans has a sequel in the works because I just can’t get enough of Susan Caraway, the leading character in the book.”
Kristie Leigh Maquire, author Second Chances

“It was very well edited and the plot moved along. The introduction of the ghost tours and giving us background on that was genius of the author, it brought another element into the story without burying us in the details. Sweetly written with heart. Recommended for those looking for a light read or those like southern fiction.”
–Candy Beauchamp, Top 500 Reviewer

“Evans has cooked up another tasty literary stew. As an author she is akin to a five-star French chef who can adroitly blend breathing characters we can easily relate to with unusually colorful locales and well-crafted storylines into the most pleasant of reading experiences. The smooth flow of her novels comes from her innate ability to seamlessly mix all of her ingredients into a visual feast for he reader.”
–John Strumsky

From the award-winning novelist Judith Arnold, a story of fear, love and made-up identities. Pamela Hayes, a Seattle architect, is on the run from a hit man. Jonas Brenner, a Key West bar owner, needs a convincing wife to help him in a custody battle. Will this be a marriage of inconvenience?

“Judith Arnold is a perennial favorite whose keen wit and way with mystery always hits the mark.”—RT Book Reviews

CRY UNCLE

Don’t have a Kindle? Get yours here.

Here’s the set-up:
After witnessing a professional hit, Seattle architect Pamela Hayes has testified in court against the hit man. Unfortunately, a mistrial is declared and the hit man is released on bail while awaiting a new trial. He intends to silence the sole witness to murder—Pam—before that new trial begins. She needs to hide, and she runs as far as she can: to steamy Key West., Florida.

What RT Book Reviews Says

Jonas Brenner, a Key West bar owner and easy-going slacker, is about to lose custody of his orphaned five-year-old niece—unless he can convince the courts that he’s a responsible father. What he needs is a prim and proper wife who will create the illusion that Lizard, as his niece likes to be called, is being raised in a stable environment.

What Pam needs is a new identity. Joe offers her a deal: if she marries him and takes his name, no Pacific Northwest hit man is going to find her. In return, she can pose as Joe’s respectable wife, dutifully caring for the rambunctious, feather-wearing Lizard.

Of course, this will be a marriage in name only. No sex. No emotions. No love. Which, once Pam and Joe move in together and the sparks begin to fly, is easier said than done.

CRY UNCLE was originally published by Harlequin Books.

“When a classy architect joins in a marriage of convenience with a slightly scruffy bartender to hide from a hit man out to kill her, frustration runs high, making both want to CRY UNCLE and get on with the loving. Judith Arnold is a perennial favorite whose keen wit and way with mystery always hits the mark.”

The Reviewers Said:

My 12 year-old daughter read this book and LOVED it, so I’m writing this review per her instructions: Priscilla the Great was very suspenseful and a real page turner. Fun AND funny too! I really, really, REALLY want a sequel! Highly, HIGHLY recommended for kids my age.

Priscilla the Great is a wonderfully funny book! I have had the pleaure of reading this book and, as a grade school teacher, I have plans to get a copy for my classroom as well. Priss in no simpering heroine, waiting to be rescued by a cute boy. She’s spunky and has a great sense of humor. Priss really is a positive role model for girls

If you don’t have a young adult to buy a book for, read this yourself. I’m glad I did and am pleased that I have a place to review it and recommend it to everyone.
Priscilla the Great is an immediately engaging novel, clever, quirky, and comical. The author, Sybil Nelson, has created a character who is incredibly endearing while still feeling “real”. Well, as real a a girl who can start fires with her hands could possibly be! She is exactly what you want in a heroine, especially one who is destined to develop superpower powers and live up to the novel’s title.
