A Novel That Can be Read Aloud to The Little Ones or Enjoyed by The Young at Heart – Walter Eckland’s Humorous CORIE UNIVERSE FEEDER – 5.0 Stars on Amazon with 10 out of 10 Rave Reviews and Now $2.99 on Kindle

“…I simply have to mention how impressed I was with Corie Universe Feeder. I have read it twice, and it was completely enjoyable both times. I have NEVER read anything like it before.” – Autumn Conley, Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

Corie Universe Feeder

by Walter Eckland

5.0 stars – 10 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

What’s not to love about digging and mud?

Corie: tall, thin, scruffy, female, student, blondish, smart, creative, outspoken, trouble-finding, precocious (whatever THAT means), eager, mature, silly, immature, messy-roomed, imaginative, animal-loving girl ……

……. has actual PERMISSION FROM HER FATHER to dig a hole in the front yard of her house. As an added bonus she can use the water hose, wheelbarrow, shovel, spray paint, a sign and any and all neighborhood friends she wants. After this whole, hole digging event, lots of oddness ensues not just from the aforementioned father, but from her mother, a dog walker, the police chief, the newspaper guy and the scowling town librarian.

Does any good come of this at all? Well, sit down, grab a free cheese sandwich and find out. Oh! One other thing. If you ABSOLUTELY do not like reading, then read this book. It is a tad nutty, nonsensical and sometimes barely even seems like a book.

If you are a parent who has a child that appears to be un-fond of reading, well, then, bribe them to try this by telling them it’s about popcorn, pudding, and Popsicles.

And pickles.

One Reviewer Notes

“So utterly different to anything I’ve ever read before, I began reading as though it was a children’s book – yet still I was captivated within a few pages. Somehow this story just flows into you – quirky and odd in just the right measure, simple yet not-so-simple… Before I even knew it, this delightful story had me completely enthralled! It has such an uplifting feel, such a positive and happy message, I read it cover to cover in one sitting with a stupid grin on my face the whole time. I heartily recommend you buy and read this unusual book, for you, your children, for anyone! It will leave you feeling great. It might even make you wish you were nine again… For me, it just makes me wish I could write like Walter Eckland. 5 Stars.” – Tony Slater, Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

About The Author

Walter Eckland is an odd sort of duck who throws a bunch of words together and then hacks the heck out of them afterwards. Sometimes they align well pre or post the masticating. Sometimes said words align humorously. Once they made someone cry. We don’t know why. Most times the words get tossed in an electronic waste receptacle to be reused in a more conventional manor by someone who probably DID pay attention in seventh grade English and did learn about grammar, punctuation and run on sentences while Walter was listening to his ADHD and trying desperately to sit still.

Walter used to spend a boatload of time in airplanes crossing the little pond between the North East of the new world and the old continent. Australian Shiraz fueled much of the word proliferation during that time until Walter switched to Cabernet Sauvignon.

These days Walter does a little repetitive South to North travel path and dusts off some old words and tries to make sense of what ever nonsense he intended at the time. Most of his ramblings fall into silly children’s books or old style Science Fiction. One SciFi book involves a fat lady and a Volvo.

Walter’s first Kindle offering involves a young girl that reminds him a bit of his daughter. There are three more books in the series (so far) and if Walter would stop obsessively reading web stuff about how to get his nonsense novel noticed and trying to convince people to cough up 2.99 American and instead got back to Cabernet and Microsoft Word he could release book two of the whole Corie Universe Feeder thingy. Book three takes a few odds turns and almost makes a point or two.

Hang on and give me a second I’m looking for a corkscrew so I can finish this bio.

Introducing a Special New KND Sponsor That’ll Bring You Tons of Great Reading at Great Prices, Starting with Bradford Morrow’s Stirring Novella FALL OF THE BIRDS – Just $1.99

(Editor’s Note: It’s a special treat for us to welcome a brand new sponsor today at KND, in the form of an innovative, mission-driven publishing company called Open Road Integrated Media. We’ve been writing about Open Road since it was founded in the fall of 2009 by former HarperCollins CEO and Random House executive Jane Friedman. While many of her former colleagues were investing their energies in developing the agency model conspiracy that would eventually win them defendant status in a federal antitrust action, Friedman took a very different, courageous  — and I would say brilliant — route with co-founder Jeffrey Sharp to use the new technologies offered by the Kindle and other platforms to connect the greatest readers in the world with legendary authors including William Styron, Pat Conroy, Jack Higgins, and Virginia Hamilton, emerging stars like Mary Glickman, and today’s featured author, Bradford Morrow. If you love to read and you have yet to discover Open Road’s Kindle list of over 1,200 titles, you are in for a truly special treat featuring great reading at great prices. But there’s no better place to start than with Fall of the Birds. –Steve Windwalker)

“Literary fiction [is Morrow’s] particular, individual gift.” —The New York Times Book Review

“Morrow is a landscape painter of contemporary fiction; like his counterparts of a century ago, he evokes a certain mood and even momentum . . . by the scenes he chooses.” —The Boston Globe

Here’s the set-up:

A new novella by acclaimed author Bradford Morrow about a man who tracks an inexplicable plague of bird deaths, and the mystery’s profound effect on his family

Hundreds of red-winged blackbirds are discovered scattered, lifeless, around a greenhouse in Warwick, New York. Heaps of common grackles litter the fields of a farm upstate near Stone Ridge. And in Manhattan, a Washington Square restaurant is forced to close its doors when a flock of pigeons inexplicably dies on the sidewalks out front. From Pennsylvania to Maine, birds are falling from the sky en masse—and nobody can figure out why.

An insurance claims adjuster and avid birder is one of the first to recognize that something is wrong. His stepdaughter, Caitlin, has also noticed—their common interest in birds is one of the few things they share these days, since her mother died of cancer just six months ago. As they travel the Northeast together to investigate the ominous deaths, a bond forms that might prove strong enough to mend their broken family.

Fall of the Birds is a moving story of a haunting near-future and a tribute to the power of love that can survive even the most harrowing of circumstances.

Praise For FALL OF THE BIRDS:

“…Fall of the Birds is a beautifully crafted novella about love and loss, about the overwhelming sorrow and loneliness of grief and the sense of wrongness of the universe that comes with it. But it is also about the resilience of the human spirit to cope and to transcend tragedy and to form strong and lasting bonds despite or because of it. And, oh yeah, it’s a pretty darn good story about birds as well.” – Maxine McLister, Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars

One Reviewer Notes

Kuester’s fast-paced first novel is as timely as it is provocative. It’s a tightly-written, sci-fi thriller with a twist – Kuester uses an alien culture as a mirror to reflect the current political landscape. Unlike some heavy-handed academic tome, Kuester’s tale weaves a discussion of hot-button current issues like the inequitable distribution of wealth into a highly entertaining and complex sci-fi story line. Besides the economic reform message, there are space stations, mysterious technological forces, forbidden romance and lots of action. I would highly recommend D.E.T.O.X.X. America to anyone looking for an action-packed science fiction novel with more substance than your average story.

About The Author

Horrified at what he believed to be unwholesome economic and political trends in our country, he wrote his novel, REMEDY: D.E.T.O.X.X. AMERICA, because novels have far wider audience appeal than scholarly journals or the college classrooms where he spent his professional career. The novel is a vehicle for consideration of contemporary United States economics and politics, using the culture of an alien planet to highlight unwholesome trends in our country, such as those resulting in the present economic crises.

Author Harold Kuester taught philosophy and religion in a city easily mistaken for the one where the March on Washington chronicled in this novel begins. He has a long-standing commitment to “promote the general welfare” and “establish justice.” Wishing the Occupy movement–which inspired the novel’s re-release as an Amazon Kindle e-book with a new cover–every success, he offers the novel, hoping it will inspire courage and perseverance, as well as offering a good read. The novel was initially published as a paperback before the Wall Street economic debacle became obvious, but it remains relevant to the current situation.

Debra Weiner Brings KND Readers A Clear, Concise Guide For Dating & Relationships in HOW TO RECOGNIZE YOUR FUTURE EX-HUSBAND – 4.4 Stars on Amazon and Now $3.99 on Kindle

4.4 stars – 10 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband is a simple, clear, and concise guide for maneuvering through the initial stages of dating that helps to distinguish who to pursue and who to leave behind.

The central theme of the book is alerting women to “the signals from within” that are often ignored. These signals more often than not point to the eventual dissolution of the relationship. The book’s straightforward presentation is organized around key issues encountered in the first few weeks and months of dating. Anger, boundaries, conflict avoidance, dependency, jealousy, money, and sex are among the many topics discussed via a mix of questions, answers, and personal stories. At its core, How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband addresses the pitfalls of the rationalization process and helps to identify which doubts must be listened to and which ones may be discarded in the pursuit of lasting love and marriage.

Reviews

“This is the book for single women sizing up a man. Debra Weiner has written an encyclopedia all about decoding male behavior. She explains how to recognize trouble, interpret it, and run! It is wonderfully written, wise, and enlightening. You should not leave your single state without it!” — Margo Howard, “Dear Margo” for Creators Syndicate and wowowow.com

“Single women everywhere, listen up! Do not leave for a date without slipping your lipstick and Debra Weiner’s How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband into your bag. It’s a veritable dating bible, and I wish I’d had her settle-or-else advice in my pocket 60 dates ago. Weiner deftly dissects dysfunctional men and their relationship patterns with clear and certain language, and tells you exactly when it’s appropriate to run for the hills. She demonstrates how to recognize when you just shouldn’t be that into him and why. Her style is frank, honest and free of cliches– exactly how a book about dating and finding the perfect mate should be.” — Rachel Machacek, author of The Science of Single: One Woman’s Grand Experiment in Modern Dating, Creating Chemistry, and Finding Love

“One read of Debra Weiner’s How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband, will have you leap over an ‘ex,’ and head straight for a prince! A fun and straight-forward format offers sound advice that makes great sense.” — Laurie Graff, author of You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs and The Shiksa Syndrome

“Debra is wise, witty, and perceptive, with an unerring b.s. detector. Where was she when I was deciding who to marry, and (disastrously) what to let slide? Let this book be your eyes when you find yourself blinded by love.” — Candace Walsh, editor, Ask Me About My Divorce: Women Open Up About Moving On

From The Author

I have just completed writing a book, How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband.

The idea for this book came about during a conversation I had with a former therapist when we were talking about how prevalent the rationalization process was among women we knew. This led to her sharing a story with me about a friend of hers who had recently called to tell her all about a new relationship and how she had found “the one.” After politely listening to her friend speak almost exclusively in superlatives (based on four weeks of dating), she said, “Congratulations. I think you have just met your future ex-husband.” I was so enthralled by the phrase that I began to work on a project that would evolve into this book.

I am often asked to summarize the essence of How to Recognize Your Future Ex-Husband and my answer is always the same: understanding the rationalization process.

It is my personal belief that the “R” word is responsible for so many of our choices when it comes to romantic relationships (and life in general). We need to make sense of what we do and why we do it. But where it becomes sticky is when we absolutely know that we are heading down the wrong path but continue to do so despite our internal GPS telling us otherwise.

For many years I had been in pursuit of partnership prior to getting married almost a decade ago. While I am not a trained therapist, I have worked with many gifted professionals throughout most of my life who have helped me to understand why I accumulated so many disappointing relationships. To me, this is analogous to being a good cook who has acquired her culinary acumen simply by spending a great deal of time in the kitchen.

About The Author

When James was thirteen years old he read The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub, and a seed of an idea was planted that someday he, too, would create different worlds and realities.

After a stint in the US Army, a year as a long-haul truck driver, and a couple as a log home builder, he enrolled at the University of Montana. There, he majored in Psychology and, by chance, took a creative writing course. Words started to flow, and worlds were born.

James lives in Montana with his wife and his bodyguard, a Mini-Schnauzer named Jonesy.
